It's not a port. It's a great game and infact it was my first nintendo DS game. Good graphics, good gameplay.

SagaRain

Not a port? Well, I'll let IGN do the arguing for me:

"For the launch of the Nintendo DS platformer, Ubisoft is, once again, ready with a Rayman title, this time a conversion of its immensely successful Rayman 2 console design"

And what the heck; we're on GameSpot, so let's hear what they have to say about it, huh?

"Rayman DS is a port of the N64 version of Rayman 2, which was a great game. Unfortunately, the DS game is full of frustrating graphical and camera problems."

On one hand I've got two *reasonably* respected game mags calling the game a "port," but on the other hand you're really smart and you say that it's not...

I'm so confused! :(

I've heard that Rayman DS is a pretty terrible port of Rayman 2. I've considered getting it myself, but I think it's a better idea to skip it entirely.

Other than that, it's pretty slim pickings for 3D platformers on the DS. The only games I have in my collection that are remotely comparable are Phantom Hourglass and Ninja Gaiden. :P

I think there's a Tomb Raider game or two, though. I seem to recall that it/they didn't turn out too badly . . .

Either Flaahgra, Thardus, or Meta Ridley from Metroid Prime.

Oh, and I'll blindly choose one of the colossi from Shadow of the Colossus.

They're not harder on games, you just don't agree with the scores they give. Everyone has a different opinion is all.

Raikoh_

No, they're harder on games in general. They hand out far fewerscores above 8 than, say, IGN.com.

For me it would be Lock's Quest. The game sounded interesting, but I did not like how it played at all.

Wiz007

Same here. I can see that the game is pretty well-made and is deserving of some of the praise heaped upon it, but IMHO it's boring and repetitive as hell

Rocket! Robot on Wheels is better than every other game that's already been mentioned. :D

Have you ever bought a game that turned out to be crap? Despite the fact that I follow game reviews religiously, my extensive research occasionally has led me astray.

Games like Legendary Starfy.

Or Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble

Or Touch the Dead. (Okay, I bought this one before I read any reviews. It was the last time I ever made that mistake.)

What POS games have lamentably made it into your collection? Only mention the games that you actually selected, whether you asked for them or bought them yourself. Blind gifts from Grandma don't count.

Not to rain on your parade aden49 but nobody on these forums knows.SiK99

Thank you. I think about this every time somebody creates a thread asking some silly question like "Will they make Smash Bros DS?" or "Will there be a Mario Kart DS 2?"

How exactly are we supposed to know?????

I acknowledge that many people consider Link's Awakening to be one of the greatest Zelda titles of al time, but I thought it was only okay.

Super Mario Land was cool, but it never really felt like a "real" Mario game.

Metroid II was probably the coolest game I owned for the Gameboy, so that's what I went with. I think if more people had actually played Metroid II, it would be scoring a little higher in the polls.
