I’ve been a wimp about playing this series I brought the 1st game because I heard so much good stuff about it.

Wishlist : play what I have ,but I guess complete the trilogy with part Bioshock 2.

The Title was one of the 'Hidden Messages' in After Burner II.

long ago back when I had a Sega Master System

I had After Burner on it, it always seemed weird in that game that you could not control your speed inspite the title of the game.

Later I would eventually get:

After Burner II (Gen) firing your thrusters to escape the onslaught of rockets return for the arcade feel. excellent gameplay.

As part of SEGA AGES (SAT) It is the arcade with the looks to match. the genesis played fined but took a hit in the looks; not so here in SEGA AGES

it's in Shenmue II (XB) I really need to get to playing the series after the 1st game. but its supposed to be in the game.

After Burner Climax (360) Having this come home was a surprise and a shock still a awesome flight; too bad its no longer available for purchase for those who don't own it.

although not part of the series I was hoping F-15 Strike Eagle (arcade) would be part of it.

This video is a bit more in-depth with the versions and differences (and a lot more time to watch (youtube actually put a hour long ad in it on me, Why an ad longer than the video being watched???) but it covered a few missed bases in the first vid. and few other SEGA flying games.

Movies

yeah yeah the F-14 and Top Gun made this two Synonymous back in 1987.

If that's not enough there are other flying movies sure you're no longer in a F-14, but adrenaline junkies may get a few extra kicks from Firefox (which for some reason MACH 3 (arcade) reminded of this film. Stealth as the name implies this is not really about dog fighting but more about a AI controlled stealth fighter thinking for itself and becoming a traitor.

Oh yea although delayed because of Covid -19 and movies theatres being closed Top Gun gets a sequel : Top Gun Maverick currently looking to come out in 2021

Manga / Comics Area 88 (which actually has its own game UN Squadron (SNES)).

This series has a airline pilot trainee training to fly his Girlfriend is the daughter of a Airline President on the night of him and his best friends graduation from flight school he wakes up to a knock on the door and informed that he signed up and joined the Mercenary Air Force of Area 88 where any day any flight could be your last.

A word of warning as good as this series is it was abruptly cut off in the US, and I never got to see if the exceptional pilot Shin paid off his debt to get out of Area 88, or get his 'friend' who had him drunkenly sign his life over to a foreign country.

Trying to find a video that covers all the games was not easy (cause I used 1941 instead of starting with the 1st game 1942) here is mention of the other games in the series for Capcom Generation and that brings me to

Capcom Generation 2 (Sat) which contains

Ghosts & Goblins, Ghouls N’ Ghosts and Super Ghouls N’ Ghosts.

Still not very good here I was trying to be tough about it and tried to beat the games in order and the 1st game I believe I got to the last boss (possibly) and could not beat it.

also the game has some remixed music from each game (not used in game though) that I recommend.

as anyone can tell from my journal count this actually blog 195? on Gamespot as you can tell this I blogged alot more and had friends comments to go along with them.

First of all let me apologize for explaining what i’ll be trying to do here but Battle Arena Toshinden was a game I was not too concerned with butchering with the extra talk I went with it.

Instead of focusing on a whole collection for a console or a particular game i’ll be doing this a little differently i’ll take a series of games I own (no matter which console or format) and try to take similar pics I kind of had this in mind with this blog but now i’ve added a few more things (where applicable). Games is pretty self explanatory its the games that are being talked about.

Now for something different I got the idea for this after seeing VGSsnatcher’s Ghost in the Shell collection blog1 and Blog 2 and Kazekiri’s collection blogs

The Games Battle Arena Toshinden PS1

Coolest fight, my Bro and me were playing with Eiji and Kayin and we were both dodging each other and trying to attack each other I ended up facing out towards the screen and threw a fireball that my brother dodged and it was like the fireball hit us when it came towards the screen.

Battle Arena Tohshinden Remix (Sat) Same game now with in between anime cut-scenes.

Neat or maybe cheesy in the Saturn version’s story mode not only do you get dialog between fights but you get actual talking along with the characters mouths moving.

This is where I take a divergent path instead of just the games i’ll try to show off other items related to the game(s) in question. Manga/comics if there are anything of interest (well my interest anyway) i’ll mention it in this section it may or may not include books still on the fence about mentioning stuff I don’t own but that’ll be a case by case problem. [Edit. The solution is Wishlist]

Manga

a 1 issue preview in the pages of Game On magazine. for the Battle Arena Toshinden Manga.

Anime/ Movies if the item in question has a anime or movie I will list this with the collection. in some cases I might feel motivated to mention with the games movies that might not have anything to do with each other for instance in the above linked Rolling Staaart blog where I was talking about Daytona USA I would probably mention Days of Thunder (although I have to see it myself). I probably won’t be doing reviews for these items just simply letting everyone know about various stuff.

I will probably mention how much the movie sticks to the source material and if it would make sense in the game. if possible i’ll try to throw in a trailer / or intro but ideally I would aim to get a short one.

No not interested in completing the BAT collection on PS1 or SAT and BAT 3 got such bad reviews i’m not even considering it.

In the comments for the original blog Tohshinden 2 URA was pointed out as a better game on the Saturn while still not a I gotta have it, if I come across it cheap then I may consider it.

Edit: in 2020 Battle Arena Toshinden 4 has come out in 2000 ? wait aminute this blog was posted in 2008 oh I see in Japan and the PAL territorities not the US.

Nothing special here just games with more than 1 copy while that has been the case for several and i'm actually have a few that will get there own blogs here are some games that repeat in my collection. and since I probably won't have much to talk about how the duplicate came to be.

Bastion (360) I think I got it on sale, or with games with gold, and with the of the xb1

Bastion (xb1) everyone who purchased the game got the xb1 version for free!

Funny thing I had not really played Bastion as much as I wanted at the time my 360 was in bad condition it would give me about 5 minutes of playtime before shutting down.

Got this to play online and I did as Lordnikon from onlineconsoles mentioned the game was good that the levels could be scaled to how many players were online.

Out of my Saturn guns this is not the bottom of the barrel, but its not in the top either; While the 1st three share the title Maximum Force shares the same kind of gunplay and secrets of the Area -51 (gun game)

but after watching this vid their were a few more games I own that lent themselves to the video so why not go ahead and add those too? well maybe not but since the following games don't have any collections I can add them too, i'm going to just run with it.
