we need new consoles ffs, games arent getting any better from a visual standpoint, a gameplay standpoint or a scale standpoint on the current consoles, the tech is too limited and the reason us pc gamers come on here and complain about it is because developers build games to conform to these limited consoles and we just get a better looking version of the pos game, name one game that has more gameplay features and world size of saysan andreas? give me an rpg this gen that had the scope and epicness of kotor?

the only thing the 360 and ps3 tried to do this gen was to create a proper online system and to have great looking games (which they did the first 2-3 years of this cycle but unfortunately technology moves at such a rate that they are now obsolete)

I think Zelda OOT deserves a 6/10 at best.

i dont know what you mean cause EVERYTHING can be replicated on a PC. sounds more like fanboy talk than an argument. there is NOTHING that consoles can do and computers cant and there are about milion things that computers can and consoles cant and NEVER will be able.

of course you knew that you can play WII games on the PC on your big TV with original WII controls?as a good example. you wouldn know the diffrence. oh wait. WII games on PC have 1080p with maxed AA/AF so you would.

i guess the biggest problem with the console masses is being blinded by cheap fanboysim and that they are uneducated in gaming and tech stuff.

but i am a fan of the WIUU!i mean the conttroller. it could allow that games specially my beloved rpgs to be NOT dumbed down for bad pad controls like dragon age 2, dungeon siege 3 etc.

will maybe buy one! and i guess about 2-3 month after its released i can happily use the wiiu controller on my PC and there will be probably a dozen of clones that do precisely the same and better

First of, I'm not saying gaming on the 360/PS3 is bad, but you have to admit that compared to a PC, the're not great. Any Hardcore gamer could tell you that Gaming on a PC nowadays would absoloutley trump the 360 or PS3 (Btw, i've never heard of a PC gamer comparing there experience to the Wii). That's the truth. The fact that the matter is, if a console tries to compete with a PC, such is doomed to failure. That's why the next gen of consoles has to be released ASAP along with a gimmick to not compete with PCs, and to set the gaming standard with something new.

But PC has not got a single game i want that i cant play on my xbox 360

With consoles i get to play 3-4x the games and all their exlusives and all PC games i wanted on my 360, all for less than a PC cost

Dark SOuls for example is one of my best games this gen, actually the very best and is not on PC, same for Halo, Gears in shooters

But Witcher 2, Crysis 1-2 are on my 360

I dont see what PC could offer me, only far less games to play

Make that infinite less games to play actually, no Zelda, Gears, Fable, Souls series, Alan Wake, JRPGs, Forza, Halo, Final Fantasy etc etc etc

What I need in a console is something that every other generation had. Something that sets it apart from other generations, and not aiming for being the most powerful. That's why this generation is the worst so far, it hasn't brought anything new to the table.

Fourth generation: Made Shoulder buttons and 4 button face standard
Fifth Generation: Made analog / Dual anolag / Rumblethe standard
Sixth Generation: Made basic online the standard.

These are all gimmicks which attempted to break away from the norm. Apart from Online, these were not seen on consoles/PCs before.
But this Gen, all we saw was a beefed up last gen. All which could be replicated on a PC, ultimatley rendering them useless

The objective of consoles has somewhat shifted, and become more foccused on the graphics and power department, instead of the innovation and gimmicks department. It's good to have power in a console, that's why the PS3 was my favourite console this gen, but aiming for a 7-8 yaer lifecycle is unnaceptable, and the PS4 and Xbox720 need to be announced ASAP, and with a gimmick to become standard, in order for consoles to stay relevant in the gaming industry. If they don't have a Gimmick, i'll stick with my PC, since it will trump anything from consoles.

This is going to get ugly.

Now lets be serious here, developers are already having to compromise way to much to bring games to consoles nowadays. They can barely hit 30fps, they're not even hitting 30fps. They're barely reaching 720p. 60fps at 1080p, is pretty much a pipe dream. 60fps at 720p - is a pipe dream. Were struggling to get 30fps at 720p at lock now. So as the generation goes on longer and longer and longer, what were going to see is More games come down with low resolutions and low frame rate. As the PC keeps advancing, the consoles stay stuck at the same piece of hardware. And now we're seeing Sony say that they're not releasing a new console until PS3 is maxed... Well, if you can't reach 720p at 30fps, then the consoles maxed, it's ridiculous, your seeing frame rates dropping to the teens now.

But on the bright side, some good thing could happen. Maybe consoles can return to being what consoles originally were. Consoles that play console games. Because honestly, the reason this generation of consoles is my least favourite generation of all time, is because consoles aren't simply consoles anymore, they're (apart from Wii) low end, low grade PCs. That's all they are. You get the regular game, but instead of playing it like how you're supposed to play, they're stripping it down, they degrade it visually, they degrade it of it's resolution, they degrade it's frame rate, it's stability, and boom. You have a game. Now do we really want to go through this until 2014? Is this what we want on a console? So maybe, we can go back from consoles trying to be like a PC, we can have two different things like how we used to have. PC games on one side, and console games on the other side.

So what's going to happen, are games going to become less ambitious? Smaller? But the fact is, PC's are moving on, while consles aren't moving. Normally this isn't a problem, since console get replaced every 4-5 years, but that clearly isn't the case right now, were looking at a 7-8 year life cycle? That to me is unacceptable as a gamer.

Now you can ask why the Wii gets a pass. Because the Wii isn't taking what games are already on the PC, 360 and PS3 and downgrading them. It's getting it's own games, they have the most exclusives, which are designed for that console. So i want games to also be specifically made for the PS3 and 360. But in this economy, that isn't going to happen. So what were going to have is games that run on the PC, in DX10 or DX11, 60fps, 1080p, nice and smooth, and on my consoles, I'm going to have the same game, that are struggling to reach 30fps, and barely reach 720p.

So this is why I'm upset, all that consoles are offering me, are downgraded PCs, and minor exclusive here and there.
