Lately I have been mostly Insurging...

Yes that's right, on Tuesday Insurgency was released and I must say that it is possibly the greatest mod ever along with Red Orhcestra and Desert Combat (a mod for Battlefield 1942). I'm waiting patiently to write my review as only Beta 1.0 has been released although they have already anounced a 1.1 patch which is set to change almost every bug I've noticed.

At the moment I've not been playing it much due to these bugs, because of server crashes and the like it can take me a very long time to find a good game and then just as I'm getting into it after playing it for half-an-hour or an hour it'll decide to be mean and crash. As a result I downloaded the F.E.A.R demo to keep me entertained.

It's very good but I'm going to wait and buy some more RAM before buying it as it's quite hardware intensive and at the moment, although my video card should be able to max out every setting, I'm only able to play with all of the gameplay options maxed but with textures on medium and everything else on low...and the framerate stil sucks. That said it's still highly entertaining so I can't wait to see how good it'll be when I can actually play it properly. Ah...nothing better than blowing off a man's lef with a shotgun, ooh! - or even better, blowing him UP with a shot gun so only a cloud of blood is left...in slooow moootiooon.

Okay...now I'm getting really annoyed

Insurgency is still to be released, everytime I go on their downloads page they just change the date of release forward one day everyday, yesterday it was 1st July today it is 2nd July and I can imagine that will go on for some time.

Still Royal Mail continue to strike although it should end today so perhaps, at last, I can get my copy of The Movies I ordered something like 9 days ago now.

Phew, that's all, I just wanted to get THAT off my chest. Needless to say I'll be annoyed when I get what I want too as I'll have The Movies and Insurgency to play at once...an irritating predicament indeed; I'm just never satisfied.

EDIT: Considering how slowly the Insurgency website is running right now it is most likely that someone is attempting to upload the mod now and has been for some time considering how large a file it is, even if they are doing it in parts. Even if it is finished today (GMT) I won't be bothering to download it now, I'll do it the morning so I can play it when I return from school...ah, I just realised, a half day aswell! Ah, so glorious, what a fantastic turn of events. Well, a half day for most, Tom, me and Jonny have a detention with the beast.

FarCry, Insurgency and a new review...

I have just finished FarCry and the review can be found here. I won't bother writing a summary of the review as I'm in a lazy mood today. Also, the Insurgency Mod (view my trailer here) should be released TODAY! I'm very excited as I've been waiting for this for some time. Sadly...the download link is still not up on their site so I'll have to wait patiently. Expect a blog based review for that sometime next week.

So as I say often: Stay tuned folks!

News and more news...about me:

Curse you Royal Mail and your intorable ways; "Ooh, we can't compete with the other postal services." "We can't work in these conditions!" Bah, why have you gone on strike!? Are you not aware that I'm waiting for my £3 copy of a 2 year old game from Amazon!? Grrr....

So, as you can probably tell, The Movies is yet to arrive, probably owing to the Royal Mail's biggest strike in a decade - they've always got something to moan about. Any hoo...seen as I'm bored waiting I decided to re-install FarCry after finding a "tweak" guide on the internet. Before, on my reasonably old video card and 512RAM I was unable to play on anything more than medium graphics...and still have awful FPS. So, with this "tweak" guide I have managed to perfect my settings to play the game on high texture settings at the cost of some special effects and lighting effects. I must say that I'm quite enjoying the game now I am half way through although I don't think it is as good as I have been led to believe by magazines and the like.

Playing the game has also made me realise that most game engines won't allow me to play on higher than medium graphics with my low RAM and old graphics card. For example, I downloaded the F.E.A.R demo a few monthes ago and should be able to play it on high graphics, however, I find I can hardly play it on medium graphics as the game stutters so much. As a result I'm going to save up for some new RAM (another 512MB upgrade to equal 1024MB, or "1GB") at £40.

Hmm...actually, mabye I'll snoop around for the same thing at a lower price, however, I don't want to stray too far from the pack as Dell run a handy system on their website where you pick your type and model of computer and then they list all of the upgrades that can fit it and seen as I know little about RAM - well, not as much as I do about video cards - I'll play it safe and buy what they recommend.

PS. I'll edit that last bit if I find something cheaper/better.

Odd...

I know Gamespot glitches alot but this is the 1st time I've encountered this...my blog header, my avatar and my banner have dissapeared. Strange.

Hmm...even stranger, just as I typed "strange" it all came back.

So, a pointless blog indeed.

Back off camp and a new review...

