If you have the right tools you can open it and clean it yourself. It's pretty easy to open a PSP (there's videos on YouTube showing how to do it), but only do that, like i said, if you have the right tools, and of course, if your warranty already expired. I did that with my PSP-1000.

First of all, PSP-3000 screen has better colors, contrast, brightness and response time (greatly reduced ghosting). I recently changed my original PSP-1000 by a PSP-3000, and at first i couldn't notice the scanlines, but yes, they are there. The issue isn't nowhere near internet reports may suggest, but, if you look with attention, you can see the scanlines. It's unfortunate that the scanlines are visible, but, in my opinion, PSP-3000 screen is better than the screen of previous models. It would be perfect with all its features and without the scanlines, then we would call the PSP-3000 the definitive version. The way it is, by my preferences, it is the better version to date, but certainly not the definitive version. With the PSP-3000 you basically change the ghosting by the scanlines, but with better color, contrast and brightness. If you can't stand scanlines, go PSP-2000, if you can't stand ghosting, and want better colors, contrast and brigtness, go PSP-3000. At last, with you want the better of both, wait for PSP-4000 or PSP2 :P .

I'm currently playing it and i'm liking it very much. The gameplay is very entertaining and the graphics are amazing. Awesome production values for a handheld game. A must have for fans of the Final Fantasy universe.

I was thinking of upgrading my piano black 1000 to a 3000, but I wasn't sure if I'd like the silver color. I know the black complements the screen better, but I was thinking that mabye I'd want a color change.motherboop

Then you should consider the ice silver. I'm very satisfied with it, and that comes from a guy that loved the piano black. Like i said, it wasn't my first choice, but once i held it i wanted anything else.

I'm still having fun with my PSP, and that's not because a lack of choice, since i own a 360, PS3 and DS. I didn't even play Crisis Core yet. I'm currently enjoying very much an awesome strategy RPG called Jeanne D'ark, and with games like Parasite Eve to be released i think i will stil enjoy my PSP for quite some time. But sure, i wan't to see a PSP2 in the future. A perfect PSP2 for me, in terms of hardware, would be very similar to the PSP layout, but with dual analog sticks, of course, analog buttons (like Dual Shock 2 and 3), and 4 shoulder buttons instead of just 2. All that, with a considerably more powerful hardware would make a perfect handheld. But that in the future, right now the original PSP is just fine. Well, but i do have to say i'm missing games like Gran Turismo and Devil May Cry on it.

What color 3000 did you get, Danbal?motherboop

Ice silver. It came with Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets (movie), Echochrome code and 1GB memory stick pro duo. My previous PSP-1000 was piano black, and i had planned to buy a piano black PSP-3000 as well, but that until i saw the ice silver in my hands. It's simply beautiful..

I have it and i agree, it's a little too difficult for its own good. I think i would be able to enjoy it more it if it wasn't too punishing.
