We still can decide for ourselves. We can choose not to abide by fascist government changes or outright bans & simply order from overseas for much cheaper than we could ever buy here in Australia for anyway. The best way to spit at the government (other than spitting at the government) is to just bypass their fascist rules altogether.
The ratings board have to apply the law, not their own opinions or discretion. Unlike many other countries here in Australia the government (very wrongly) enforces censorship as opposed to industry bodies elsewhere in the world that do the same job voluntarily. Those who work for the classification board don't have any choice as law guides their decisions. It's fucking disgraceful & I detest being told that I as a 38 year old man am incapable of judging for myself & need the government to hold my hand for me but it's the way things are.
It's all relative. Shows like Bones can show dismembered & decapitated bodies on network TV in the US but god forbid anyone tries to show someone's arse. I watched a show once about disastrous accidents that showed a helicopter crashing seconds after taking off & whilst trying to rescue the pilot one of the rescuers showed an inch or 2 of arse crack that was blurred out but no such censorship was shown for the pilot whose arm was nearly severed by the broken rotor & was barely hanging on by a shred of bicep with blood fountaining all over the place. Plenty of countries have their own ridiculous hangups, the US being chief amongst all of them.
They lost me the day they destroyed the traditional talent tree system. If I want to play a game made for the average halfwit I'll play plants vs zombies, I don't expect my MMO that I spent money for the original game + 3 expansions & years in subscription fees to noobify the game just to try & appeal to the lowest common denominator in gamers. If they're losing subscribers it's because they fucking well deserve to lose all of their subscribers. Thank whatever god there might be for Guild Wars 2.
