How I Learned to Stop Complaining and Love the Bomb

Well after my previous blog, I think it is pretty clear that I intended to cease posting blogs any more. But due to a mediocre turn out of comments, I shall not be leaving. Instead, I shall keep making friends until I have a leaving blog with at least 20 comments. Unlucky, you thought you got rid of me.

Well quite a bit has happened in my life, I finally bought a DS :) Along with Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, 42 All-Time Cl@ssics and Sega Superstars Tennis. I have set up the Wi-Fi Connection and will be ready to play (not bad, 3/3 of my consoles are online, compared to my old 0/3, back when I had a PSOne, PS2 and Xbox), as well as posting my FC's for FFCC:RoF and 42ATC I also have FFIII online, but cannot find the code, if anyone knows where to find it (if it exists) please tell me. Well that's it for now. My next blog will be after I finally figure out what the hell I'm doing on FFIII.

Bye for now :)

Well, Five Years. I've Had a Good Run...

Well as you may have noticed my activity has been much less than usual. I am no longer compelled to write blogs for you, my dear friends. And so, I will be leaving GameSpot, but I will still visit to check reviews etc.

So long.

HARDCORE GAMlNG

OK, so this week, I finally learned a lesson. GAMES DO SELL OUT. And because of my ignorance I do not have a copy of GTA IV, yet. In the meantime I decided to busy myself with two new games. The first is Turning Point: Fall of Liberty on 360. The game is very buggy, the graphics are colourless and chunky, the voice acting is dodgy, and the whole things screams Hour of Victory, if it weren't for some little tweaks that make the game soo much better. For one, the premise of a What If? alternate reality is a good idea, the only problem is, large chunks of the game are so generic that you will easily forget that your fighting Nazis in America. Wanderful setpieces like the Empire State Building overturned or the White House decorated with Nazi decor will often remind you. One thing is the idea of new weaponry that would have come to exist if Germany had managed to take the US. But the downside is the campaign is so short and repetitive that when you think about it, the weapons come and go an you hardly notice them, the only weapon that stuck out was the infra-red sniper rife. Aswell as all that, the game can be INSANELY difficult, thanks to slow, wobbly movement and the fact your character is very weak.

The other game is purchased was A-TrainHX. All I can say so far is that the game is VERY hardcore. I was expecting something like SimCity with more emphasis on trains. I was wrong. I'll update later.

Well, hopefully by my next blog I will have GTA IV. :) One can always hope.

GameSpot's Wii Website is a Really Good Idea

If you have a Wii and have used the internet channel to go on GS recently, you will know that the website is entirely different, stylized to match that of the Wii, along with actual motion controls for rating games etc. While the option to switch to the regular site is available, I like to keep it as it is. The only down side is the inability to post in forums etc. but in all honesty, I would prefer to type with a keyboard for such thingsas that, despite the Wii keyboard being surprisingly effective. Also, today I got my new laptop's internet working, so any spelling errors are down to the fact that I haven't grasped the keyboard layout yet. Also, yesterday I downloaded played the Iron Man demo, and, while it was totally contrived, was quite fun. I may buy it if I find the time after GTA IV. Speaking of which, is only three days away.

Wii Are the Champions

This is one of the only blogs I've written so far this year where the title actually makes sense. Well to elaborate on the obviousness of the title, obvious that the Wii is the supreme console, I do agree the 360 is also a magnificent console, I cannot choose between them. But if I had to, I would go for the 360, because of Live and all that. But the Wii is blitzing the competition (especially the PS3) in the sales department. But hey, this isn't a blog to flaunt the Wii's impending victory in the sorry faces of PS3 fanboys, it's to further elaborate on the fantastitude (if thats a word) of the Wii's games, or at least, not the recent wave of shovelware products rushed onto the shelves.

I must apologise for the innacuracies of the boxarts above, some are American boxarts, and thus rated by the ESRB, and as a Brit, I feel it is my duty to ellaborate that Resident Evil is not an 18+, but infact a 15. Our ratings system is difficult to grasp as both the BBFC and PEGI rate our games, BBFC ratings are U, PG, 12, 15 and 18, the same as films and DVD's etc, whereas PEGI ratings are 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ and 18+, but 18+'s are never handed out by the PEGI as all extreme cases are handled by the BBFC, our country's controlling board. Anyway, ratings politics aside (sorry, I love ratings, yes I'm that sad) let's get to the games. The above games are those in my current collection of Wii games, and the following are a few I wish to add:

  • Okami - So sue me (hehe, assonance) if I want this game. I missed out on it the first time, what with only having a PS2 for one year, and I really want this, and the additional Wii features make me thrust continuously in this games direction.
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Call me sad, but I'll get this for 360 and Wii, just because they both focus on different types of gameplay. Plus I want to try out my so far unused Wii lightsaber attachment.
  • Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock - The 360 version is too pricey (by £5) and the achievements make it to hardcore for me, I would prefer a more laid back approach. Enter, the Wii version.
  • Wii Fit - Call me a nancy (and at this rate you'll be calling me lots of things) but I'm worried about my BMI, last time I check (last week) it was 25.5, overweight, but only by 0.5, and I am unhappy. And since I live in a gym free village, all I can do is run in the fields and through up from binge drinking to loose weight. And also, Wii Sports doesn't aid weight loss very much.

What else is to come on the Wii?

Tis correct. I will never buy Brawl, so sue me (again) and this seems like a worthy substitute, but admitedly, I would put the four games above before MK. But considering MK is out now, I might buy it, I might not until later. Only the bonevolant deities know what is certain. But I think I will. But at the moment, I have just £5 on my videogame budget, if my "product" sells (I invested in a hord of documentary DVD's), then I may see a sudden increase of about £500. Here's hoping.

