[QUOTE="famicommander"]1. SEGA didn't have consumer trust because of failures like SEGA CD, Game Gear, SEGA 32X, Saturn, Nomad, etc 2. SEGA couldn't secure major third party support, especially from companies like EA and Square 3. SEGA didn't have enough money to turn the tide when things started going south, couldn't compete with Sony's hype for PS2 4. Dreamcast used GD-ROM, a variant of CD-ROM, instead of DVD. This had three major negative effects: no movie playback like PS2 and Xbox had, much smaller storage capacity, and extremely easy piracy. 5. The Dreamcast was the least powerful system of the generation and it launched at a time when N64 and PS1 were at their heights (1998-1999), leading to a lot of confusion about who the system was competing with. 6. Lack of a second analog stick and lower system power made it impractical to stay alive by getting downscaled PS2 portsaccesdenied

this was really nicely put, good job. I just want to add the abysmal controller and lackluster idea of the pocket thing they had I forgot the actual name sorry.

You mean the VMU memory card? Also, Sega at least could have attempted CD movies. Would have cost them practically nothing. Doing it withUMDs was partly successful with the PS3 later on when they did their own movie discs

[QUOTE="Dudersaper"]I have the first two. Double Dragon II was dope. Wasn't a fan of the first. Never played the others. I don't consider myself a fan of the series, but yeah, I like DDII.

Where's that avatar from? Edit: Think I responded to too many threads in the front page there.

[QUOTE="Spinnerweb"]Bah. In my opinion the SNES hasn't aged well at all; the Genesis has. The SNES was overloaded with platformers and side-scrollers, not much else. Guess I'm just a Sega fanboy :Paccesdenied

well at least you acknowledge it. I think the genesis was a horrible system worse graphics they didnt even compar to the snes. I still play super mario. i never did like sonic.

What genesis games did you play? Ristar by itself ****s on a crap ton of the SNES library in terms of graphics.

Hear me out, I think Beat Em ups evolved with things like Altred Beats, Golden Axe, River City, Streets of Rage, and a few games before it. With the first game, I think people really got into it being one of the first NES games (But not games in general) to well, have 2-player co-op. but unlike others, I believe it was badly designed, really badly desgined for single player. lack of ways of attacking or avoiding attacks, and on both sides hits don't always kinect. Not to mention it was terribly slow. But when the second game came out, that the series just went straight off a cliff down instead of down a hill. The combat and button reactions were terrible, enemies faster than you had a major advantage. In fact, for 2 and 3, SP was the worst option. Also, with the 2nd, nothing improved really from the first. Maybe small ones but that's pushing it. The third games had terrible balance issues and had the worst enemy placement. most attacks barely did anything no matter what you used, and it just fell flat. Bland story didn't help. 4th game balance became worse, stages became longer but oddly designed, the music god worse, and lak of anything to seperate it from games like SOR or FF or anything else hurt it when it came out, and hurt it now. Double Dragon V was one of the worst fighting games I have played with too many issues to mention and just. No. The only real good Double Dragon games was not any ofr the first 4 beat em ups, or the V fighting game but the Neo-Geo fighting game, and even that wasn't exactly good. I believe Double Dragon was never a good franchise in the first place and you should stick to Golden Axe, SOR, FF, etc instead. Feel free to comment.

[QUOTE="NewJakandsig"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"][QUOTE="NewJakandsig"] If mine are troll threads than the SNES has more staying power thread is a troll thread to. I am also not claiming anything is wrong or flawed. I said you guys were talking about the same games on a lot of lists. If you got wrong or flawed form that you shouldn't have dropped out of school and found out what the meaning of those words mean. Also my threads are not opinion but then you say they are troll threads "FOR THE MOST PART" meaning you pretty much admitted they aren't troll threads and you make crap. up. Maybe be a bit more reasonable and honest then come back to me kind sir.

seriously kid, stop trolling , its almost sad. so Im waiting for you to provide everyone with a different list of games, can you?. yes for the most part, they are troll threads simply meant to annoy people. so yeah , stop trolling , and telling me about honesty is funny given the fact toy did in fact use multiple accounts (heck , your account now is different from what it was months ago ), also your past trolling doesn't help you get any respect.

