@Zignoff: Exactly... I also saw all the promo and hype for this Vaas-guy, and while I "get" the whole "menacing" thing, he was just so forced to be like that. - And then a long time later I played the game and it's just some kind of open-world sandbox "shoot all the guys you encounter" and not-so-interesting cutscenes (if you run into them) game...
Never mind the live-action guy... I don't even believe him as Vaas in the promos. I don't know what he's been like in other roles, but... well, then again, not that you need to be a freaking amazing actor for Marvel-movies these days.
@batts86 Haha... Something that's hyped up can't be shallow?? That's almost the definition of "hype" these days. As in, the thing that all the sheep follow... Never heard of stuff like Five Nights At Freddy's?... And the titles the other guy replied to you...
Oh, and a little franchise called CALL OF DUTY?!... Are you serious?... How much more shallow and hyped up at the same time can it get??
Well, this tactical stuff is cool and all... But my question is, will it have Japanese melodramatic anime nonsense and a batch of long, boring, drawn-out cutscenes that take longer than the gameplay-portion?... If so... screw dat noise... Cause I'm not a fan of Metal Gear or anything, but upon the hype (or years after it) of "MGS4", I decided to just get the game as I thought it couldn't be bad if it was praised all across the globe, but... Well, let's just say I sure learned to decide for my own from that day on...
It's not that videogames really dragged me through hard times or anything (though, maybe sometimes or subconsciously), music is more important to me in that aspect. But videogames are great for me to go on an adventure or be creative, or play a good story, or simply a good game actually scoring points and so on, having good fun.
However, videogames can also be very inspiring if you can't find it anywhere else. Whether it's a creative game or something that has a good story or has some kind of point to it, or perhaps some games just have great music in it as well.
To me, videogames sit right next to films and music, and each has its own purpose at different times.
Wow, I almost forgot about this game. I remember seeing a trailer of it I think... the one where they were on a bridge and shit hit the fan or something... unless that was for a "Ghost Recon" game. Anyway, I didn't mind the "Vegas"-venture as much, apart from it having technical and gameplay issues. But I'm hoping it will be a bit more "serious" again, and definitely mix realism with good gameplay. I kind of wish 'Payday 2' would've become more realistic in terms of like... dying... lol I mean, something that brought a lot of tension and suspense to RS was the fact you'd (almost) die if you'd get hit. "The Heist" reminded me a lot of "RS: Vegas" in feel, but then the action was more like 'Left 4 Dead' or something. Anyway, I hope this next "RS" brings more "realism" (although I hate that term in videogames), or as I like to say more "as is", in terms of having to use actual tactics and communication to take down, hopefully, intelligent AI. Or maybe even human terrorists, à la "Counter-Strike" I guess. But at least some great and dynamic situations with a lot better AI. Not AI that can snipe-headshot you with a shotgun from down the hall when their model isn't even looking, making you unaware of the AI actually seeing you. So, again, there should be more "as is".
@GONtheSKYLORD What the HELL are you talking about "always excited about 3 year old leftovers"?? Most games come out around the same time, occasionally games are brought out later, like in this case. And so what? If they're good games, why are they "leftovers"?? Just because you might plunk down 60 Dollars on a game on day one doesn't make the game any better. And who knows they might improve later releases, you don't know, cause you don't even consider it. Heck, you don't even know what a good PC costs.
That's not what I think it is. I think that Rockstar is one of those companies that thinks it doesn't sell on PC well enough anyway to even bother. And that's probably true for a lot of piracy and such things. I mean, there's little love for the PC from them, cause look at how problematic "GTAIV" was technically. I think they just release it later because they need to first of all port it before it works on the PC (and it still barely works in the case of "IV") and for the rest I feel it's pretty much an additional money-grab from all those PC-games that are left over. I doubt that anyone who really plays this on a console really bothers to get it again for the PC, especially since the graphcis aren't that amazing. And even if they were, the performance SUCKS, even on the better systems apparently. Well, even on consoles apparently, from what I've heard of it. They need to get their technical level up, because they're great with writing, characters, gameplay is OK, design, audio is also pretty great, but then... it's a technical mess. Which is sad and it's nothing but a hassle. No way it's a marketing-strategy other than some extra money or throwing a bone for the requests from PC-gamers.
