@HomieHesAKlown Nope, it's a PC game with a Linux and Mac version.

I take it you never played the Infinity Engine games? If not I'd recommend checking them out on GOG.com where you can buy 'em for super cheap now, 'cause those are the games that Project Eternity is supposed to be a callback to. There's also Troika's "The Temple of Elemental Evil" which from the looks of this footage seems pretty comparable to what Project Eternity is going for in terms of visual quality and perspective.

There's tons of games with 3D models and 2D backgrounds that works just fine. It's exactly what games like the Final Fantasy and Resident Evil series did during the PS1 era.

Though I'm disappointed that Suikogaiden's not here to post a comment about how we're all retarded for supporting a screensaver or something and how this game is never coming out and how Obsidian is using kickstarter to scam us all and we all deserve what we get, etc etc.

@midnight_trashh Really? I thought this captured the look and feel of the original Shadowrun players handbooks pretty well.

And I'm not sure what you mean by "dumbed down". The interface looks far less cumbersome and more user-friendly, sure, but the actual mechanics are all still seem very much intact. In fact they seem a bit more in depth than before, especially the dialogue.

As for the look being too cartoonish... well, this *is* a $1,800,000 game, and not a AAA game that publishers threw tens of millions at. Visual realism isn't exactly in the the budgetary stars.

@DeathbyStereo19 TWD, as you noted, is a free social game. Well, ya get what ya pay for, because compared to the likes of games like Fallout 1 and 2, Arcanum, Temple of Elemental Evil (games that are much more comparable to Shadowrun Returns) etc, AMC's facebook game is pretty simplified, both in gameplay and narrative mechanics. In TWD you don't do much except for killing undead, gathering supplies, and something killing undead AND gathering supplies if they feel like shaking things up a bit. Games like this have more depth and variety to them, with a heavy emphasis on narrative and incorporating actual elements of role-playing.

@WoZe @Dat-tsu @poovannaorcbane Wasted? How so, exactly? I think $45 for two games I'd gladly pay full retail price for (twice) is a pretty good use of spare cash.

@jmr1986 You might as well ask why Steven Spielberg needs funding from a studio to get his movie made, since I'm sure he's got plenty to spare.

The thing about Kickstarter is that it's not just a method of obtaining funds, but also a way of seeing if people are interested in product you want to make for them. He's not gonna bother making a game unless he's sure that people want to play it, and $2,000,000 worth of "Yes, please!" speaks pretty loudly.
