Player Tag: Opt_0 (Opt_Zero) PS3

Pawn: Kye

lvl: 75

Generaly she is a Strider (currently training as a socceror, two ranks to go)

Traits: Scather

2ndary: Nexus/Aquisitor (on occasion Utilitarian) I will use Aquisitor for my own enjoyment, I'm a loot-hound.

While playing in her primary role of Strider she is very active, often climbing large foes, aggresive attacks, and durable to damage.

Currently working on her socceror skills, trying to reduce casting time and increase variation and variaty in spells cast.

Gear and equipment is almost always maxed in upgrades, espically in Archery roles.

When she is in archery roles I try not to employ to many charged attacks so she can increase her firing rate in general and stay as mobile as possible.

Also:

Try playing with the tv off, or facing away from it.

Only play by yelling commands at your friend in a different room who is actually playing for you.

Put in a different game and try to play DD.

Place your console underwater.

Form and entirely nude party other than rusty weapons.

Play the game very poorly.

Put cardboard over your tv and cut out small holes over spots you think may be helpful, but only when you level up.

Call my mom and ask about the weather.

Set your house on fire.

Hire pawns far far too below to be any help, forcing you to do nothing but spend your time babysitting and reviving.

Play loud music while playing until your nieghbors call the police, then when they show up threaten to kill yourself and inform them you are a terrorist.

Try hugging a very angry horse while you play.

Try hugging two angry horses while you play.

Try hugging two horse while they play.

But, call my mom... she misses you.

I've been told it takes about a week (ingame) for important NCP's to respawn. Although I gvuess some can die for good, but the inn keeprs and stuff will come back. Just takes a while.

what do they consist of? What's the pay-off? Any gear? Is it worth it at all? Or just a bunch of fetch quests?

Those bandits destroyed me when I started playing. I tried to take a short cut but Saurions where close too. I slipped by without aggroing them and later found a Quimera. It was a struggle but once I lvld enough, it was very enjoyable and challenging. Pity they don't lvl up past a certain point, I'm now a lvl 70 and they basically die if I touch them.

Yeah, I have to admit, I kill big creatures in less then a few minutes.Feels powerful, but sometimes they die to fast now. It does allow you the chance to play with different weapon and armor without having to worry to much about giving up a few points of defense or something. Plus, after a while hiring higher level pawns once you reach a high level gets really spendy. So I've been trying to recruit closer level pawns more often.

It's a very interesting, ever evolving online dragon that apparently is fought by player all over the world at them same time until it dies, which takes a very long time from what I understand. Still leraning about it myself. Yet the payoffs can be great if you get the killing shot, or atleast participate until it's destroyed.

@GunEye Well I'm about level 70 now, so it might cost you way to much, but actually I'll probablly tote your pawn around a bit. Kind of hanging back from finishing up my first playthrough (going to attempt to get involved with the Ur_Dragon this weekend) so I'll try to take your pawn around the map and against some bigger foes, see if I can't help it evolve. I like helping more than anything in games for some reason. If this game were a MMO i'd be Crowd Control and Support. But instead my pawn is.

I'm sure daggers are effected by your strength level. But what daggers offer more of is mobility. Generally light and very fast attacks, plus they allow for aggresive attacks while climbing large foes; once you've unlocked "Hundred Kisses" it's amazing how much damage you can do one a weakpoint.

Of course depending on your gear you may have to change up a bit, but the mobility and agility is very nice. Plus the double jump core-skill you get from any of the Archer classes is very nice, although appears to only function with daggers (as far as I've seen.)

Plus, a good magic bow can be VERY powerful, however despite it's "auto-lock" targeting style you actually give up a lot of control on your selected target accuracey. With a regular bow, or Longbow specifcally, you can take great targeted shots at specfic weak points to provide wonderful damage. Where as a magic bow has a tendacy to select the easiest point to hit, or the most obvious within the aiming reticle. So it makes you have to figit a little if you are trying to, let's say, take out a knee to drop a Cyclopsts to the ground. But this is balacned out by the incredible power of a good upgraded magic bow. Especially if you use the mutli-target lock skill on large creatures.

I am not sure however if you can use a magic staff and daggers together, or a magic bow and staff together. I think there are some gear combinations limits with this class like in the Assassin class (no sword+shield AND a bow.)

But once you've got the Magic bow down, you can just use daggers for any direct climbing attacks, or when needed now and then.

If you are looking for a "Magic" class that's not all casting, the Magic archer is nice. (And I think some of the Augments from the magic classes are unlockable in the others, and some are only unlockable in a specific class.) from what I've seen you don't NEED to do all the different classes to help you with one in particular, but of course they can help in the long run.

And you can only apply 6 augments total, so if you are going to use them a lot, don't worry about trying to unlock them all early on. Find the class and play style you like, go from there. Besides you can use your pawn through the other classes to allow them to open up the options of what available before you put yourself through it. Kind of a nice way to see how the class plays before you switch all your gear and play style.

Yeah, it's been my understanding that the "returns from other arisen" with only a small gift and no other info is purely automated. Although it does help ensure you are getting a smallbut steady rate of RC$, it is dissappointing when you realize your pawn isn't being hired as much as you'ld like.

When you get the full details, even when they don't rate, is when it has returned from a real Arisen.

Also, does anyone know how armor/gear comes across when it's sent back with thier pawn? I often will give a piece of armor if nothing more than for cash when I send back a good pawn. But it must be placed on the pawn's body and cannot be selected as an actual gift when releasing them. So I'm just wondering what it's like when you recieve actaul gear, does it notify in the gifts recieved box? Or is it just some over looked item left in your inventory like all the auto gifts?

And remember: RATE YOUR PAWNS.

Thanks.

Also to help upgrading:

DUMP EVERYTHING IN YOUR STORAGE.

It will help, by the time you start upgrading your better gear you'll need a lot of the little "useless" things you've collected. Plus when you need to clean out storage you can sell out of it directly at the merchants. It makes it way easier then selling a few things each time you come back. So later when you have 200 copper ore you can sell off a ton really quick. Trust me this works really well. Much better then getting something and heading out to find the items needed to upgrade it.
