DeeDeeDee-er Blog

"And she did it. just like that...

...when she want something and don't wanna pay for it" This should be really easy for EVERYBODY. Come on people.

I don't have much time to talk. It's almost midnight, I need to something for Science, and my parents could catch me (I should at least be in bed). I did revisit the amazing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a few days ago, and I still deem it best game ever, End of story. Just to make this a proper blog, here's my ten favorite video games ever, starting at #10.

10. Crash Bandicoot 3

I played this game for endless hours when I visited my dad. He would complain that it was sucking visiting time, but I was too entranced by the pure fun.

9. Pokemon Silver

Although I now find these games a little too childish and easy for my tastes, there's no denying the place in my heart Pokemon gained. I would actually pick this game up and start playing again once I'm done with my current games.

8. Sonic Adventure

Sonic games have proved to be a little on the easy side for me recently, but there is no doubt that the hours I spent with this game were timeless. I played it both on Dreamcast and Gamecube, and either way, it's a great game (of course original is better). Fast paced, great graphics, fun, goofy, need I say more?

7. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The first game I got for the Wii. It has sentimental value for that purpose (the Wii is the greatest system ever, along with Super Nintendo), not to mention it's stunning graphics and rushing gameplay. I thought it had one of the best Zelda story lines to date.

6. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

It was close between this and LOZ: TP, which one would come out first, but I just couldn't pass up the creative gameplay and loveable graphics. Easily the best handheld game ever, with unique controls, puzzling twists, and brilliant level designs.

5. Super Mario World

One of the early great games. Mario has become the most well-known and beloved video game mascot in history, and rightfully so. This game is everything a video game could promise (screw graphics, they're not that important), great gameplay, fun level design, just everything you could ever pack into a cartridge.

4. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I once hailed this my favorite game ever, but that was a little overreaction at first. It is still one of my favorites ever. The graphics were sharp, clear, realistic, shocking considering Nintendo didn't want to focus on graphics, but it was beautiful. The fighting techniques were absolutely genius, and even better thought it were the controls and the enemies. My favorite shooter game of all time, easily.

3. Super Mario Galaxy

Everyone looked forward to this game for so long (not as long as #2). It had colorful and brilliant graphics, so sweet you could eat the planets like candy. The controls were nicely done, not to bastardize the Wii's motion sensitivity controls, just here and there a nice little trick, and pretty basic control. The greatest thing about the level was the amazing level design. It was just so creative and perfectly done. You'd know if you had/have the game.

2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

After three delays, endless anticipation, many people's lost sleep (not mine, I'm not a nerd :P), and begging for character inclusion, was it all worth it? Hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've always loved Super Smash Bros. games, and this one is by far the best of them. The Subspace Emissary is one of my favorite story modes ever because it pulls togetther all the famous video game icons, and puts them in one great story. The fighting (brawling if you will), is so well executed, and makes for the ultimate multi-player experience. I expect a comment form Al (alp1981) about his not liking this game, but too bad, it's a great game, deal with it.

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

What a shock :P. I'm sure you've now realized my love (or you could call it an obsession) for Legend of Zelda games. What makes this one the best? Simple: it was revolutionary, well designed, perfect amount of difficulty, ingenious dungeon designs, great storyline, amazing fighting, and overall: pure perfection. This game is without a doubt the most perfect game ever, and one of the most perfect things ever, period. The bosses are more challenging in OOT than in any other LOZ game, and perfectly so. If you never played this game, you're missing something big. It's just 100% perfection. Nothing less, and it could never be anything more. This game will never be surpassed.

"It's getting near dawn...

...when lights close their tired eyes" You must get this, or you don't have a soul. If you don't know it, you are a meaningless empty body walking around the Earth listlessly. That, or you haven't had the fortune of hearing the song :P. Has the best riff ever (don't "Smoke on Water" me anyone).

I saw a pretty sweet criminal chase today. I had to go with my parents to a friens house. It wasn't bad, pretty fun actually. We heard a helicopter, and assumed it was just passing by or something. But it went on for a good hour, and we saw a spotlight. We heard a speaker, "We have you surrounded. We know you're in the apartment. Surrender yourselves." We think they lost them because the pursuit continued, but no matter what, I nearly sh!t my pants walking back to the car, I was pretty freaked out. I'm used to police sirens though, my house is a block away from a police and fire station, so we hear sirens about 10 times a day, ambulance, firetruck, police cruiser, whatever.

