First off, no matter what happens, even if they finish in last (which I think is a possibility), it's a win. They're just here to win back the massive market share that Sony had.
I think the saddest part of this is that MS had a chance to do so much more though. First to market. Awesome library. Fantastic online service. But they got complacent, sat on their hands, and didn't do enough to woo over the remaining customers.
Fix the RROD, lower the cost of online gaming, lower the cost of the console, enhance customer support, advertise better. All things that could have been done to really put away the competition. But instead, they just sat still and watch the weak starting PS3 claw its way back into the race.
Which, I guess is a good thing. Without competition, there'd just be complacency and no incentive to improve.
