@Mayleene Unless youre trying to be ironic, may I ask how you plan to play the system if you have no power in your house? I think you meant to say, your ISP goes down, router or modem break or something along those lines. But I don't think it is reasonable to assume the new Xbox will have a built in battery for it and your TV in the off chance your power goes out. I say light a candle and play a game of cards!
@Dudeinator For the most part I share your concerns. Additionally, I am not quite sure I wholly agree with our system's way of treating "ex-criminals". What I mean by this, once you serve your sentence/punishment, your debt to society is theoretically paid. Yet we continue to want to punish old offenders even afterwards.
Not knowing a lot about this bill though, I am hopeful that NY has enough data on this issue that more good is being achieved from this than harm.
@thekev11 I mostly agree with you, but please see sacatash's comment below you. Confusing Mb's vs Mbits is very common. I actually believe a 7200rpm drive can transfer data faster than USB 2 allows for, hence it is ideal to have your hard drive hooked via SATA rather than USB 2.
@gun_blade25 I mostly agree with you in so much that if GPU's hit a similar wall that CPU's have as far as yearly upgrade ability, we will see more refined processes to maximize productivity. This will ultimately cut development time and costs.
However, a well managed company starts out with a budget and builds a game based on those constraints. It's the companies that begin with a vision, and refuse to acknowledge and adapt to their current financial limits that tend to go out of business; See Kingdoms of Amalur.
I simply find it hard for companies to spend 4x's on developing a game for a system that has a fraction of the install base as far as consumer accessibility to the new console itself. For those of us old enough to remember the ps3, xbox 360 and especially the ps2 launch. Those games weren't significantly graphically superior than the last titles found on previous generation consoles. It's partially because budgets dictated how far those companies could push the new hardware.
This isn't that surprising. It is a big election year in China, and there are large Chinese nationalist groups that feel nothing but disdain towards the Japanese. These sentiments are encouraged by many Chinese officials to further their platform and demonstrate how opponents are not pro-China. For analogy, these tactics parallel American nationalist sentiments towards Mexicans/Latinas/Latinos/Chicanas/Chicanos etc, but the Japanese also have WW2 to fuel the flames.
Not trying to start a heated debate, just informing.
This is the only recent game (2yrs) that I will be tolerating the pre-order BS to ensure I can play it day 1. Sigh, I just wish publisher weren't so hell bent on alienating customers to make a few extra bucks. Borderlands 1 is pretty much the reason I bought a ps3... Just give the extras to everyone, I assure you the game will still fly off shelves.
@MusclesJAM I am confused by your intent what you hope to accomplish with the added stats you requested in terms having the author formulate a better article.
The author is assuming month to month changes are relatively constant between years corresponding to seasonal releases etc. Using year to year comparisons is more effective for comparing when new IP comes out in regards to this current generation. Sure your resolution of the data increases with month to month data, but the information becomes less accessible for most readers to understand without wordy explanations trying to explain shifts between different Novembers between years.
You already argued effectively against your first point. Remember this isn't a term paper. The author's intent was probably to set appropriate terms which a logical discussion can be had verses creating an iron clad argument... The author even points out different ways which the data can be interpreted without too much analysis.
Regarding your number 2. What do you hope to accomplish by % of the pie stats in terms of sales. I believe the purpose of this article is only to show trends on when new IP's are created, and argues the correlation to new hardware = causation in this case (potentially wrong). How does your number 2 add to the discussion on when new IP's are created? The author doesn't make an argument on whether they sell or not just when they are made.
Overall, you demand for more stats be produced without explaining specifically how it would strengthen or weaken the author's current argument. It is almost as if youre attacking the lack of these other statistics as a weakness in an argument the author wasn't making.
