Anthems

Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk by Emperor

Released July 8th, 1997

Genre: Symphonic Black Metal

Tracks:

1. Alsvartr (The Oath) 04:18
2. Ye Entrancemperium 05:15
3. Thus Spake the Nightspirit 04:30
4. Ensorcelled by Khaos 06:39
5. The Loss and Curse of Reverence 06:10
6. The Acclamation of Bonds 05:54
7. With Strength I Burn 08:17
8. The Wanderer 02:5

Pretty much every extreme metal fan knows Emperor. In The Nightside Eclipse is wildly considered on of the best BM albums of all time...I may be committing blasphemy by saying this...but I personally prefer the two albums that followed it, by a large margin, in my opinion, Anthems and Equilibrium are both far superiour to the much beloved Nightside. Anthems in particular, stands out for me as the best thing the band has ever done. Some of the best riffs, best drumming, best songwriting, best...well...everything, that Emperor have done. Overall, pretty much everything about this album is pure win IMO.

Also, With Strength I Burm>>>I Am The Black Wizards. >______>

Total playing time 39:33

Ah Bolt Thrower....where to begin with this album...one of the most incredibly consistent bands around, BT have never put out anything short of excellence (though admitedly, that is in part due to a lack of variety in their music...) it was a very tough choice between this and all the other BT albums, but in the end, I think TOL beats out the other albums by just a small little margin, in my opinion, this is the most memorable and well written album they have produced.

Castlevania Order *dies* of Ecclesia*dies**dies*dies**dies yet again*

Castlevania

Recently got the above game, my first real foray into the Castlevania series...as you can probably guess from the title...I was horribly unprepared for this game ㅠ_ㅠ

I've only ever played one level of a Castlevania game before, quite a while back, so I wasn't really sure of what I was getting into when I bought this..(But was in the mood for a good none gimicky DS game, and I know I enjoyed the little bit I played of one before).

This game is quite possibly the hardest game I've played in a LONG time, I'm pretty sure my death count in the first half is somewhere in the upper millions

That said, this game is addicting, and a blast to play, despite some insanely difficult boss fights.

A lot of fans complained about the level based first half (as opposed to the open to exploration castle during the second half, and the main area in most Castlevania games)...personally, I actually preferred the first half of the game...yes, the castle was fun to explore and all, but the first half just felt more satisfying to me TBH, during the first half, I felt challenged, but never unfairly so, it was always rewarding to finally figure out how to kill the boss that just slaughtered you a thousand times...during the second half, much of the challenge was gone (maybe its just that I got better at the game..but it just felt too easy compared to the first half), the standard enemies were more dangerous then the ones in the first half, but the bosses were pushovers, most of them died after one or two attempts...the final battle was quite possibly the most disappointing part of the whole game, Dracula, supposedly the most dangerous monster in the series...killed me a grand total of one time before I beat him. :|

Though I admit to very nearly crying when I found out there was a hard mode on top of what I've already done...ㅠ_ㅠ

Despite some complaints about the second half, this is still one of the best DS games I've ever played (Kinda has to be for me to bother blogging about it..:P ) Definitely impressed with this game , and can't wait to try the others in the series :D (Just ordered Portrait Of Ruin yesterday, actually:P)

1. "Deadwing" 9:46
2. "Shallow" 4:17

(Alas, youtube is severely lacking in Porcupine Tree songs...except covers:x )

You can not have a music countdown without including Porcupine Tree in some way, simply one of the best bands around...and also one of the few bands that it seems that damn near everyone can agree is awesome :D

Deadwing in my current personal favorite album by them, but that changes almost every time I listen to something by them is seems....all their albums are epic win:P

Metroid Prime Trilogy....epic win.

First gaming related blog in a LONG time...:o

Prime

Best. Gaming. Deal. Ever

I just finished my first play through of the three games on this disc...all I can say is...wow, this series really is incredible.

Nearly everything about these games in perfect, or nearly so, from the great controls, to the fantastic graphics (for the wii), to the great art design, I had trouble finding any real flaws in any of these games, aside from maybe just a little too much back tracking in some points.

The fact that it actually made me turn on my Wii after a year or so of gathering dust is a nice bonus as well

With three games all lasting 20+ hours, for the price of a single game, this is hands down one of/the best deals around in gaming, I can't recomend it enough.

Might get around to writing a full review later on...gotta beat all three games with 100% completions on the Hypermode difficulty first. :P

Went to see Avatar...

Avatar

I'm awful at movies review, so I'll keep this short.

Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. I admit, the story is a little bit cliche...however, it is incredibly well told, so I don't care. :P (Though it was admittedly very black and white...pretty much now moral ambiguity at all...).

This is one of the few movies that reach the 3 hour mark that actually manages to keep my attention from start to finish, it may have started out a little bit slow, but it picked up quickly, and stayed going throughout. The final battle scene at the end was simply spectacular.

And....I think this should go without saying at this point...but the visuals in this movie are jaw dropping...some of the scenes of Pandora almost literally had my jaw on the floor.

And....thats about all I can think of to say:P If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it:D (And I think that it could use a bit more money... )
