@Mar044 Not all Americans think that way. In fact I think you would find a large % of the population fairly accepting if not hopeful for some of the freedoms of expression that Canada and the UK have. But we have a very vocal and powerful community that views such censorship necessary. I may not agree with them, but when their opinions only create a minor inconvenience in me being able to access those forms of art and entertainment I just don't view it as that big of a deal. Don't get me wrong if I lived in an area, such as Canada, where those boundaries didn't exist and then all of suden they were imposed on me... I would immediately respond who the F* are you to say what I can and cannot watch. I am just saying it isn't the end of the world. Btw I am a medical student and have seen some crazy schtuff, but watching a series of executions from Manhunt 2... Holy s*** that was way beyond my comfort threshold. Does that make me a violence virgin? maybe, but I don't think that is such a bad thing in that case. Do I think micro and sony should permaban the game from being sold on their systems? no, but the rating to me was justified at the time.
@mclebron23 your dissemination of the +/- system and thoughtful conclusions you came to by carefully disseminating the quotes of those who post is truly inspiring. Fox News "Fair and Balanced" may have a place for you On a more serious note. great article! It will be interesting to see how E-sports evolve (hopefully some better streaming services)
Look at LA noir, how they had specific missions depending on where you bought your copy. With activity like this, along with DLC's, and games like Marvel vs Capcom super mega ultimate edition being released months after their original game release, I have been apprehensive to buy any game new. Instead opting to wait for GOTY editions, and price drops. Twisted Metal is about the only game coming out (2012) that I will probably buy day one. Bottom line this crap needs to end! Great article
Personally I am supportive of the lawsuit, in so much that I wish for Hotz to win and hopefully open the doors for future modders. I love my hacked psp! Modders have allowed me to implement options like save states and others have helped me convert my UMD collection into digital media that is all saved to a single SD card. I still support the game developers by buying their games as well, and I don't think I am alone on this. The only difference is my PSP is now functional in my opinion. If Hotz wins this will hopefully bring more individuals with talents for modding out of the wood works. @maxwell97 I don't think my modded/hacked devices like my psp or my iphone on tmobile precludes me from being a "real gamer" or a "real phone-user" for that matter. However, piracy is clearly an issue and needs to be dealt with and prevented within reason. But I do not think piracy causes as big of a loss as retailers claim. In this respect I agree with @Brakua although I am guessing his statistics were pulled out of his colon.