:D

Guiseppe Want Game

Indeed. But this blog is about the games which I think will be awesome, not what Guiseppe thinks. Forget Guiseppe. Well firstly, there is:

  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (360)
  • OMFG this looks like the greatest Star Wars game since Goldeneye, if it were a Star Wars game. Of course I'll opt for the 360 version for graphics, achievements, deeper gameplay etc., though that's not to say the Wii version won't be good. I may even get both, just to compare, but they did say they weren't focusing on graphics on Wii, instead developing a deeper control system.

  • Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe (360)
  • Wow, opinions on this game are splitr right down the middle; the haters and the anticipaters. I am looking forward to this crossover, mostly so I can whale on Batman, since he's not a superhero, just a guy in a rubber suit, which had nipples on one occasion. That, and getting to kick Superman's ass with Reptile. Woo.

  • Call of Duty 5 (360)
  • Coming back to good old WW2 (if they'd hurry up and make it official) it will alternate between the conflict between Britain and the Free French against Nazi Germany, and the US against Japan in the Pacific Theatre. That's enough variety for me to be hyped about a WW2 game. WW2 kicks modern warfare arse. Feel free to disagree, just don't hurt yourself when your typing really fast to flame me. Bring on the past!

  • Sam & Max: Season One (Wii)
  • Well since the PC version has eluded me for so long, I can't wait to get back into Sam & Max, since the first (and only game until Season One) game was Hit the Road, and I got that with Maniac Mansion 2: Day of the Tentacle. I wander how the Wii remote will compliment the gameplay. Only time, or a leak, will tell.

As for closer releases, I have to say I'm most hyped for GTA IV and Okami. Not much else is arrousing my interest at the moment.

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4)Okami

Bye for now

I Found Me an MMO + Competition #3 Answers

Well after sauntering through GameSpot and Google, I found an MMORPG that's free, and will run on my computer! It's called Metin2, some of you may have heard it, it's very similar to Silkroad Online, only it runs smoother and the c/ass level system is much better. The c/ass system works as such, you choose from assassin, warrior, sura and mage, and up until Lv 5, you are just a generic recuit with your chosen c/ass but at Lv 5, you choose your prefered Force in your c/ass there are 2 Forces per c/ass:

  • Assassin - Assassin Force / Archer Force
  • Warrior - Partisan Force / Arahan Force
  • Sura - Mirage Force / Black Magic Force
  • Mage - Lighting Force / Dragon Force

I chose Dragon Force Mage, which is ironic since I can't stand Dragonforce. If you happen to play Metin2 and are in the same server and Empire as me, look me up, I'm Lieuje.

Onto the competition answers, they are:

1959 - Plan 9 From Outer Space
1978 - Saturday Night Fever
1994 - Ed Wood
2007 - Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

No one scored any points, so unfortunately I cannot give out any points. For the next competition can I please have more contributions, and DO NOT answer unless you answer all the questions, your answer will not be counted and can be copied! So do not do it! I'm looking at you NatendoWhiskey64. Only one post for answers.

Competition #2 Answers and Competition #3

Diving straight in, the answers are as follows:

  • 1) c) My name is Max Lilleyman, no one got that right, that makes me feel very let down.
  • 2) b) Ed Wood is my favourite film.
  • 3) b) I despise the Hoosiers.
  • 4) d) The proper name of the country is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so only that answer is correct, yes I'm an arse.
  • 5) a) Super Mario Bros. is my most hated film.
  • 6) c) The Legend of Zelda, I love that sticker.
  • 7) a) The Art of Filmmaking and Writing to Inform, Persuade and Advise is my specialist subject.
  • 8: d) It's just a random name from nowhere, although I did use it on WoW before I did on GS.
  • 9) b) I smoke. Yes I know it's not good, but I do.
  • 10) a) From Russia With Love is my favourite 007 film, followed very closely by The Living Daylights.
  • 11) a) Star Wars: The Clones Wars, for some reason, is my most anticipated film of 2008.
  • 12) b) Alone in the Dark, although 0.5 of a mark is awarded for GTA IV.
  • 13) For 3 marks, you must have an answer like:
      • To become a nature filmmaker, also direct feature and direct-to-DVD films, be nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards, win a Razzie :P, teach English or become a Primary School teacher in later life.

Well the obvious winner is NatendoWhiskey64, as his were the only eligable answers, who scored 3.5/15. COME ON GUYS! I cannot allow people to win with these terrible scores! At least try. But anyway NatendoWhiskey may choose between the two prizes.

Onto Competition #3:

  • What are my favourite films of the following years? (year of release):
  • 1959, 1978, 1994, 2007

It's pretty much a simpler version of the previous competition, only a bit more difficult. Answer format must be:

  • 1959: (film name)
    1978: (film name)
    1994: (film name)
    2007: (film name)

The prize is:

A picture of a very nice pen

Yes the prize is a dud, but I don't want to hand out the same prize every time, so have fun.

Competition #2 + Sam & Max: Season One on Wii

I'll get to the competition secondly. Firstly I wish to announce my hype for the recently announced Wii version of Sam & Max: Season One. I cannot wait, it's been so long since I played Sam & Max. Of course it's not as good as Monkey Island or Grim Fandango, although it is hard to compete against legends. I think I have a good idea how motion controls will be implemented, but I'll wait for an official word.

Onto the competition: The objective of this competition is to answer the most questions about me as possible, and get the most right. So to reiterate, whomever gets the most correct answers wins:

+1 Credibility (or) a Snazzy Custom Pic

Please note that you only get one of the above prizes, choose carefully, although if you have sense, you'll go for the cred, if not, I'm not here to judge, that's the job of the GameSpot community. On with the quiz: (all questions except for the last one are multiple choice)

Bye chuckleheads.
