@n9302347078: Base game maybe free-to-play, but if you really want to experience full content and not have to pay for DLCs, it's subscription based. However, even if everything was completely free, it would only reinforce my point that ES6 has no effect on ESO. Whether ZeniMax gets money from subscription or money from boxes sold, it is just pennies compared to what they'll make once ES6 is released.
Howard just said that it's in pre-production and Starfield in production. Technology for ES6 is "getting there". Sounds like they're building a new engine. So, ES6 is probably 2-3 years away.
@sdzald: I think ES6 and ESO are different games and would be competing for different audience. Even if there is overlap, ESO is subscription based. ZeniMax doesn't care if you play it or not, just as long as you pay the monthly fee. People playing ESO are not going to cancel their subscriptions and lose all progress just to play ES6 for a few months. So, even if a new ES game came out tomorrow, in a long-term, it wouldn't affect ESO much.
@ninboxstation: I doubt that. If you chose solo option, it'll probably lock the game for others and only create a solo instance for you. Kind of like Diablo or Conan Exiles or any other solo/multi game out there.
Edit: I was wrong. Just watched Howard's interview on YT. There are no NPCs in Fallout 76. So, you will always see other players. But, he said they are tweaking how PVP will work. They don't want to turn it into Rust, but at the same time, they want to make it a little exciting.
@tom_cat_01: It's not massive - only dozens of players per world, so it's not like MMO. But, if you don't want to play by yourself in an empty world with boring NPCs, you can play on a server where there's chance you'll run into other players and their creations.
Edit: scratch that. No NPCs. It's always online, so you will always run into other players; whether it's single play or multi.