My birthday's coming up. I'm taking some friends to see the new Indiana Jones. First, we're going to the only mini golf place on Esrth that doesn't suck (you'd know why if you saw it), then seeing the movie, that grabbing some food. Unfortunately, it seems like it'll be really orderly, but you never know. On my 13th birthday, security for a mall yelled (and I mean yelled) at me and my friends for f*****g around with the escalator outside a bowling alley. My parents had driven us there, but we were pretty lucky because they were somewhere else at the time, that guy seriously wanted to talk to them. We avoided passing him later :P.

Today's one of my friend's birthday. Another meaningless day for you to celebrate . Chug, chug, chug!!!

I woke up today and decided to learn how to [lay "Better Man" by Pearl Jam. It took about 2 minutes to learn, and one minute to perfect considering how simple it is, two riffs and a chord progression.

Last night, I made a cover recording of "Mayonaise", finally. The recording software wasn't coooperating well with me, so there is a strange volume swell in the first 30 seconds of the song, and I had trouble getitng the rythym for the solo in time with the solo with Garage Band, but it still kicked many-a-bottom. If I ever figure out how to upload songs, I'll put it up.

Last night, I watched the movie Into the Wild. It was a pretty haunting and sad story, but very inspirational and thought invigorating. It teaches a good lesson, that all the best times in life are spent with other people. *SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER* I didn't like the fact that he died from eating a poisonous plant which caused paralysis and digestion problems, but it was a true story and all, so it had to go that way. The ending was gruesome and hard to take, but you have to acknowledge that it happened, and he died content in life. I loved the mai song Eddie Vedder wrote for it, "Guaranteed". It's beautiful. Some of the other songs are okay, but this one stood out as great. I don't know if I could take watchng the movie again knowingwhat happens. It's too depressing.

Mario Kart Wii is getting better and better. The controld just clicked with me and I was really good at it from the start. There aren't many games where everything just clicks with me and I'm great at the game, but this was one. I will destroy you in any race. I killed my friend in every race yesterday, beating him and everyone else by about 8 seconds each time. Because he sucked at the game, he decided that the game was okay, but did admit it was just because he was bad at it.

Tomorrow, I will journey to the Wii Shop, and for the mere price of $10, revisit the magic of Legend of Zekda: Ocarina of Time, the greatest game ever, no arguments. I never finished the game, but it was amazing, and I have to go back to it, now that I've mastered Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. I think I'll play OOT tomorrow, then a little mario Kart Wii and end with a little Super Smash Bros.: Brawl. All three great games.

Hahaha, I got $40 from my grandma today and $25 from my aunt and uncle, so I've got money for CDs. I'm waiting until my birthday, on which day I get a 20% discount at F.Y.E., which would mean, that it's practically a buy 4 CDs get one free deal (assuming all CDs are almost $20, which they usually aren't, but oh well). I've ogt ony my list "Parklife" by Blur (sorry Shadow, after demoing every Blur album, this one sounds best), "Disraeli Gears" by Cream, "Pinkerton" by Weezer, "Pablo Honey" by Radiohead (gotta finish my RH collection whether or not I'm trying to get into some new bands), and whatever else I find that looks good. If I can't find anything by a band I've never heard of that looks good, I'll extend my Pearl Jam collection. I'm making (finding) new friends (bands), but keeping the old, and continuing to love the old. Even if I'm getting into new bands, 'm still just as hyped about the Radiohead concert in August. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Of course tomorrow's Mother's Day for us Yanks, so I have to cater to my mom, give her some expensive sh!t, go to dinner, yadayadayada. But I don't mind, my parents are actually cool. My step-dad's favorite bands are Nirvana and Bad Religion, my mom's is Sublime, and they both like just about any band I like. My step-dad taught me how to play volleyball, something I enjoy a lot, and my possible ticket to beer sometime, and taught me how to surf. On top of that, they actually have never given a sh!t about me watching South Park. My dad's cool too, but I don;t see him as often. I owe him thanks for every bit of musical talent I have, as he was a badass saxophone player (before he had brain surgery and couldn't pucker to play), and a f*****g awesome singer. He sings opera, which is annoying, but it's the hardest thing in music possible. He can sing like Chris Cornell, Thom Yorke, anybidy with a great voice. Not quite as good in the rock area as Cornell, but still great.

