I couldn't have said it better myself, NVIDIATI! There are great headphones from JVC, KOSS, and Sony, as well, depending on your price, function, and availability.

Read the "Reputable Brands" section of the Headphone FAQ sticky in this forum, as well.

Happy gaming,

Boz

Why waste the time? Bose is nothing special.

NVIDIATI
Really? Dr. Amar Bose invented psychoacoustics, and Bose continues to make breakthroughs in audio engineering. It is a fallacy to compare them against a high-end two-channel audio manufacturer; they design audio products for specific purposes. They invented and continue to make some of the top noise-canceling headphones on the market. The 901s were one of the best-selling - and rightly so - speakers of their day. Hundreds of audio manufacturers have either reverse-engineered their designs or outright adopted their engineering philosophy. Definitive Technology, Harman, and Warfedale are all well-known to be proponents of psychoacoustics. Just recently, in fact (and to the OP's question), Definitive Technology came out with a sound bar eerily similar in design to Bose's (the Mythos SSA-50) with some marketing support discussing psychoacoustics. There are some companies that I'll agree are more splash than substance (e.g. Skullcandy) and others that have cheap products designed for undercutting (Coby), but Bose is neither of them. They are a cutting-edge audio engineering firm, even if they are not an audiophile firm. Now if you want to say that their products are overpriced, or that their products are taken by competing firms and improved, that's an angle I can endorse! Happy gaming, Boz

I would not associate Sennhesier with Maserati. Sennheiser has everything from the low end (HD280) to the high end (HD800). Sennheiser would be more like Volkswagen. Ford is actually a pretty decent car company. I would instead associate Skullcandy with a 90's used 2-door coupe Ford with a large muffler, spoiler, flames painted on the doors, and a subwoofer in the trunk. In otherwords, it is a gimmick.simplyderp
I think you read WAY too much into my analogy. All I'm saying is sure, they're both cars, but they're in different leagues. Silly Pikachu. Boz

Skullcandy and Sennheiser and not comparable headphones. It's like comparing a Maserati with a Ford (Note: Skullcandy is the Ford).

As far as NOX goes, it's too early to tell; no major reviews or evaluations, such as Frequency Response graphs and Harmonic Distortion measurements, have been published, so far as I'm aware.

Even IE 9.0.1 on a separate computer isn't allowing me to upload images. Are any other users having this issue? This is three different browsers, so I'm hopeful it's not a browser issue.

I have several blogs I'd like to add, but need the image host working.

First, read the sticky, then buy the linked Zalman clip-on Mic.

As an aside, nice headphones! :oI hope you're going for the Asus Xonar Essence STX to support them!

Enjoy!

Well I have onboard audio... I don't have a soundcard lol :(Mozelleple112
Most onboard audio chips over a year old do not support Dolby Live, which is how you get your digital audio signal unless you have content encoded in digital in the first place. Further, if your DVD/Blu-Ray software does not have a licensed digital audio encoder, it might also not be providing a digital signal! I found all this out when I set up my own home theater PC. Here's what I would suggest, find out your motherboard make and determine its audio chipset (typically a Realtek chipset), then visit the chipset manufacturers website and figure out if it supports Dolby Live. While you're there, download the latest drivers as well. Secondly, have you tried playing a DVD? In particular, if you have something like Lord of the Rings - which is encoded in both DTS and Dolby Surround - try switching audio formats on the fly and seeing if your receiver changes settings appropriately. Finally, come back and let us know your receiver model, motherboard model, and audio chipset, then we'll help figure it out from there. Good luck, Boz

Still doesn't work. They all say one thing: I need a java-enabled browser even though mine is, in fact, java-enabled.The-Apostle
Even though your browser might be java-enabled, you still need to have the latest version of java installed. You can check to see if it's working by visiting the following page and following the instructions: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp. If you have any browser addons installed, like AdBlock Plus or NoScript, you may need to disable them or add an exception. Good luck! Boz

You'll find increased activity as a Game Night approaches. The next game night is scheduled for August 10th, so it'll be pretty quiet for the next few weeks unless Gamespot staff decide to spring something on us last-minute.

Happy gaming,
