Nice and all, but maybe too little, too late. Nintendo, please remember that most core gamers already own a PS3 or 360 , or both, and are quite satisfied. Can your tablet controller really be that engaging for people to buy a new console that is similar in power to the consoles we already own?

Yes, and the Wii U's tech is far and beyond the 360 and ps3 are atm. Hell the 720 and ps4 are rumored to be equally as powerful as Wii U. What Nintendo is hoping is that because they've made quite a large following from Wii and the obviously hardcore nature of the Wii U, they're looking to get 360 and ps3 gamers to buy the Wii U while sony and microsoft flounder around with move and kinect which are failing miserably. All signs are pointing towards Wii U domination. Oh that and the constant rumors about ps4 and 720 not being able to play used games which is simply going to go badly for ps4 and 720 because what incentive do retailers have if they can't sell 2nd hand games? They're a bigger deal to retailers than you may think.
Sounds like members of Nintendo themselves got sick of the wii and had it collecting dust. Iwata explained exactly what happened to me with the system--Play it for a bit, get sick of it, hardcore titles come but you're already "over" the system and cant be bothered picking any of these titles up.

Couldn't be more wrong. I've gone back and gotten a whole lot of lesser known Wii games and have completely ignored my 360. My ps3 is still ylod, but it's been such a failure of a console this entire generation that it's been almost constantly collecting dust. The Wii has a huge backlog of worthwhile games but of course cows and lemmings will only ever talk about the shovelware from lazy 3rd parties.

In reality, the ps3's processor is more powerful than the 360's but it's extremely difficult to develop for so it never really gets used, which is why ports are almost always better on 360. Not trying to start a war with this comment, but it is well known that the 360 ports are slightly better than ps3 ports. Basically this means that if the nextbox has a super strong cpu, it will simply make the console extremely expensive and not worth it.
Wow, 720 is looking be so advanced. I am glad Microsoft isn't going casual like all the biased cows would lead you to believe.

That's what the ps3 did this gen, and it earned itself 3rd place by a large margin. A strong CPU is not what you want. All this means is that the games are going to be easy to port from Wii U, thus making the Wii U the winner next gen.
The awkward moment when skyrim is an abomination and was only good because it was hyped up. In all actuality it was awful. The one possibly redeeming feature of the game, the story, was just as weak as oblivion and the combat was basically unchanged and absolutely abysmal. Skyrim was a terrible game. I have no doubts that the witcher 2 will be exponentially better than skyrim, hell Lair is better than skyrim
Wii U. It might be the only console I buy next gen.

This. The Wii domination will continue. It was clearly the best console this gen if you actually played the games. With a greater focus on online gaming and a focus on what is apparently known as "hardcore gamers" but seem to be full of noobs who can't handle a new control scheme so whine and moan about it. Basically it looks like Wii U is going to get the multiplats that ps4 and the nextbox will get and thus be the ultimate console.
Freakin sweeeet!!!! That's a brilliant idea, GJ big N. Now, make the controllers touch-to-sync so we can just touch them to the console to sync them and not need the sync button at all, which is kinda ugly.

So it sold 90 million in 2 weeks? That must be a personal experience, because I know many that have enjoyed the Wii a lot. See most people dont game like we do. It isnt the major activity in their life. I say PS3. 120 fps, 4d or some non sense like that was said. Don't forget the 2 ethernet ports, something like 7 USB ports, 1080p native and the rest of sony's broken promises. Clearly the ps3 is the most hyped and the one that delivered the least.
I think a far more relevant question will be "Will game reviewing sites be able to ignore the Hype-icane that will follow GTA V?" It was a welcome realisation when people started to get over the hype and realise that GTA IV was just another GTA with not that much special about it. It's like Skyrim nowadays, how people have realised that it really wasn't that great a game and was more hype than anything.
Well.. GTA is better than Super Mario Galaxy in a lot of aspects.
Like in Sound, Music, Graphics, Motion, Tech, Gameplay, Online ... Basically, all the things that make a game, a game. Well if you look at it that way, it makes SMG look like childsplay.
Afterall, the hardware is limited. GTA4 + mods = 10.

I can make assumptions about games without ever playing them too. For example, did you know that Demon's souls is utter trash? And that Call of duty Modern rehash 3 was equally as terrible? Oh and let's not forget about that movie gear solid 4 either.
I want to say Bioshock Infinite, but I'm going to say Halo 4 because I've been playing Halo's multiplayer since 3 and haven't gone at all to cod or battlefield because I thought they all kinda sucked and didn't require any skill. I'm a bit worried that Halo 4 is turning too cod-like, which I feel is partially a bad thing, but the news about Spartan Ops is exciting. The other thing I find rather amusing is that Halo 4 is also likely to be the only FPS I buy this year, unless anything with the word "Metroid" or "Star fox" in the title comes out, then of course I'll get that too.