Why the f**k am I talking about my parents? Oh well, I have the only parents that rock (as my friends also agree), you might rock, Radiohead rocks, Pearl Jam rocks, tons of other bands rock, but I still rock the most of any of them. Uhhh, not sure where I'm going wit this, *sneaks of and ends blog*.

"Woke up this morning...

...with a wine glass in my hand/whose wine?/what wine?/where the hell did I dine?" This should be easy for some, but might prove difficult for others. I gurantee you've heard at least part of this song before. I f'in love this song, listening to it right now. May I suggest you celebrate my birthday by getting drunk :P. Although, I don't think I have to tell Shadow to do that .

Anyway, my birthday's coming up in about two weeks (May 19th, a little less than 2), so I figured I begin clebrations. I'm already planning to buy some CDs on my bithday in the wake of a few suggestions (thanks Shadow, and Elmis for suggesting a "broadening") to try out some new genres. I think I'll grab "Parklife" by Blur (I know one person who'll be happy about that), "Disraeli Gears" by Cream, "Pinkerton" by Weezer, and any other suggestions you throw at me. Well, the best suggestions I get. I still want to get "Pablo Hney" and finish my Radiohead collection, but I'll get these too.

I made a few changes to my 50 greatest bands list for school. I moved Pearl Jam down near 20 and Radiohead around 10 (I understand that's still too high to be unbiased at all, but oh well, deal with it). I added in quite a few bands, that clearly deserved a high spot (like CCR and Buddy Holly).

I still am obsessed with Radiohead, and have almost relistened to all their albums. I wanna make sure I know everything for the concert.

MORE TO COME LATER...I NEED TO DO HOMEWORK :P I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH A FUNNY PICTURE:

"She lies and says...

..she's in love with him, can't find a..." Finish that lyric, and in the process, name the song and then say who it's by.

Today was a pretty tiring day. I did my usual 8:00 (yes, eight o'clock) wake up, rushed to get ready and get to school on time, ran to class (my step-dad drives me, I'm sooo lazy :P). We had STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) tests today. We had the )get ready for this long name) California English-Language Arts Standards Test (whew). As it is every year, it was really easy. Not a question about whether or not I did exceptional. Tomorrow, we do part 2 of it, and then Social Studies, which I'll probably do worst on (we have to remember everything we've learned in that class for the last three years on this test), then Math and Science next week, which I'll ace.

Speaking of saying "ace", I nearly aced my Math test. Since our first test (which I got an 100% on), I've been itchin for an A. I finally got my wish when I got a 197/200, a 98.5%! I got every answer right, but I didn't label two of my graphs and lost three points. A parent signature gives me 6 extra points, pushing me over 100% to 101.5%!!! I brought my grade up from an 82% to a 90% in a few days. That means on our progress report (quarterly report card, not the same as a normal report card) which we get this Friday, I'll have my first 4.0 of the year (I've consistently got 3.833 and once a 3.666666). I'm smrt :P.

I got a few early birthday presents from my dad this week. He flew out to visit, and I gave him his birthday presents (his birthday is on tax day, sucker), and so he bought me a few early since I won't see him for a while. First, I needed a new basketball, so we grabbed one of those. Nothing great, but I liked getitng it. Next, I got these two things.

Mario Kart Wii

Wow, just wow. One of the best games for the Wii. The wheel makes it feel like you have an arcade machine right in your hoouse. The levels are creatively done and deliciously zany, and the characters are fun, as in any Mario game. The addition of thge option of using bikes is interesting and adds two different driving skills to the game (it feels a little different although the controls are the same). I'm looking forward to long weekends with this game :P.