I ordered Call of Duty 2 for PC before I went to camp. The 1st thing I did when I got back was play it non-stop and then again the next day...as a result I've already finished it. Pathetic console game on PC!

I also played the mutliplayer for around about 1 minute and hated it so now the review is up. Enjoy!

Also, Ben was asking me how Garry's Mod works so I'll record a gameplay video of me making a simple contraption with "Gamercam"; a free gameplay recorder for PC games.

Yet again: Stay tuned folks!

Edit: New info guys; review has been edited slightly along with the scores (gave value a 5 and graphics a 10). Also, I have just ordered The Movies off Amazon for all of £3 (don't you just love how cheap older PC games are?). The Movies is a Sims stlye game where you own a sort of Warner Brothers studios like movie studio starting in the 20s and then leading all the way to now. It includes the ability to write your own scripts, add you own music and upload the films onto the internet (so I'll put some links in my blogs to films I've made and posted).I'll also be getting the Stunts and Special Effects expansion which allow for fancy explosions, stunts, car chases and minutures but this costs more than the actual game because Amazon has no second-hand copies of it...darn! Can't wait - should be here by Wednesday at the earliest, Friday at the latest.

Ooh yes! Also, I now havea replacement for my Tagger icon I got for lot's of tags! Now it is different...for being a super-tagger...or something like that. :P

Gears of War is ruining my gaming...

Out of all mine and my brother's friends, we are the only ones with a good connection. As such, Joe is forced into hosting every Gears match through the router (and thus the same connection I'm using). So, I'm happily fragging some krauts on Day of Defeat on a relativly local server (anything in Europe works for me) with my nice low ping of 30 when one of you jokers with your awful internet connection join my brother's game and it jumps my ping up to 900! As a result I am kicked from the game.

So, my message to you, Ben and Tom, is host your own damn games! It ain't our fault if you weren't clever and got an NTL (now Virgin) connection for the same price as every where else but double the speed! Stop ruining a real man's...PC gamer's, gaming!

;)

PS. To Johnathan who seem to be autistic lately. This is a light hearted post that is meant as a joke - hence the winking smiley face at the end.

Wow wow wow! Very nice - I like!

Huraah, the first trailer for Ace Combat 6 complete with an awful storyline and terrible voice acting! I must say, the graphics are very nice (as has come to be expected of the series) and the aircraft animations are perfect for those who know what they are looking for. I'll have to buy this to play over next summer when my brother is off from uni...wow, my first 360 purchase.

Also, Joe is also getting a PS3 on the Friday I come back from camp (ah yes, another point, I'm on camp all next week) with Resistence for free - don't ask me how that works - Formula 1 to buy, Grand Turismo for free and Tekken 5 for a small price. Very nice! I can't wait to play Resistance on the streets of Manchester...and in the so-called "sacreligious" Manchester Cathedral scene, coincidently where Manchester United's Garry Neville has just been married in - I don't think he was attacked by vicous aliens though.... :)

Huraah!

Huraah! At last I have revieved my "hella old school" emblem. Although I'm not really bothered, I'm glad I have it at last. What I'm confused about, however, is that I should have had it months ago but have only recieved it now (without adding any classic games to my games list). Very odd.

Also, I didn't cheat to get mine - Clarke added SNES and NES games that he's never even heared of, let alone own, just to get the emblem. How sad.

;)

Damn that movie-maker...

I'm trying to make a new trailer for the Insurgency - Modern Infantry Combat mod that is to be released this month. This trailer (as I have already made an unnoficial trailer already) will be less lazy as the previous one was the official trailer just with new music. The new one - expect to see it soon - will be properly edited by me like my many other trailers and will feature the fantastic music of Jimi Hendrix's Machine Gun; an anti-Vietnam song from way back. Although the ****of the song is obviously more 60's or 70's and so might not fit 2007 Iraq I'm am doing some clever editing to have it nice and calm and then when Mr.Hendrix makes a the sound of a machine-gun with eccessive vibrato and a wa-wa pedal (which is amazing anyway, to say the least) the will be a quick 1 to 2 second clip of some one firing and automatic weapon. The trailer will have no sound save that of the music so I hope this will work really well in the final trailer.

I'm having a problem with movie-maker, however, when it gets to a certain point in the song the video play-back lags and it skips out 2 to 3 seconds of film before catching up...the spot on the song is one of the many machine-gun sound parts and so is vital to the trailer. Damn you you slow running, badly made, CPU eating program!

So mabye it will get done...mabye it won't. Stay tuned folks.
