Caduceus06 Blog

I shot the Garif. But I didn't shoot the Chocobo.

We arrived at the Garif village, went through all the cut scenes.  All my characters are level 23-24.  I need to go back to Rabanastre and get some marks and such and bring everybody up to 25.  I suppose I need to head east out into the Estersand and see whether that is where I need to go...

New Kitchen Color!

Well, we finally finished painting the kitchen today.  My wife was sick and I got tired of stepping over the materials when I got back home from church today.

We had done about 75% of the lower walls, hadn't taped off the upper molding because we hadn't brought in a large ladder as we live in an old house and the ceilings are about 10 feet.

She chose an olive color, which I'm not wild about, but I have learned to let her do the colors she wants, because a.) she's usually ahead of the curve as far as "in" colors for fashion and paints and b.) I'm color blind and c.) she spends more time in the kitchen than I do (her words).

Just another brick...

Well, I managed to find a better bow for Fran in the city of the dead last night. I haven't been able to beat the first demon wall yet.

Nothing too exciting to report as it has been a busy week with both illness, work and general chaos. Maybe this weekend I can make it to another cut-scene.

For those Hardcore Hobbyists Out there...

Stained Glass PC ... Wow.  That is pretty cool.

Well, I was sick last night, so I didn't get a chance to turn on the system, but over the weekend, I made it through the western desert, fought the Wyvvern Lord (Mark), the flying critter outside the City of Death and killed the wall creature.

Not so bad.  Not so bad.  Now I need to go back in and sort everything out...

Found a way across the Refinery Field

I found a way across the Refinery field, and hoped it would be a little more difficult than 3 sequential zones westward.  I will go through each little section, which I have cleared a few of already.

I like the "tomato men" and the "sandpeople" are fun (though annoyingly numerous).  I like the toads as well.  A wyvvern attacked at one point, which was pretty exciting.

I am not sure what the difference it is, but the subterranean cave beneath the zone, has gels in it which when you approach from the Refinery zone aren't too tough, but from Westersea are darn difficult.  I guess I need to pay attention to stats more...

Again, with the Cluckatrice

Went over to the Ghiza Plains to clear out that little Cluckatrice matter - clear the area east of the village, return, fight chicks and mum.  Again, a level or two makes all the difference in the difficulty of the fight.  This was in-between calls last night, so I saved in Rabanastre, with the thought of going back to the shops to see if they have any new gear or spells, etc.  Penelo has become my major caster, when Vaan isn't in the party.

Take that Ghis!!

Well, tromped through Dreadnought Leviathan without much difficulty and stacked my Quickenings when confronted with Judge Ghis and knocked his helmet right off.

I am not sure what the vortex he was opening was doing and what the processed nethicite did.  I guess it will become more clear soon enough.

Now, through the desert again to another dungeon!!

Battlestar Galactica

Finally got to see last Sunday's show.  The move from Friday to Sunday on SciFi has totally ruined me.  I just can't stay up until eleven to watch TV.  Now, my weeks don't feel complete on Fridays without it.  Complete bummer.

On the upside, Baltar, apparently, is not a cylon, everyone is re-committed to the marriage vows they took in the first place (though Kara may still be struggling), the fleet is still looking for Eart and Baltar will go on trial for treason against humanity.

Sounds good.  Now we have to wait an extra week as they won't go up against the Super Bowl.

Forget the Rocktortise! I'm moving on.

Well, I have moved on in FF XII.  After a snow day and no work, woo!  The primary characters are all 18th or 19th level and after several unsuccessful attempts to cream the Rocktortise in Lhusu mines, I have decided to move on.

So, I went on to see the Marquis (pronounced mar-key as far as I am aware, but what do I know?) who promptly threw us in jail, allowing us a chance to rescue the princess.  So, is it deliberate or not?  The two judges outside the jail cell went down a lot easier now that I have gained a few levels and used my quickenings on the first.  Gotta love the "Congratulations" screen...

I did beat the first two Colossi in Shadow.  Climbed up the first one's left calf, stabbed a few times, drove him to his knees, then scaled up to get to his head.  The second required using the bow to shoot under the front hoof.  When the critter stumbled, ran up the calf and again climbed up to stab the head.  The sigil moved to the back.  But we successfully slayed it.  Now off to the third this weekend...

In the Shadows (to the left)

Well, to take a break from Final Fantasy XII, since I can't get past the dang RockTortise in Lhusu Mine, I started Shadow of the Colossus.  I only started with the first Colossus last night, as it was late, and I ended up getting up WAAY too early to change bedsheets for a baby, so it was a good call.

It brings to mind, who exactly is the bad guy in this game? I mean, you're hunting down these large critters.  A bodiless creature sends you out to destroy them to revive a dead girlfriend?

I am interested to see how this turns out, though I have a long road to go before I see the end cinematics, I suppose.  The music for the opening was quite good.  I wonder if it is available somewhere...