"Amnesiac" by Radiohead

I got to choose between this and "Pablo Honey", and of course, I would pick this. I figured this would just be a dumbed down, less original version of "Kid A". I figured it would be good, not great. I was totally wrong. With "Amnesiac", Radiohead finds a great middle ground between "Kid A" and "Hail to the Thief", altering in between full electronics like "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors" and brilliant guitar driving like "Knives Out". Quite a good record.

Standouts:"Pyramid Song", "Knives Out", "Morning Bell/Amnesiac"

Score: 9.0/10

To think that Radiohead's second worst album gets a 9.0 is astounding.

Tonight, I'm listening to "Kid A" again. I've relistened to all my Radiohead records in the past week (meaning I've heard all their songs except those from "Pablo Honey"), and find them even better than usual. Tomorrow I'll listen to "In Rainbows" again, and I'll get "Pablo Honey" soon so I can finish my Radiohead fix. Once I'm done, I'll review every RH album.

I worked on a 50 Greatest Bands of All Time list in Science, Social Studies, and in Multimedia. In multimedia, the list was actually my work. I had to make this article with a partner because after he saw my idea, he copied me and when I bb!tched to him, we decided to make the list together. I had to make some compromises, so everything isn't how I would put it. I'll post it when we're done. I tried to keep it unbiased, but I couldn't help putting Radiohead at #5 (which most people who saw the list surprsingly agreed with) and Pearl Jam at #7 (same thing). The only person who didn't think Radiohead should be on the list was an idiot. He heard me and my partner mention Bob Dylan when making ths list, and he said, "Is Bob Dylan in Radiohead?" I told just about every about this. Everyone cracked when they heard it.

The other article I'm gonna write for the newspaper will also be about music. I'll write about my theory of a musical recession, and ask people their opinions.

In political news: Obama absolutely destroyed Clinton in North Carolina with a 14 point spread. In Indiana, luckily for Obama, the race is still too close to call in a state which was highly Clinton favorable. He trails by only 4 points and still has a shot at victory. Even if he doesn't win, the delegate spread he gains will be massive. He's also recently gained many superdelegates. John McCain is fading into the background, and both Obama and Clinton are beating him in nearly all polls. Nat'l polls between Obama and Clinton are close again, but Obama is still winning on average.

At school we had a volleyball game against a school from Palos Verdes. If yo don't know (which you probably don't) PV is the snobby rich kid area. We beat their team 25-9 and 25-5 in an absolute destruction. In the second game, I served the first 15 points! We usually play a thir game just for practice, and the other team said "Yeah! Let's play another game! Except we get that guy so we'll win!"and he pointed at me :P. Me and the other club player left for our practice and actually would have made it on time, but we were hungry and stopped at 7-11 for some food (AKA ice cream sandwiches). We got worked like dogs at practice because a few players were being lazy.

Last night, I added "Just" by Radiohead to my guitar repertoire. That's all for today. Now leave...comment first :P.

"If the devil is six...

...then God is seven" Easy one if you know anything about undergroundish music. Otherwise, farily easy nonetheless.

I had my first school volleyball match, against the school that is usually hailed as pretty much the volleyball god school. This is why it was such a disappointment. We started off the game with a quick kill, and then I was up to serve. I served 10 in a row, hard float serves, about 5 aces. They eventually got a sideout, but they were down by so much (11-1), it didn't make a difference. We beat them 25-12, which is a beating. The next game, all of the non-club players (everybody except me and one of our setters) went in overly-confident. We ,ost 26-24 (the games are to 25, but you have to win by 2). We went in, starting with the serve/ We got the first point, but two inexperienced players let an easy ball drop right in between them. They got a few points, and it mostly went back and forth. Long story short, they won the third game 15-12 (third game is to 15). Ther reason we lost is probably because our starting middle blockers were replaced to give other players some time. Unfortunately, one of the two plyers made 9 errors (this means he lost 9 points for us), and only got 1 point. That combined with the fact that he was subbed in for one of our best passers didn't help much. I took the loss lightly because it was a school game, not a competitive club game where the ball is traveling back and forth at about 100 mph :P. You should have seen the last hit I had in the game. Traveled at a good 50 mph, straight down the line for a kill. I own. Speaking of volleyball, my club team has an Optional (meaning it's for practice, it isn't worth points and it doesn't affect ranking or seeding) tournament, and we're seeded 2nd! That's because we're the 4th seed overall (tied for 3rd technically), and the top two teams aren't playing.

