I know this is unsolicited, but note that you would benefit from a dedicated sound card, particularly looking at the rest of your PC setup and how much you've spent. A dedicated card will support the latest surround audio codecs, offer superior quality, and reduce potential noise bleed from your system, such as hard drive read distortion that tends to feed back through the analog connections on motherboard audio chipsets. Just something to consider. Happy gaming, Boz

  1. You do not have a sound card, you have a Realtek ALC889 chipset built into your motherboard.
  2. Yes, you will be able to get surround sound from that Creative speaker system for most content that supports it. There may be come newer content that it does not support, namely anything using the newer EAX 4.0 or 5.0 formats. For the most part, though, you should be good.

After asking around about the Sennheiser HD 202's and 203's, I found the Superlux HD668B's on Headphone, and they seem to be very good (looking at the reviews). Anyone have any feedback on them since they're $50 and I'd be waiting 2-4 weeks for them, or anything similar?

In the first post I state that the list is meant to show only headphones which notably improve upon preceding price ranges, meaning anything listed in the $30 - $40 would be - theoretically - better than those in the $20 - $30 range; YMMV. I have never used the Superlux phones, personally, but have heard good things. I do own a pair of HD202s, and they are excellent for the price, and not too bass-heavy. In its price category, I have not problems recommending the HD202's to anyone interested in an inexpensive, closed-back headphone. Personally I'd go ahead and pull the trigger on the HD202's; they're great headphones, and a particularly good point at which to dip your toes into the discerning headphone marketplace. I hope this is helpful. Boz

There are earbud recommendations by price point in the Headphone FAQ stickied at the top of the forum. I hope it proves helpful. Happy gaming, Boz

If you're looking for wireless headphones for console gaming, I'd give them a try before I resold them. That is, unless the packaging is a blister pack or something that needs to be similarly destroyed, since that limits the resale value.

If you're just looking for a quality pair of headphones, wired or otherwise, I'd consider reselling them for wired headphones with a clip-on mic, like the Audio Technica ATH-M50.

Good luck,

Boz

The amount of music you can fit will depend on the quality of the music.

You've really got to start looking at the dates on those posts there, Kraken. Scootsters bumped this ancient post, though for what reason I cannot say considering scootsters registered his or her account in late 2011, and has had zero forum posts until now; weird. Boz

Users are unable to view my profile, even though it is set to "Everyone" in Settings. Please advise.

*Edit* It looks like I fixed it. Please see if you can view my Profile. If so, then I have isolated the issue. There is still a bug, in this case, it's just different than what I had thought:

  • In account setting Privacy Level is and was always set to "Everyone," as is User Comments set to "Allowed"
  • Under "Site Settings" there is a new setting for "Who can see my profile and see my site contributions in the mini-feed:" This is relatively new, I'm guessing it was launched with the introduction of FUSE. This setting is set to "Just Me" by default.

What this means is that there are essentially two sections of account settings where you can modify profile privacy settings, and modifying one does not change the other.

I suggest either:

  1. Merging the "Blog" tab into the "Site Settings" tab
  2. Removing privacy settings for the blog and feed from the "Site Settings" tab and putting them in the "Blog" tab

This change should eliminate the issue of "Profile set to private" confusion I've seen throughout these boards. :)

Thank you,

Boz
