Big on balance just because I don't wanna burn myself out on gaming. I treat it almost like reading a good book. Even when the desire is strong, I try to meter it out so I'm always craving coming back for more.
I supported the PS2 (and the Dreamcast) steadily during it and eventually picked up a Cube when they came down to $99. Have to admit, I do miss the 6th gen. That was an exciting generation!
Have you seen the Nerd's reviews? They're quite thorough with a lot of gameplay footage. I too was on the fence about seeking them out until I watched his work. Especially the part about how much they cost him!
It's odd but I actually prefer playing old games on their proper systems. I think it stems from the idea that I'm logging miles on my new (usually much more expensive hardware) to get the experience of the system collecting dust that's bought and paid for. I suppose the concept would be a lot more appealing to me had I encountered a backward compatible system that I didn't have the older one of as well.