I figured I'd list my ten favorrite bands of all time in response to my last blog.

I learned that there still is a two way tie for first, followed by a three way tie for 3rd (meaning 3rd, 4th, and 5th are tied).

Keep in mind:

THIS IS A FAVORITES LIST, NOT A GREATEST OF ALL TIME LIST!!!!

There you have it. I haven't listed my ten favorite bands in a long time. That took some thought to think out the order, but the songs weren't well thought out, so I likely missed something.

Now for an unbiased list.

The Ten Greatest Grunge Songs

The first three all get an explanation, but I don't have time to explain every one.

1. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana- Although most Nirvana fans would tell you that it's one of the weakest tracks on "Nevermind" (including myself), it was the most popular grunge song made, and the one that broke grunge into the mainstream.

2. "Alive" by Pearl Jam- Clearly a '90s anthem, not to mention one of the greatest solos ever. It helped Pearl Jam break out and become the best selling American band of the '90s. One of the most influential songs written in the '90s.

3. "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden- Because of controversy about the lyrics, it never completely broke into the mainstream. However, nearly any grunge fan would always put this as one of their top ten songs. It has an amazing vocal performance, and the band spits out whatever they want in the lyrics.

4. "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog

5. "Touch Me I'm Sick" by Mudhoney

6. "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains- Note: AiC is really metal, but since they were such a large part of the grunge scene, I have to consider them grunge oon this list.

7. "Heart-Shaped Box" by Nirvana

8. "Intersate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots- Considered more post-gringe, but had to include it.

9. "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam

10. "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden

"My eyes stick to all the shiny roses

...you wear on the protein delta strip" I expect Elmis, Indie, and possibly Shadow and Jacob to get this. It should prove tough to most.

I'm am absolutely befuddled. I got 32 comments from you readers on my last blog. I believe 7 or 8 different people posted (excluding myself), but everybody kept coming back and posting more. Thanks for making me feel like I'm entertaining lots of people out here.

Anyways, I'm in a state of...........................err..............................let's say mental confusion. I'm trying to settle on one single favorite band of all time. Only problem is, I've got so many favorites, picking one is hard. I need you to get behind oe band and convince me why they're better than all the others. The most convincing argument will win, and I will likely declare them my favorite band of all time. I'm not looking for an essay here, just tell me why they're the best, and it will convince me, or it won't. If it doesn't convince me, that doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it didn't show me anything.

RADIOHEAD

Why they'd be here is quite obvious. Extreme talent, amazing lyrics, their frontman is crazy, you know, the works. But is there something I'm missing? Is there some tiny element that would push them over the edge and make them my favorite?

PEARL JAM

Easily the most talented grunge band. Two amazing guitarists, a great vocalist, great drummer, versatile bassist, and to top it off, some of the best lyrics ever written. What could push them over that I haven't mentioned?

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS

The Pumpkins have an extremely unique **** They take grunge elemtns, and toss in a little dream pop, put the blender and high, and get something great. They have an amazing frontman (Billy Corgan, my favorite musician ever) whoshreds like crazy and writes great songs, one fof the best drummers around, and the other two, no matter who they are, always do their job nicely. Sure, Billy is a stuck up a$$hole, or so I've heard, but they more than make up for it.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

They're slowly slipping out of their ranking, but I'm giving them a chance to be revived as the favorite. Kiedis can't write lyrics for his life, but Frusciante, Flea, and Chad make up for it with funk filled talent bursts. Kiedis is a great frontman, and when he raps, a great vocalist.

SOUNDGARDEN

Kind of ties Pearl Jam as the most talented grynge band. First off: Chris Cornell=best vocalist in history. Kim Thayil is an amazing shredder. His solos have the coolest sound imaginable. Ben Shepherd always had an awesome attitude and stage presence, and they had Pearl Jam's current drummer Matt Cameron. They're so talented, they write great songs, what could possibly stop them? For one thing, they're no longer a band. That's their biggest weakness.

Runner-up bands: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth

There are the facts, now persuade me!

