I actually own this monitor and have to say I'm quite happy with it. Yes, the specs aren't the best but for the price, can't complain. Also, I have heard of people complaining about light bleeding from behind it but I haven't noticed anything of the sort. The best thing to do though is look at all of your options and then select the best. If this happens to be it (Mine at the time) then go for it.

Take a lesson from South Park, only Mormons go to heaven....and if only mormons go to heaven....is it really heaven anymore? Just kidding. Personally, I hate these religious discussions. They don't really belong on this kind of website and usually end up in someone getting offended due to another person being arrogant of their religious beliefs. So why can't we all just live our lives to the best that it can be and ignore tossing in a dash of religion everywhere?

If you already have a gaming machine at home I'd say you have a good purchase there. Yes, the graphics chipset isn't the top of the line but if you aren't planning on playing the heavy games (Which you shouldn't on a laptop anyways) then it is fine. The whole tablet feature is actually a very neat feature and for school it can help out a lot. I prefer a keyboard to writting on a tablet though but it is user preference. As for Vista, it is kinda like playing Russian Roulette. You might be the lucky sap not to get shot this round but you never know till you pull the trigger. Anyways, congrats on the marks and enjoy your new laptop.

Just remember, purchase something that will make you feel that it was worth it. Don't just purchase on what people tell you to buy here. Trust me, they think you will have deep pockets most of the time.

Ah, got to enjoy that friend that always try to sound smarter than you at computers. Haven't had that problem since I graduated from the Computer Support Specialist program at the college. Anyways, your dual core processor will work fine with Vista 32 bit and if you want to go back to XP, all you need to do is patch the system to allow it. (It is a quick boot.ini change that is done via servicepack/manufacturer patch) If I were you thought, I'd get the 32bit version, it has less issues with software and the industry still hasn't pushed to 64bit yet. (Come on guys, it has been how many years now?)

The above poster is correct. Ensure that you also select wireless G products (Although it is hard not to) for the extra speed. Best practice for wireless is to place the wireless router/access point close to the bulk of systems you will be using the most as it will offer you the strongest signal strength for those systems.

Hmm, here is a question that no one has asked. Are you using a wireless router and have everything running wireless? If so, then a coordless phone can actually knock down the wireless part of the network due to the frequencies can be similar between the phone and router.

And if not, then you may need to call your ISP and see if you require line filters as they are required in some DSL installations as it runs over the phone line.

Looks like a good build. Also, it is nice to see people helping someone who wants an AMD processor instead of just slamming him.

Well when you turn on your computer, you give it a harsh shot to the moving components as they go from rest to full speed. If you do this frequently it can cause wear/damage but it doesn't occur often. As for leaving it on, that can bring on other issues. Such as wear of moving parts as they are continously is motion and the degrading of electrical parts as they are always in use.

Also, one simple thing that most people tend to forget is the CMOS battery. If you turn off your computer a lot, then the CMOS battery is on more often to keep your BIOS settings. Eventually the battery will die and your BIOS settings will have to be reset. But that being the fact means you can simply replace the battery and get another 4-5 years without worrying about it dying again.

So, there is no real difference between leaving it on or off as both have their disadvantages.

How is the 8800gts 320mb expensive??? that is the best card for the money. It doubles the performance of a crappy ati 1950 pro.Samer12

Dude, leave the guy alone. The GPU and processor that he wants to get will play the games he wants and play them decently. Stop with the slamming and try to help him out by giving him suggestions other than "Screw this man, get a C2D and a better graphics card than that."

Command and Conquer: Red Alert. Nothing like taking it to the commies with a fleet of battleships or a brigade of mammies.
