Of course a "service"like this is going to reach any "milestone" when people are FORCED to sign-up and use it to access game info or to play.
It's like claiming you have real "success" with the ladies, but it's because you're a sexual predator. Forcing people into things is not a sign of success, unless your goal is oppression and submission.
@Saketume DI can be fun, but don't pay any full price for it (like 20$ at most alone, or maybe slightly more for some package deal). It's all fetch quests, no matter how the word it or the cutscenes they use. Fetch quests and chain fetch quests( tons of back and forth ), nothing else, plus sectional world, so you can back-travel, but the load times kill the flow. And weapon crafting can be fun at first, but they break so quickly at times that it's more fun just to use the basics and be able to through them when they are about to break without the worry of losing all the crafting effort, and that comical flying kick. The flying kick does always entertain.
But I say all this because I did enjoy the game, wanted to more, and hope for another more exspansive addition.
This game was fun'ish the first play through. But once you started over it became painfully obvious that it was just doin' it all again. However the sectional world set-up was dissappointing, to many load times. And not nearly enough time in the city section. It was so much fun to roam around that little place with others and battle, and get the great views out over hordes in the street. But not so much fun in the jungle... kind of lost it's appeal. I do hope they make a better sequel though, it felt the first one was a "get it out or it's done-for" release. Kind of "get the franchise foot in the door".
This a good example that not all "pirating/hacking/modding" is bad. Sometimes it makes a bigger statement than just not buying it. But I always do feel a bit bad for the orginal designers, programmers, etc. and those that have little to do with the final "marketing/business plan".
Johnny: Your closing statement is absolutely right. And it is unfortunate when companies choose a business practice that is more aimed at forcing social features on players instead of focusing on the varity of player types and playing styles. For me, I fear the PS4 may be heading down the same line with the "share" button right on the controller. Not that you must share, simply that these "social" features are being more and more forced into gaming itself. Multiplayer online is seperate from "socializing" online. Being able to be social with your frequent gaming buddies can be beneficial to the multiplayer/online experience. However forcing or shoe-horning in "social" features just feels invasive, espcially when placed as a main feature and not an "opt-in" feature. (The case usually being often that one must "opt-out" of tracking and "social" features, generally not presented in a obvious way.)
It would just be nice to be offered these types of features, not forced to partake in them.