What past trolling? Oh yeah, made that up. Those are not troll thread, half the thread on the front and 2nd page are the same ting in concept as mine. I'm waiting for you to admit you have no idea what wrong and flawed are. Because the whole point of meh lolling was that I have yet to see someone name more than 13 games on the system that were not on a bunch of lists using brain cells, this means most likely I believe that's all it has, which means I would make the SAME LIST, but you're not very good at figuring things out are you? Stop with the lying to, what multiple accounts? What trolling, What lack of knowing what words mean? It's obvious you're trolling but go ahead. When you leanr how to behave proper let me know.

So all i have to do is name 20 games and show how thy did better than soe of the games mentioned in this thread sales wise?

I have to ask why people think the SNES OR the Genesis have aged poorly?

They were great systems for 2D games. Yeah, the 3D games like Star Fox, Virtua Racing, and Wolfenstein 3-D have aged poorly, but they're few and far in-between. The 2D games are fan-freaking-tastic. I mean come on, you have gems like the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Zelda: Link to the Past, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage series, Mega Man X, and so on and so on. If you want poorly aged 2D games, you have to go further back like the NES (yet I still love it) and the Atari 2600.

Emerald_Warrior
I think this is more of nostalgia speaking. The PC, CD (but not by much), 32X, PC, and Neogeo, games that gen all kick the SNES and GENS ass in the aging process. I agree not as bad as what some people are implying, however. Also, i don't think 2600 games actually age, or at least the simpler designed ones. But what I can say is that I think it's both. I mean Altered eat and Chakan look freking terrible, but Sonic in some cases and Super Metroid seem to steal have it good.

[QUOTE="NiKva"]The discs are CD-R with no security. You can download an ISO and burn it onto a disc without playing (which is illegal). Piracy killed the Dreamcast.Emerald_Warrior

It's not quite that easy, but pretty close. You do have to have a boot disc.

Actually, I am sad to sey you didn't need a boot disc for a lot of games. It was that easy. At least the piracy wasn't too bad, it may have been worse if the console was more well known. So I am split with the system failing. Off topic has Sammy did anything this gen at all?

[QUOTE="Darkman2007"][QUOTE="Containmomentum"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"] no the Xbox has the cable come out of the top like most other controllers. although I would say the worst thing about the DC controller is actually the lack of buttons, 6 buttons and a start button was not enough for some games, and bulky size of the controller was not great either.

I feel lack of buttons and big huges spaces between them was the main issue. They should have either shrunk it, or filled it up I believe.

the odd thing is , the DC controller is just a newer version of the Saturn 3D controller, its just that the Saturn one isn't quite as bulky , and actually has enough buttons (though the analog pad isn't quite as good) the only reason they changed it was due to the VMU , which I felt was a dumb idea, or at least a wasteful one.

I think i described this in an above posts, but I think the vMU, which was never used to its full potential and I think Sega knew this before hand, just wasted more money in the long run. another thing is because they made it all fancy it limited the amount of memory. That, and the fact the 2 slots on the back were used for pretty much nothing else except the vibrator.

It is, but that's what the cord holder built into the top-back of the controller is for.

Darkman2007
Doesn't the Xbox original do the same thing? Sorry, i haven't used it in awhile. I should at some point, i hear that regular controllers have problems after not using for a certain length.

[QUOTE="Containmomentum"][QUOTE="Emerald_Warrior"]

There are exceptions like Samurai Shodown and the first Mortal Kombat. But for the most part, SNES, BY FAR, had the better multiplatform games. Cleaner, brighter graphics, and better sound the majority of the time.

Emerald_Warrior

Yes, but then when you play the SNES multiplats, they run slow and have frame skips with the majority of them. But they did have better sound and brghter colors.

I'm sure there's some out there, but for the most part no. SNES was the system to have that generation if you wanted the best multiplatform games. It's pretty obvious on games like Mortal Kombat II & 3, Maximum Carnage, and Cool Spot.

Which were all better but games like MK2 and 3 were slower and were not as fast moving, especially with button presses. but But I agree, other than possibly, all Neo-Geo ports, the SNES had the majority of the best multiplats. Just not by too much. However, I would rather have 6 button controller than having 4 buttons and 2 shoulders for my multiplats. (SNES shoulders have a few issues t0 me.)