NOTE: I often talk of my hate for negative campaigns in politics. But remember, this isn't a f*****g election! Attack the bands you don't like at your will. Use videos as examples in comparisons, but convince me dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"And my bitter hands...

...cradle broken glass, of what was everything" It is law by the code of Dee that you know this song.

I got my Radiohead tickets in the mail today. Apparently, when it said "the tickets will arive on August 25th", it meant, "the tickets will arrive by at least August 25th". I'm even more psyched than ever. So excited, I used the song "Lucky" by Radiohead for a presentation about...get ready for the topic of my project...lynching of African-Americans. We're preparing to read "To Kill a Mockingbird", so we split into groups and di projects about the civil rights movement and pre-mobement topics. I made an iMovie, complete with a brilliantly emotional song, and gruesome pictures, which I WILL NOT show. They could make you sick if you have a weak stomac. If you need an idea, there's a picture of a black man being burned, as you can see his ashes on his body.

I'm not sure how Radiohead tickets turned into something about a movie about lynching. On to a less disgusting topic. I'm restringing my guitar for the first time in a few months tomorrow. The main reason being that Sam Ash had a sale on Elixirs (my favorite string brand), where if I bought two acoustic string packs, I got an electric string pack free. I bought the pack, and then threw in one extra electric pack. Grabbed a few new picks (my picks seem to disappear a lot), and I was set. I took all the stirngs off today, but instead of restringing, just busted out my Strat and rocked it for the first time in a while. I got a great tone out of it, and did some pretty sick soloing, including a "Star Spangled Banner" rendition complete with tapping and wah-wah. I should play at the school at our next Flag Ceremony (we all do the "Pledge of Allegiance" and then talk about school events). I would beat the sh!t out of the (brass) band's version they did a few times back, which happens to be taught by my first guitar teacher, back when I was 9, until he got in a car accident.

Because I forgot a few names in the last friends list, here's the redone version.

15. Mother3GBA- Don't know the last time I talked to him was, but still very funny.

14. isud12- Blogs too rarely now, but always ppolite and writes good blogs.

13. hf- Haven't heard from him in a loooooooong time, but still a cool guy, and hp's best friend.

12. Hellmonkey- Fun to talk games with. I don't go to his blog a lot, but still fun to discuss Wii.

11. Sky- Writes thoughtful blogs, and hosts the prestigious Sky awards :P.

10. Al- Especially cool guy, fun to discuss just about anything with.

9. Dan- EXTAORDINARILY polite and calm, easy to have debates with.

8. Josh- The single nicestperson on the whole site. Would be higher, but hasn't been on for a while.

7. Indie- A better music critic than anybody workig for any company. I'll trust him with all that is music. Very nice and never rude.

6. Jacob-Probably the best new member on the site. Fun to talk about anything with, and he shares one of my idols (Billy Corgan).

5. hp- I love getting into fun arguments with this guy. Me poking fun at his obsession with Slash, poking back about my obsession with Pearl Jam, it's all fun.

4. Mark- Awesome SP fan (South Park and Smahing Pumpkins at the same time :P). Although I hat his idol, I try to avoid discussions, as Shadow also figured out :P.

3. Tweek- One of my first tv.com friends, fun to talk music with. Rarely blogs, but when he does, it keeps you entertained for a while.

2. Shadow- A constant friend, good debater. Reading his drunken/stoned ramblings are one of the best things oyu can do on this site :P.

1. Elmis- Once again: how can you not love a guy who writes "I need shoes to do this question.' on his math final? Also a great music critic. Shadow says he sometime epitomizes "an a$$hole fanboy," but also says, "but that's why I love him" (I think that's what he said), he couldn't be more spot on. Hilarious guy, great guitarist, intros me to a lot of music. Keep it up.

If you want to see my full comments on everybody, go to the last blog. I pretty much copied over Elmis' explanation, but everyone else's seemed shortened. Look at them.

Now, a new list.

THE 5 GREATEST GUITARISTS EVER (NO BIAS)

1. Jimi Hendrix

2. Eric Clapton (God)

3. Jimmy Page

4. Eddie Van Halen

5. Slash (this is the only biased part)

No pictures today, sorry.

