@Drakillion Loved D2. Well.. still do! It manages to get so many things right. I hope D3 manages to live up to its lineage!

Guildwars 2 and Torchlight 2.. not too long to go now :D

MAYBE Diablo 3 if I find it somewhere cheap enough to warrant purchasing it. I'm a hack n slash fan but didn't find the beta all that interesting. Especially the cut-down spoon-fed character development... unless I missed something!

@TheCyborgNinja No pride lost in getting a Wii U. Nintendo is the 'wise old man' in the video gaming industry.

The young ones always see the wise old man and think he doesn't have anything interesting to tell me. He can't show me how to be "cool." He's boring! Hmm.... some truth to that.

He doesn't speak to entertain. He speaks to those who are willing to hear him. And those willing to hear him receive something much more valuable than those who merely just listen to him.

I've got a funny feeling that less than 20% of the people who read what I just wrote will understand what I just said. And that is the proof of what I just wrote.

The Wii U is going to bring to this generation what the N64 brought the gamers in the 90's. Unfortunately it's going to be a case of "throwing pearls to the swine" for many. Ah well...

@sar1995 Good call. I hardly consider them gamers though. As soon as COD players get over COD, I think they'll be too busy trying to reintegrate themselves into society to buy and play more games!

@killip I agree.

There's only so far, though, that they can push it before loyal gamers have enough and decide to move on to better things. They'll be basing their platforms 'success' on sales figures, but the real factor will be where those sales are coming from. With loyal gamers getting fed up and moving on, sales will be coming from casual gamers who may or may not invest in next gen systems.

MS and Sony would be slowly killing themselves.

@badman11226 Couldn't agree more. 90's were the best. Nothing to worry about, just buy a game and enjoy it! Looking back, I actually bought more games back in those days at higher prices than I do today only because the industry today is so money and control hungry. At least Nintendo still do things right.

With EA "investing" $80 Million into next gen consoles this would not surprise me. Plus Sony and MS don't pride themselves on offering best prices. If they see a possibility of providing Digital Downloaded games as the ONLY option for purchasing games whilst being able to market it as a move to increase convenience and offer an 'improved experience' for gamers AND get away with it, they most certainly would. They would make used games a thing of the past and have a monopoly on their platforms. They could charge more than shops for much longer lengths of time after a game is launched and gamers wouldn't be able to do squat!

It's only a matter of time until one of the two test the waters only to find out that gamers are not as dumb as we all look!.. well.. most of us anyway :P

Yup, games on the iPhone AppStore are completely wrought with this crap. Worst part is this isn't just something that they add to games. As soon as you play one of these games you can tell, right away, that it was designed AROUND this money making principle. It's disgusting and is slowly killing the industry, not only creativity and ingenuity.

First thing I look at now is if a game has in-app purchases. If it does, I move right along and strongly suggest everyone do the same. I'm all for supporting developers, but this, at least IMHO, is not the most ethical way of charging gamers.. worst part is, it makes new games exactly the frickin' same as all the others! collect coins.. for this.. grind for xp for that.. pay extra for your guns.

QA and ethics are mere old wives tales in the land of mobile gaming, at least on Apple's AppStore.

@nyran125 I foresaw, a little while ago now, the gaming community splitting between, for lack of a better words, conscious gamers and unconscious gamers. Better put, gamers who care about the industry as a whole - game quality, business ethics, prices, etc.. and those who couldn't give a flying f@#$ about it as long as they got their gaming fix.

I'm with you on the the whole supporting runic over blizzard thing. I personally think torchlight 2 is looking to be a better game than diablo 3. At least better than the beta was for sure! I just read an article today saying that developers at blizzard that were working on diablo 3 actually wanted to make it either a third person or fps. Luckily one of the leading developers said hell no. That just goes to show that even a lot of developers these days don't even have a clue.. or are just sheepishly following trends. Could you imagine if they made Diablo 3 a FPS. I wonder how many million cupcakes blizzard would get to 'fix it'!
