First off, no matter what happens, even if they finish in last (which I think is a possibility), it's a win. They're just here to win back the massive market share that Sony had.

I think the saddest part of this is that MS had a chance to do so much more though. First to market. Awesome library. Fantastic online service. But they got complacent, sat on their hands, and didn't do enough to woo over the remaining customers.

Fix the RROD, lower the cost of online gaming, lower the cost of the console, enhance customer support, advertise better. All things that could have been done to really put away the competition. But instead, they just sat still and watch the weak starting PS3 claw its way back into the race.

Which, I guess is a good thing. Without competition, there'd just be complacency and no incentive to improve.

it's embarassing.....MikeE21286

On many levels.

1) Why is it still not fixed?

2) Why do the competitors not have this issue?

I don't see it.

Software speaking, Sony's library for 2008 is much more impressive.

Hardware speaking, MS's hardware has a highly depressing failure rate. 16%??

I think the 360 is definitely a very nice console but what we are about to witness is the rise of the PS3 in 2008.

January was the first month since the PS3 was released that it outsold the 360 in NA. Not to mention, the 360 still has a considerable lead on the PS3 in NA. How is the PS3 dominating the 360 in NA? :|Erkidu

I believe the excitement is not that the PS3 is "dominating".

It's that the PS3 is seizing the momentum. Weak game library and still able to pull off a worldwide sales win in 2007 over their rival.

And like you've said, they've never beat the 360 in NA before. Sony fans see this as the beginning of the end for MS.

Which, to be fair, is sort of MS's fault for not capitalizing when they could've. Fix the hardware, lower the price, something other than sitting around and waiting for the competition (Sony) to shape up.

Maybe it'll be called:

Anti_RRoD Xbox 360 :|

Otherwise I could give a damn less what they come out with.

-RPGamer-

hahaha

They can get rid of all the other SKUs if they can somehow land their hands on a unit like this

All of its competitors were supply constrained and the PS3 still didn't win :Psexy_chimp

The PS3 beat the 360 for the very 1st time in NA.

That's a win.

And I highly doubt MS was supply constrained. With a coincidental announcement just one day before the official 1/2008 NPD results

If everyone else has a 16% failure rate, sure.

The competition is not only better, it is significantly better.

MS has no excuse and really needs to find a way to continue lowering that rate.

Squall_Griver

Not a great game anyway. Doubt the score changes.
