@PcGamer4Ever1 @ClayMeow I mentioned "bring us nice features Sony is unwilling to give", which implies he's referring to the backwards compatibility this article is talking about. Yes, the PS4 will be hacked, but good luck getting PS3 emulation working when people have been trying for years.
@queuing_for_PS4 Nobody said they won't, but they're not at the point in time where they're going to confirm anything. They need to make sure each game is fully playable before allowing it to be streamed.
@XspidervenomX No they will not. The rumored PlayStation World service will still allow online play for free. The paid version will simply add in additional features, which include PS+, Gaikai, etc.
@surferosh Exactly. People are blowing this way out of proportion. Apparently they don't understand how programming works and think going from Cell to x86 is no big deal.
@Valdomer0 Good luck with that. There is only one PS3 emulator on the PC that I know of, and it doesn't actually play any games at any playable rate. It's not as easy as you think.
Going from Cell to x86, it was obvious that there wouldn't be native backwards compatibility, but that's what Gaikai will be for. Sony will be able to have the PS3 games processed on their own servers, removing the need to emulate them on the PS4. As long as they allow people to access the games they already own on their PSN accounts for free, I don't see the problem with that.
