@naryanrobinson: "All we have to do is stop fighting."
If only.
But that's not even the main barrier.
Money (profit) is.
Look how fast Covid-19 went from infection to vaccine. It was a worldwide pandemic crippling industries, forcing every company to restructure to try and stay in business.
All the myriad of diseases we're currently suffering, but aren't crippling to industry, almost never get that treatment. The rate of births is far, far greater than the rate of deaths too. Dying from random diseases is just par for the course.
Cancer's been researched for how many decades or even centuries now? How much closer are we to a cure? How successful are treatments? It's one of the biggest profit vectors in modern healthcare.
Until greed stops being the driving factor for humanity, nothing will ever change.
Meanwhile, they were one of the first to significantly raise prices over other board partners, so this is just them returning to the market curve.
As in, nothing of value has been changed to the consumer, especially not when it's stupid to buy a higher end 3000 series card with Lovelace releasing later this year.
My order for a 3080 I placed 8 months ago was recently canceled because they'll never get stock of it again. They still can't fulfill the demand of cards released over a year ago. And they're still releasing EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE cards to capitalize on it instead of being consumer friendly in the slightest.
The publishers forcing their games to release unfinished despite 'crunch', and full of multiple ways to monetize the player, deserve all the hate and vitriol they get.
Huh, can finally play it at decent settings now, hopefully.
If only it didn't take months for some companies to add FSR to games, which a single dev can do in an afternoon. The GPU shortage makes these such highly sought after features because we're all stuck with our aging hardware.
