comparing apples and oranges... An OS is not a car...

XaosII

Really? An OS is not a car? Did you come up with that realization all by yourself?

Here at my workplace, we had several Vista computer mixed in with XP machines and they all ran our accounting package fine. Got some new systems in with Windows 7 32bit/64bit and low and behold our accounting package would crap out when trying to run certain reports/run certain modules. Spoke with the software developer about it and they stated "We don't officially support Windows 7 at this current moment. It may work but we cannot support it until we do enough in house testing and get all components working correctly". Did I go on a tirade about how it should be illegal or that they deceived me? Nope, it's progression of technology and some things will work and some will have issues, you either find a work around or you don't let it bother you.

Actually this is supposably happening to ALLOT of people. If you type crysis windows 7 in the google search bar almost every single link is someone who has problems.

I don't know if it matters but I've been playing MW: Living Legends with no issue on my 64Bit Windows 7 machine. Haven't tried the non-modded Crysis though.

I say they should do the following: 1. Hammer instead of wrench. Builds buildings 25% faster for people who like getting turrets up quickly. 2. Flamethrower add-on to turrets. Sure missile launchers are great but give me a flame thrower to throw on it instead and imagine the choke point you could create. 3. Utility Belt. Allows the engineer to hold 50 more metal then normal. I know I would love extra metal when placing buildings in areas with low metal respawns. Anyone else agree?

Engi is the most boring class, but I'm glad to see all the updates for each class going out and done.pvtdonut54
Boring? How is being what I like to call a "Combat" engineer boring? When I'm roaming the enemy base, placing decoy turrets to disrupt their plans, and killing tons of people with my shotgun when I should be out gunned.... boring my keister....

Napoleon is worth the extra moneyrobokill
I like Napoleon as much as the next guy but for $10 Empire is well worth it. Also, the grand campaign in Empire is the factor that didn't make Napoleon as good to me.

PC games to me are only worth it if you can max them out.

thingta42
Gameplay > Graphics There is a reason why I can still load up any of the Homeworld games, Mount&Blade, X3 and a ton of older games (Just purchased Interstate 76') and enjoy them immensely. Add in the fact that I have to play at lower settings in certain games to get the performance I feel is required but does it stunt the game? Not really. If a game has either A) A great story or B) Great gameplay mechanics then it is vastly superior to a game that just totes graphics. This is the reason why I enjoy the PC. It contains many genres that I cannot find on the console or niche markets that will satisfy my interests.

[QUOTE="ChiliDragon"]I wrote a blog on PC Gaming recently (the one linked in my sig) where I only touched on pricing very briefly, but the point I wanted to make was that the "cost" of PC gaming is only an issue if you're actually low on money. If you're a grown-up with a steady job and some disposable income, putting money aside towards a hardware upgrade every 12 months or so shouldn't be very difficult for you, if know how to manage your budget and balance it every month. It's just like saving up for anything else.Jandurin
I'm always saving money, and the bigger the chunk that comes out of my savings, the bigger the chunk (not percentage-wise, mind). It doesn't matter how "affordable" it is relatively.

I play paintball every couple of weeks. Startup costs: $260 for paintball marker $50 for mask $40 for C02 Tank $100 for field membership $80 for 2000 paintballs Add in the fact that I go through a case of paint (2000) once a month and also require refilling my C02 tank every game adds extra cost. The thing is, it is a hobby which is the same that PC gaming is and it costs money. Do I say "Well I can get an airsoft gun for cheaper" or "If I get a laser tag set I only need to worry about batteries once in a while", no as I paid my money and get what I want out of the hobby. Same goes for PC Gaming. I own a Wii and 360 and play them from time to time and the "cost" that is forever attributed to PC gaming has never really be a problem for me. No I don't make a lot of money a year or anything like that, I just budget my money to include my hobbies which is what all people should do. Also, let's look at the startup cost of a console: $250 - $300 for the console $60 - $80 for additional controllers $60 for online services $60 for game ($10 more then PC games on average) $300 - $3000 Cost of HD TV if you don't already have one. Trust me, not everyone has one such as myself. So stating that consoles are inherently cheaper is fine but when you add in all of the features that you want to get the most out of your console it can be considerably higher then the cost of a PC.

That may be true, but if a company like Activision came in and bought them out via hostile takeover, they might not care as much about letting people keep playing their previous purchases. It's happened to me before with a movie that I bought, and I don't see why it couldn't happen with this.guynamedbilly
A hostile can only occur if a company is publicly traded on the stock market, which Valve software isn't. The control of Valve is in the hands of it's co-founders and I also recall Gabe basically stating that everyone working for Valve "owns" a small piece of the company. So I wouldn't worry to much about a hostile takeover or any take over for that matter. It would only occur if the Valve owners decided to sell it on their own terms.

So far ME2 is looking good.

Is UT2004 better than UT3?

And how is Mount & Blade?

[QUOTE="Whiteblade999"]

Define good graphics. A game from 2003 looks good to me so keep that in mind but try:

Mount & Blade: Warband

Medieval II: Total War

Arma 2

Unreal Tournament 2004 (I'm at 50 hours with only bots)

Dragon Age

QuitoFOOL

Let me put it to you this way. I only purchased UT3 for a complete conversion mod called Renegade X. The actual game was stripped of everything that made UT2K4 so great.

[QUOTE="GazaAli"][QUOTE="shakmaster13"][QUOTE="GazaAli"]

[QUOTE="GazaAli"]whats this game about guys?ionusX

basically main characters daddy is killed in a coup and your on the run with whats left of the loyal armies of house steiner. you objective to geurilla war them off your planets one.. mech.. at.. a.. time..!!

its a very snazzy game and its a serious shame the series owners and those with the licensces cant get their heads out of the gutter over wether or not they have the right to make another one and just let them.. no one plays their silly pen n paper edition anymore so essentially your holding onto a dead licensce and sapping off licenscing claims.. get over it...

is ti worth it? or very outdated? I would like to play some online.

The graphics of course won't be top of the line anymore but the gameplay really holds up. If you have ever wanted to control a walking gun platform and fighting other mechs this is a great game to play.
