Somone probably already mentioned this but didn't Kojima once say he was done with MGS after MGS2? Or was it MGS3? Heh this series will never end! Not that I'm complaining, I like me some MGS! Just hope the next one other than Rising is for the consoles as I don't like handheld gaming all too much.

Alan Wake might be one of the best flops I've ever played, although Heavy Rain might beat it out. Not sure yet, haven't had a chance to play it yet.

Yeah I gotta agree. I simply do not like the matchmaking system in my multiplayer games and I never will. Honestly it just ruins the online portions of games for me, most recently probably being Forza 3. I mean look, I understand and realize that the matchmaking system has some benefits for ranked matches being played online. Things like truskill keeping the match somewhat evenly matched and preventing people from ranking up simply by playing their best map over and over again, etc. But for people like me who don't give a crap about rank I just wanna be able to go online and play what I want to play when I want to play it. I don't need nor want the game telling me what I get to play and making me play some garbage gametype or map I don't like. No thanks.

I mean sure most games that use a matchmaking system also tend to offer a Custom game setup but they are mostly always limited to people on your friends list only. So if you dont have enough friends online to get a decent game going -which happens to me more often then not- you are pretty much screwed.

A simple fix you would think would be to just open up the unranked custom games for everyone using a simple traditional server browser setup where you could simply search by map, gametype, # of players and other factors like that. If they did that everyone would be happy I'd think. People who like the matchmaking system can just play ranked games and those who don't could play unranked games. Everybody wins.

Problem is though from what I've read on a few different dev forums -back when I used to actively read and post on them- like Bungie, Turn 10 and Epics. The devs all pretty much said that if they gave us open unranked rooms along with a matchmaking system for ranked rooms that they feared that the majority of people would simply play using the unranked games thereby making the matchmaking system less effective because it works better when there are large amounts of people using it.

So to me that sounds like they do indeed realize that likely a larger amount of people would really prefer a open server browser setup but instead of giving us that they lock unranked games from the public and essentially force Matchmaking on us in order to keep the matchmaking system alive and working. Which really ticks me off.

But anyway enough of my rant on Matchmaking LOL!

Why did this need another thread? Why couldn't you just use your other one? Or did that get locked?

Thats a pretty cool deal there at Gamestop I guess. I would do it but my Xbox 360 has been acting funny lately giving my RROD sometimes when I turn it on but if I turn it on and off a few times it starts working again and plays just fine. So I doubt they'd take my Xbox:( . I'll probably just end up buying one later at full price once my Xbox completely stops working whenever that is.

Well so far I'd have to say Xbox 360 is a little bit better with a good mix of WRPG's and JRPG's but the PS3 has been getting more RPG's lately I think so PS3 not bad either.

Yeah it might surpass the 360 at some point but I dunno if it can catch the Wii. Still either way looks like this gen each console will be quite successful with no complete domination like we saw with the PS2 last gen.

Just wondering. I've never played a MH game before but I'm considering picking up MH3 cause I hear its similar to PSO and I used to love myself some PSO on the Dreamcast. So is it true that its sorta like PSO and is MH3 a good game to pick up for someone new to the francise? Thanks.
