As long as they don't do too much cross-over stuff with Disney franchises, it'll be alright. I actually wouldn't mind a Disney cartoon movie crossover thing with Marvel if it were just like Aladdin, Hercules, some of the better ones...

I wouldn't mind seeing Thor team up with Hercules or something like that to battle supernatural foes. It's not going to be horrible per se, but it COULD be

Completely unexpected, but I do wonder how this will play off. A lot of you guys seem to think that because Disney bought Marvel, that the company now officially sucks... You do realize that, especially in more recent years, Disney has been quite good to their new branches in their company. Look at when Disney bought Pixar. People at the time feared that Pixar would officially suck because Disney would take over the company... But that's not at all what happened. Disney let Pixar be Pixar, and they're still good as ever. I think Disney recognizes the talents that other companies have, and they'll let them do what they always do.Nerd_Man
Well my thinking here though is that Pixar is producing things that are up Disney's alley from what people expect from a "Disney" title: kid stuff with maybe a couple more complex themes but for the most part a predictable story that plays out where everyone goes "AWWWW" and is happy at the end. Marvel is a whole different bag. Now, I don't think Marvel is going to go down the toilet, not by any means and I agree that it's nice to have the financial backing now, but what kind of spin offs (not even necessarily with other Disney characters, but in general) will we see based on Disney's MO of family friendly films? Again, I don't think Marvel as a whole is going to go down the crapper, I'm just worried about the drivel they'll release with the coersion of Disney. Oh well, I don't have to buy it.

You can see your purchase history on the computer and then you could print it off.

Yeah it's a tough season for games with a lot of good stuff coming out but I'll probably get this in the first week or two.

[QUOTE="wigan_gamer"]Unfortunately for me I think that is the opinion of a lot of gamers now. But for me the combat system was perfect and even though I have put in over 1000 hours(probably closer to 1050) into FF 1-10, I am still as much in love with the combat as I was when I first played it :)seankane

Its funny, though. While I still love going back and playing old Final Fantasy games, I believe thats in large part due to nostalgia. Cuz when I played Lost Odyssey, the slow, turn-based combat really did feel a bit outdated. Maybe that was just my specific reaction to that one game, and not turn-based combat in general, but I dont know. I do admit I would be a bit skeptical if FF decides to go back to the old system. From what it seems, FFXIII will be a mix between old turn-based fighting and FFXII's more active system, so hopefully it'll be both modern and satisfying for those who want the old combat.

Yeah it looks like you're going to have some turn based aspects with the timer and things like that. What I can't tell from the demos and stuff is if you can move your character around. There is still a separate screen for battle so that's back to the more normal style. If you can't move your character around (and since you'll be able to control multiple I wouldn't expect it) then I'll be really happy.

[QUOTE="CNUrGames"][QUOTE="wigan_gamer"] I didnt like 12 either, it wasn't a final fantasy as long as im concerned. I want true turn based or nothing.seankane

That's a bit much. I'm all for innovation. I liked 12 but the fighting wasn't my favorite style at all. This is turn based it's jsut the game doesn't pause when you don't do your attack and you only control one person. From what I've seen at least.

In the demo, you could only control one person, but its been confirmed that this is just a demo-only thing, and that you will have the ability to control all your characters individually in the final game, should you choose to do so.

And as for the other discussion we were having - you're definitely right that if you divide the overall sales figures of the FF games and GTA games by the number of iterations of each, that it still tilts in favor of GTA, I was just kinda pointing out that Final Fantasy IS a big deal. You might know more about whats worth keeping a store open for midnight launch and everything since you've previously worked at a game store, I just kind of expect FFXIII to be a pretty big deal. You may be right, though. We'll see.

P.S. I loved FFXII. It wasn't my favorite, but it still captivated me for over 100 hours of playtime.

No argument here on any of it. I can't wait to play this game. I really need a fix of some Final Fantasy action

For me to buy this game the story/characters would have to be really outstanding... I just dont like RPG's (where you have a party as such) and it isn't just simple turn based combat. The last FF I loved was 10 (not including FFXI, atlhough it was good its an MMO.) I just think if it isnt broke dont fix it... so why they changed combat I have no idea.

Trying to add some life to the series and change things up. The stories are always built on the same archetypes which is ok, because they're still good and it's a good formula but the gameplay can't stay the same all the time.

[QUOTE="CNUrGames"]I think the combat looks more fast paced and interesting than straight turn based but less frantic than 12's combat system was. I'm definitely liking it from what I've seen.wigan_gamer
