Good job over the past few weeks Chris, keep it chill (got to love the slow clap).
I'm mildly interested in the Steam OS. I'm not sure I'd get any use out of it right now, but I suppose we'll see when more information comes out.
The Microsoft comment may be true, but it does come off in a slightly arrogant manner. I'm also a bit disappointed with how it was worded that their policies may have been too far into the future. That almost suggests that it's not that the policies were unfavorable, but that we aren't forward enough in our thinking to be realize their value, which will happen in time.
@blueinheaven I'd like to point out though that the purpose of this video (which was focused in the later half, the first half kept in line with the show's theme) wasn't to highlight the intelligent responses, it was to highlight the childish ones. This was done for the specific purpose of demonstrating the kinds of comments not acceptable. If Johnny focused on the intelligent ones, he would not have as successfully demonstrated the fact that there was a significant amount of inappropriate comments.
It's also important to note that Johnny did not state that intelligent comments are non-existent. Towards the end, he directly stated that there are people who are distinctly respectful in their comments, even when they are saying that the Gamespot crew is wrong. Johnny notes that they approve of that kind of behaviour, they want your feedback and in doing so acknowledged that people are critiquing things in a productive way.
If your interested in getting more feedback from Gamespot about critiques from the community when these sorts of situations happen, it might be beneficial to create a forum thread or some sort of petition asking for a show or forum thread where a Gamespot employee addresses the critiques (with examples) and fosters appropriate discussion about it. Maybe something good would come out of that :).
Interesting series that isn't really advertised. Maybe Gamespot should toss a link on the main page for a couple days come next episode and see the reaction.
@rawkstar007 I'm not sure if it is really hypocritical though rawk. Granted, the show highlights some of the worst comments on the site, the idea of using it to then condemn behaviour may seem hypocritical. But the show has always had a tone that those sorts of comments were not something to be admired, it portrayed them as foolish. In that way, the show is keeping with the theme of suggesting such comments are ridiculous. Furthermore, Johnny did acknowledge the potential of the show to be acting as a generator of such comments and suggests that he may need to rectify that somehow.
