I don't think I've played Red Faction. Is it still good? Or is it Half Life good? By that I mean, cool 7 years ago, but not really something worth my time today. Does it have a story worth mentioning?

Screenshots are interesting.

I only played the original, not nearly Half-Life, but a fun little shooter. The Geo-modding was kind of fun if you turn on the unlimited rocket launcher cheat, but really cut and dry otherwise.

Bioshock - Added so much to the atmosphere when you came across a record player still spinning in some deserted room.

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade - Best music ever in an MMO, still listen to the soundtrack occasionally.

Beyond Good And Evil - Very fun soundtrack with lots of epic pieces in the appropriate places.

World In Conflict - Great score that matched the gameplay very well.

Mass Effect - Kind of corny in places, but really matches the sci-fi theme.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Subtle where it needed to be, but really ramped up for the fighting, used for great effect.

Pirates of the Burning Sea - Very fun swashbuckling music, although it could have used more.

Homeworld - Probably my favorite, tribal themes in a space epic was absolutely genious and worked perfectly.

There are probably a ton that I'm missing, but that about sums it up for now.

From what I've played of my 360, and correct me if I'm wrong, it's nowhere near the same experience as my PC. And from what I've played of my PS3, again if I'm wrong, it's not much different than my 360. From what I've played of the Wii (don't own one but have borrowed a friends to play SM:G and Z:TP) it's totally different than anthing else.

If I look at specs, the PS3 more closely matches a PC since the extra processors in the cell more closely resemble add-on cards than anything else, coupled with the fact that it's dependent on having a hard disk to function and a web browser and support for keyboard/mouse, I'd say that it was just a spruced-up, underpowered PC (think Apple). So far, of the PS3 and 360, I've done nothing but play games on my 360, but have used my PS3 to stream media, surf the web from my couch and play games, lots of neat tricks, but doesn't exactly scream "gaming only". If I had to say that one was really stepping in on the PC, the PS3 is definetly the one I'm looking at.

[QUOTE="JakeTD21"]Hmm.. never played Tribes, what did it do new?cobrax75

I only played it briefly, but I think it might have been the first one to introduce support classes.

Would say that it introduced classes to online gaming, although all the setups were based wholely on preference. Asside from that, it didn't do a whole lot other than jet packs and gravity, but it was the first online shooter that I really got sucked into and didn't quit playing until BF1942.

Stalker did not use auto-regeneration, and Far Cry was one of the first games to adopt the 2 weapon system so it was no big suprise that Crysis continued with it, and given how big a pain-in-the-ass Far Cry could be between health packs, it was kind of a no-brainer to add auto-regeneration to Crysis (less tactical and less frustrating = rose with it's thorns). It just depends on the developer I think, a game like Resistance kind of finds a sweet spot in the health that only regenerates 25% at a time so you have to watch what you do, but you're not ever stuck at 1% health with 5 enemies between you and the next health pickup.

As for the original subject, multi-platform games are designed 90% of the time with consoles in mind first and foremost and PCs are an after-thought for some reason. Some franchises that went down the console path really forsook where they came from in the first place, Deus Ex: Invisible War is the most glaring example I can think of, so in my eyes it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been, although it was still a good game. And there there are the console game and the nowhere-near-the-same PC game, Ghost Recon comes to mind, so awesome on my 360, so annoying on my PC.

I think it really comes down to what is expected of the platform, when I play my consoles, I generally expect a watered-down, albeit fun, gaming experience. Whenever I play a PC game, I'm expecting the level of depth that I can't find on a console. Take Warhawk, some of the most fun I've ever had with a multiplayer game, but it doesn't come near the depth and complexity of Battlefield 2, but I never expected it to, if I got a game tomorrow named Battlefield 3 for my PC and it played like Warhawk, I'd be disappointed. If I got a game called Battlefield 3 for my PS3 or 360 and it played like Warhawk, I'd probably have a blast with it.

And this is in no way saying that games can't coexist on both platforms since they definetly can, just that if the game just dresses up like it's a PC game and plays and looks like a console game and is giving me button layouts for a controller that is not even close to being standard for a PC, I'm going to be instantly turned-off to it. Just my 2 cents.

Very nice, have liked both games that QuanticDream has released. If you liked Indigo Prophecy, you should give Omikron a run as well if you can find it, a little too ambitious, but probably one of the more ground-breaking games for when it was released. Probably wouldn't have the same effect on me now as when it was first released, but it did an excellent job of creating a futuristic city and it had a pretty unique plotline.

That being said, I can't wait for this game to release, it's part of the reason I purchased a PS3. Hope QuanticDream will take their time and release another classic, they're 2 for 2 in my eyes.

The real reason is because creating a female model would have taken GSC another 5 years to make.Qixote

Too true...

Can't comment on the PC version of AC, but from the 360 version I'd say you're better off going with The Witcher if you like RPGs. AC is really fun at first, and the "platforming" is really fun at the start, but once you hit the midway point, you'll probably start to get really bored with it. The Witcher is long and has a lot to do, but you may get bored with the combat if you're not playing on the hardest setting.

Hard to really compare them, but The Witcher was a suprise hit for me last year and AC was one of my biggest disappointments, so I may be a little biased. Even without the content patch The Witcher was a better game that AC in my opinion, but I'd say you should at least download the demo for The Witcher, supposedly contains the prologue and the first chapter, so it should give you a really good feel of the game.

Hehe, did the same once and thought, "Oh god, the self-loader mechanism has already died." then I saw the little blue light...

Shouldn't hurt anything unless you really go nuts and force one disk on top of another which would more-than-likely jam it to a point where you wouldn't be able to eject the disks and possibly break the loader altogether.
