That is not the problem. There are HUGE differences here. Blocking a used game or pulling a used game activation code is the same as renting a license to play the game. You WONT own the game. The publishers owns the games rights, and they will allow you to play the game for as long as they like. Not blocking the game or putting a activation code on it means that you OWN the game, not renting it. Do you want to pay $60 to rent a license to play? I wont.....It really is amazing how many people actually support the banning of used games. I hope you kids never borrowed anything from the library, or from a friend, or bought any sort of used product. Hypocrits. The game industry is the only one who is crying about something people have been able to do forever. You don't see authors crying about how their books are read at a library nor do you see car manufacturers raising hell about used cars. Publishers have a stick up their ass.

BuldozerX's forum posts
They skewed the truth. They said they wouldn't be blocking used games, and coming from a platform holder that sounds as good as "all used games will not be blocked." "Hold on guys, WE won't be blocked used games. Anyone else can. Tataaa"[QUOTE="Neon_Noir"][QUOTE="Speedzilla"]
Sony didn't lie, little lemming. It's up to the publishers, not Sony.
LONG LIVE SONY!
Speedzilla

Yup, they're not blocking used games. Thank you Sony.
That statement actually said nothing. Will these play on a trial basis, with an additional cost to unlock the full game? Unless they clearly define what all this means, no PS4 (or Xbox 720) in my house.
About the Eurogamer interview:

Jupp. I see people dont discuss this anymore because they think they are safe.

Are you people somehow stupid enough to not notice what Sony is actully doing?
They only confirmed that a used disc would play on the PS4. From their point of view it seems like a logical thing to do, because then they don`t have to offer every single game digital when a game is out of brand new copies. Eurogamer never followed up on their answer. They should have asked if it would require any fee to activate the used games, but they did not, but others did.
Gamespot reports:
On activation codes for secondhand PS4 titles:
It's a publisher decision. We are not talking about it. Sorry.

Well, you all know what the publishers want? They want to block used games, and Sony will not take the fault, because they can blame the publishers.
When Game Informer asked them the same question, they refused to talk about it. They said:
"We are just now announcing the basic vision and strategy of PS4 and will have more information to share regarding used games later this year."

I don`t know what the hell they are doing. Now almost everyone thinks that the PS4 will be playing used games without any hassle. But if you do some basic research and read the questions you will soon notice that they are dodging the questions, and are most likely planning some fee to activate each game. This is IMO worse than blocking the games 100%.
Just in:

"We are just now announcing the basic vision and strategy of PS4 and will have more information to share regarding used games later this year. But PlayStation has a long history of keeping its gamers happy and we won't make decisions that damage our relationship with them."
The fact that this spokesperson could not give a simple "yes" to the question indicates that issue is far from settled.

Please he said you can use used games
McStrongfast
Really? Please highlight the line where he said; You can use used games on the PS4.
Eurogamer: So if someone buys a PlayStation 4 game, you're not going to stop them reselling it?
Shuhei Yoshida Aaaah. [Asks PR adviser.] So what was our official answer to our internal question? [Consults adviser.]
So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?
Used games can play and used games can play if you pay a bunch of money to activate it are two different things.
There.
I need to clarify something, because it`s pretty obvious that the majority of gamers might be a bunch of stupid people.
1. YES, it`s confirmed that the PS4 will run used games. That sounds logical, because now Sony doesn`t have to offer every single game digital when a game is out of stock.
BUT... Here is the problem.
The line ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
2. Sony tells the media that activation codes for used games will be UP TO THE PUBLISHERS.... Meaning?? Yes, that will probably block used games anyway.
3. When asked how this will work, Sony REFUSED to talk about it.
=
You have to pay for the disc at Gamestop (or some other place that offers it). Go home, insert the disc. Pay AGAIN. This pretty much eliminates used games IMO. You guys are so mind **** by Sony, its hard to watch.
I think its stupid by Eurogamer not to follow up their answer with this question. Even though they allow used games, they didnt say anything about having to pay to activate each game.
