Gaming Year 2010

The games I played and completed throughout 2010 are:

Alan Wake
Assassin's Creed II
Band Hero
Bayonetta
BioShock 2
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
God of War III
Guitar Hero: Smash Hits
Guitar Hero: Van Halen
LIMBO
Lego Rock Band
Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad
Prison Break: The Conspiracy
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Rhythm Heaven
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie

From what i played through Bayonetta is easily my game of the year. Simply fantastic. An honorable mention goes out to SMT: Strange Journey. Real shame that there aren't any plans to release it in Europe, I put 100 hours into it and still feel i could go back to it.

I've also put several days combined into playing games like CoD Black Ops and Battlefield Bad Company 2 online, without ever sitting down and finishing the single player campaigns. Both games are massively fun with the right crowd, and it's nice to play a CoD where my K/D ratio is comfortably over 1.00 for a change.

There are a tonne of games that came out in the past year that i haven't played yet but would really like to. maybe this year I'll cut out stuff like Prison Break and Onechanbara and focus on the prime cuts instead.

Gaming Year 2009

Here are the games I played and completed throughout 2009.

Battlefield: Bad Company
The Beatles: Rock band
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
DJ Max Portable - Clazziquai Edition
Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice
FIFA Soccer 10
Fallout 3
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Guitar Hero 5
Guitar Hero: Metallica
The King of Fighters XII
Left 4 Dead 2
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5
Ninja Blade
Resident Evil 5
Rock Revolution
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Shadow Complex
Street Fighter IV
Tomb Raider: Underworld

From what I played, GOTY would have to be Modern Warfare 2. An obvious choice, i know, but the campaign is a great experience and the multiplayer is endlessly enjoyable, despite cheap tactics and exploits. An honorable mention goes out to Beatles Rock Band, a game clearly made with passion, and it shows.

Gaming Year 2008

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
No More Heroes
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Rock Band
Persona 3
Soulcalibur IV
Super Mario Galaxy
Too Human

As you can see, there's a lot mediocre games on there, and I haven't had time to play a lot of the big titles that've come out in the last few months. Picking a game of the year from what I've played isn't that difficult, hands down it has to be Persona 3. Even though I think it came out in 07 in the US both P3 and FES came out in 08 in Europe. Persona 3 is one of the most impressive, memorable and moving RPGs I've ever played, and really deserves all the praise it's got. It has a slow start but once you get into it it is amazingly absorbing, the social aspect is so well written that after a while it was going through the dungeons that seemed like a distraction.

Here's to staying unemployed this year too , so I can continue to play games far too much!

MS console repair *applause*

Jolly good show!

360 dies, woe, despair, these emotions, they become me. Off it goes by UPS, a brave soldier going home for burial. Roughly a week later, he returns, miraculously, risen from the dead, with new motherboard and DVD drive, and much merriment was had by all.

Alack, it was but an illusion, as two days later the unit soiled itself and died again. Oh my brittle heart, how much more can you take. The lord giveth, and also he taketh away, and then he giveth back, but only for two days before it breaks again.

Top work guys, I'm glad you repaired my console so very well.

4 years

Today is my four year anniversary at Gamespot, and at internet forums in general. You'd think that I might have grown up a bit in all that time. But I haven't. Perfection is consistent.
