Will composite cables work in a component input? Like the composite video output into one of the video inputs in component and the audio some other way? Or do you need just component?

If so, is there anything to convert composite to component so I can plug say, a gamecube without the digital a/v output into the vd-z3 to plug into a monitor?

I found this while using StumbleUpon... maybe others have seen it. I haven't seen it on here, so tell me what you guys think:

(Sorry! I don't know how to link... I probably should, but yeah... maybe someone can linkify it for me?)

I am about to go off to college, and since I'll be in a dorm, I need to save as much space as possible. I was wondering how effective a TV Tuner card with composite or component input or whatever would do. Here is the specific product I'm looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815100020

Can someone linkify that for me?

In any case, I don't know what all the numbers and stuff for these things mean, so if somebody out there could enlighten me, if I were to play say... Halo or Metroid Prime or any game on my monitor through this card... would it be the same in terms of quality and response as if I were playing on a TV?

I doubt you'd be able to find a reasonably priced laptop that can play Crysis well...

I would recommend trying to find a laptop with a decent video card in it. If you do, I'm sure the processor and other stuff will also be good because video cards are generally in the higher end models anyway. If you dont' know where to start looking, the only place I can think of is Alienware, but I hear they're over-priced. Look around places like Newegg, too... you just may find a really good deal.

However, playing Crysis on high settings on a laptop? That's... pretty unrealistic, at least right at the moment. I think, anyway. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

A) I don't think it's freeware anymore.

B) Yes!! Tons and tons of people still play it! It's worth getting, if you are a fan of FPS gaming... Coutner-Strike (the original and Source) is one of my favorite FPS games of all time! (Not to mention just one of my all time favorite games)

Well, I'd say something... but I already said it. Go read my blog about The Graphics Debate to see what I think. I'd paste it here... but it's a lot.

Edit: To summarize, yes they matter... but they aren't the only things that matter. All parts of a game need to work together as a team.

Hm... $5... that isn't much.

Any ideas how I could get at least say... 15 bucks from them? At least 10, anyway.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place... if it is in the wrong place, tell me and I'll move it.

However, I've looked through my game collection, and found some games that I'd rather not see again... like, ever. Now, these are pretty old games, so I don't expect much when I trade them in, but I'd like to know about how much I can expect from'em, if any of you out there have any experience with this. Here are the games:

Azurick: Rise of Perathia (Xbox)
Outlaw Golf / Darkened Skye Combo (GC)
NCAA 2k3 (GC)
NFL 2K3 (GC)

Like I said, I don't expect much, but I'd at least like to know what to expect. Thanks for your help.

You say that like it's a bad thing. I think it's good for PC gaming, honestly. Sure there'll be more "casual" games, but the "hardcore" niche will grow too. It's better for everybody.

Plus PC has the advantage of truly timeless games, IMO. (Examples: Diablo II, CounterStrike, Starcraft, etc)

In my opinion, Halo series is nothing new to PC gamers gameplay wise. Maybe the story is something you'd like, or something, but PC has the Halo series beat with the number of great FPS games it has.

Where Halo shines is on consoles, where FPS games traditionally have not been... as excellent, with a few exceptions. That's how I see it anyway. I mean, without Halo (and games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark), the console FPS market wouldn't exist, pretty much.

Edit: I think I just repeated what you said... so well then, you're right. It's all just a matter of preference, really. I love the Halo series... It's fun for me. On PC and otherwise (I've played the first Halo on the computer... although I had it on Xbox first.)

oh, and it might also be that you're playing it so late in the game, after like, the initial rush, you know? Because the PC ports come out years later.
