@quadknight: LOL.

So much blur.

Dino-womyn needs some help.

It's almost like she's near-sighted.

Consolites.

Even though this game can pull enough twitch viewers to fill up a football stadium. Barely anyone will care about this game here.

Well yeah, it's not on the PS4 and it isn't a movie game with Nathan or robotic dinosaurs (worst half-baked idea since the Steampunk genre).

I also have my doubts that a console port could accommodate 100 players in a large multiplayer environment.

Early access is such a quagmire of uncertainty, and I can typically resist, but goddammit, this game's got me.

There are developers' whose early access pedigree I trust wholeheartedly (i.e. Klei) and then there are the fly by night modders turned amateur developers (i.e. Rocket (eat a dick you ADD Kiwi)) that I don't trust.

I didn't play H1Z1 and I haven't played an ARMA game since 2 and its expansions, but this thing has hooked me like a distilled version of DayZ when it was still just a mod.

Get rid of the base building / loot hoarding, and zombies and drill down to the essence of what made DayZ the adrenaline kick that it was.

100 unarmed antisocial dumbasses in a plane choose where they want to parachute into a large wide open map and then scramble to scavenge some weaponry and kill one another until only one player/squad remains.

Maintain ARMA's unforgiving sim gameplay and quick kills while forcing players to move into an ever shrinking gameplay area as more and more of the 100 players are killed off.

As I stated, I have not played H1Z1, but this concept of a shrinking concentric circle that defines the current valid gameplay area (which penalizes you by gradually reducing your health as long as you remain outside the current game play area) was apparently introduced by the game's dev (former modder) who was apparently responsible for both the original ARMA 3 Battle Royale mod as well as H1Z1's King of the Kill.

I think it's an awesome mechanic because it forces campers to maintain a certain amount of mobility and when you combine it with solid gunplay it equals adrenaline overload.

It's currently killing it on Steam, but I hope that the devs don't pull a Rocket and bail before it's ever complete. DayZ was much more ambitious with all that Rocket hoped to achieve, but I think that PUBG has identified an achievable scope; 100 fools enter 1-4 leave.

Time will tell.

In the meantime, there are tons of YouTube videos that seem to suggest viral interest and the comments sections filled with begging consolites is always amusing.

Start making those petitions.

The trailer doesn't really capture the suspense/adrenaline aspect, but it's an alpha trailer.

The Yogscast are notoriously terrible at most games (esp. FPS/TPS), but, for me, their production values and banter make up for it. Watching a full round where they manage to play semi-competently [sic] with post production suspenseful music helps capture more of the atmosphere of the game.

This shit thread is vile. Let me post a punch of photos with no context of the discussion being presented and stir up mah neckbeard base.

You fucking nerds arent gonna do anything about it but act mad on the internet so who cares?

You gonna stop buying games? NO.

Who said anything about "doing something?"

If you really feel that way, then perhaps you should join the GAF perma-SJWchamber?

It was a thread about a formerly interesting event having been poisoned by unrelated ideologically obsessed bullshit.

Absolutely disgusting.

"Let's play Balkanize gaming!"

Irrelevant SJW hipster welfare recipients who make "games" that no one but their own fart sniffing clique gives a damn about.

I love the "end white CIS gender able bodied man as the default," as though this is actually an issue. There have been plenty non-white, non-male, protagonists in vidya for decades. (Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider, Bushido Blade, The Suffering, etc.)

I don't give a damn what a game's protagonist is into sexually as it typically has 0 bearing on the game.

The mentally ill gender dysphoric demographic (my opinion (not referring to intersex individuals just the recent popularity of being an oppression olympian/social media whore)) are a miniscule (but in social media terms, inordinately loud) fraction of the global population.

You want representation, then make your own damn games because we all know that you'll be the first to take to social media to screech about "stereotypical/inaccurate representation" were those same horrible "straight white CIS male devs" to attempt to create a game which offered the snowflake demographic representation.

Video games have traditionally allowed people to play as an individual more powerful than themself; whether or not the player shared the same gender, ethnicity, etc. used to be irrelevant because as a player, you wanted the character to succeed because you were playing them, not because you shared some token aspect of the character's identity, but maybe that was an Xer/Boomer thing.

I think that the Zelda games are kids' trash, but it looks like a diverse range of people can still identify with some noodle armed, anime eyed, elfin kid and still desire to see him succeed.

Games like Surgeon Simulator or Goat Simulator play off the idea of playing as something less powerful/inept as a gimmick, but in the end, their appeal is limited.

Who wants to play as a bumbling moron/animal when everyday life already offers that?

Apart from an exercise in empathy, why would people even want to play as a disabled (handicapped) protagonist through multiple titles unless that character also possessed some sort of extraordinary powers?

It's not a selling point for the able bodied or disabled. If anything, I would imagine (I may be wrong in this respect) that the disabled would prefer to experience a game in a body capable of doing the things they cannot, just like the able bodied players who desire to play a character capable of things which they are not (i.e. magic, feats of strength, extreme bravery, etc.)

"Capitalism's bad, mmmkay..." say the millenial dipshits who have likely never left their Western home country; much less visited a former/present communist/socialist country.

Capitalism has plenty of faults, but having been to Russia, Sweden, Cambodia, China, Cuba, and Vietnam, I am of the opinion that you could definitely do worse; nevermind that the only reason democratic socialism somewhat works in the countries in which it is practiced has more to do with their (relative to the U.S./E.U.) size.

As a Warhammer 40k fan (game and TT) that looks really bad and looks even worse than the mobile game Warhammer 40k Space Wolf. Everything from the voice acting, textures and sound (seriously the bolters sound like they belong from a fps in the 90s) just look horrible.

Yeah, I covered all that in the OP.

The gameplay is solid and in the end that's what matters most to me. Steam reviews seem to agree so far.

YMMV, but it beats having to invest $1000s to field the variety of units included in the game, plus all the money required to model the terrain, and as poor as the animation and sound assests may be, last I checked the tabletop models don't animate or make any sounds.

There's a lot of room for improvement in plenty of areas, but it's an entertaining first effort toward a streamlined computerized version of the tabletop game; in spite of it's lack of AAA production values.

Quit while you're ahead.

Your latest infographic is indecipherable shit.

I already used your own supposed point against you, so what does your decontextualized infographic prove this time?
