So far the suggestions are:

  • Ubuntu
  • Kubuntu
  • Gentoo Linux
  • Cedega
  • XSOS 3
  • Beryl

I've visited the ubuntu forums (briefly), and was a bit overwhelmed. Where is a good place to get an introduction for someone with very little Unix background?

Thanks everyone!

Andy Dehnart of MSNBC wrote today his top 5 shows (in Poll, above) that should be canceled. While I agree that there are some shows that should actually have an end to their story (I'm talking to you, Prison Break), I think canceling The Simpsons is a ridiculous idea. In fact, while I don't like several of the shows, I don't think any of them should be canceled since they still bring in advertising dollars and viewers.

Thoughts?

You can get FREE HDTV for life with the right equipment. It might sound like a bad infomercial, but I switched from cable/satellite entirely to Over-The-Air digital broadcasting and now I have all the major networks plus a number of great free stations. With HDTV packages over $100 a month in most areas - particularly here in Boston - this saved us a boatload of cash.

If you're interested in getting HDTV over-the air, you'll need an antenna and receiver. Check out:

I'm sick of being a Microsoft pawn. If I know little about open source operating systems, where would be a good place to start learning about them? What are the pros/cons of switching from Windows? Which of the open source operating systems will be easiest for someone transferring from a Windows environment? Which will allow me to play the most games?

Thanks for any and all advice.

In addition to the previous posts, check the motherboard manufacturer's published list of compatible memory. Most manufacturers, such as ASUS and EVGA, offer some guidance for compatibility right down to the brand and model number and - while your motherboard may work with more memory sticks than are listed by its manufacturer - there is additional peace of mind in the buying process. In some instances buying memory from their approved list may also affect your motherboard warranty.

...and have a few minutes, I'm looking for some feedback on my latest blog entry on financing college, particularly if there are any errors. Just leave a few comments about how you're paying for college if you've got a a few seconds to spare. Thanks in advance.

That's all, sorry to interrupt the religion vs. science thread.

Happy Gaming!

I noticed today that my Profile Views nearly doubled today (+391 New) and I was curious to find out if there was any reason why. I received no particular message and saw no postings that might have caused such a large increase in profile views. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Money will make happy people happier. For everyone else, the money will only make them happy for a short period.

So I didn't vote; there should be an option for, "Sometimes."

Is it free? That would be one reason we don't have it.Dracula68
Yes, it's free. Why does that matter?