I love weekends, I get to waste my time on this site, rock out, play volleyball, play games, and go to sleep at 2:00 listening to music and wake up at 12:00 noon. How sweet is that? You know how sweet it is, everybody loves weekends.

That was off-topic. We now continue this extraordinarily long blog.

I'm gonna wrap it up with a music review.

"LOVELESS" by My Bloody Valentine

Genre: Shoegazing (a form of rock)

I remember long long ago, when I first talked to Indie on a "Your Favorite Band" forum. He mentioned My Bloody Valentine as one of his favorites. I said I didn't like them because they were bad heavy metal in my opinion and too emo. Little did I realize I was thinking of the crappy metal-emo band Bullet For My Valentine, who I've always despised. Don't ask me how I remember this. If Indie remembers this, I won't feel like i have such a freakish memory).

Now that I know who the band is, I can easily say that saying that MBV is one of your favorite bands is justified. Brilliant music.

As you may know, "Loveless" cost embarassing amounts of money and took forever to finish due to Kevin Shield's perfectionism, but it was worth every penny for production. The sound is picture-perfect, absolute perfection. Absolutely 0 wrong with it.

The songs themselves show eery beauty, similar to The Smashing Pumpkins, to whom this album was a huge influence. The spiraling sounds shoot through your ears and tap into a deep part of your brain, triggering that spot than only great music can. It's just absolute perfection. Nothing less. You can't describe it any other way.

Standours: "Loomer', "Sometimes", "Only Shallow"

Score: 10/10

I'll review more later. See ya!

EXTRA EDIT:

I recently started playing the masterpiece Legend of Zelda: The Phantom HOurglass again. It's just as good as the first time. It's easily the best handheld game of all time, no arguments. Between LOZ: PH and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I've got enough to keep me busy unitl I get Mario Kart Wii. It comes out tomorrow, but I don't have enough spare money. I'll just blow the money I have on some CDs, and get the game for my birthday.

Extra EXTRA Edit:

I should blog less, I always have too much to talk about.

I found an awesome guitar tone that I may permanently switch to. I found it using my strat. I switched the treble all the way on on the guitar's switch. I turned the tone knob to 12 o'clock on the Big Muff, and use the "Cherub Rock" pre-set tones, but switch it from Insane Green to Clean Green. I get a perfect Pumpkins, Soundgarden, old-school Chilis, and heavy Radiohead sound. I was wondering if my strat just had better tone than my SG all along, but I switched back to my SG, flipped the switch to treble, and it sounded even better. I'm using my strat right now though, cause I still haven't restrung the SG. I'll do that later tonight.

I reseumed learning"My Iron Lung" and finished. My solo is even better then the original. I promise you. I also found a "The Star Spangled Banner" tone. All the same settings I had, but turn on the tape echo, and switch on the wah-wah, keeping it on the toe for most of the time. I also found out that turning the sustain down a little, and turning the tone knob to 3 o'clock gives me a great Pearl Jam tone. Awesome day for rocking out!

"But you're staring at me...

...like I'm, like I'm driving the nails" This a legendary grunge song worthy of God's listening (even if he would send the band to hell if he heard the lyrics :P), so you better get it.

I would like to celebrate a momentous occasion:

YOU HEROES (stealing Colbert's favorite word) HAVE OFFICIALLY GOTTEN MY LAST BLOG TO HAVE 25 POSTS!!! THAT'S A RECORD BY I BELIEV 8 POSTS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY GETS FREE ICE CREAM (Disclaimer: the ice cream isn't edible in case you were going to chew on your monitor)

Okay, we now return to our regularly scheduled blog.

I've officially wood burned practically every inch of my body. Why/ At volleyball oractice, we had to a drill that felt like murder. YOu stand with both your feet on the back line (30' line). The coach stands at the net, and throwsa ball about 5 feet in the air, right in fron of them. You have to run 30', scoop it up, and dive. I didn't wear any knee pads, today, so my legs are burned in five different places on each leg, not including the nasty huge one I got at our last tournament.

On a lighter subject:

ONLY 24 DAYS UNTIL MY BIRTHDAY!!!

I know I'm getting the Radiohead tickets as part of presents (well, one of the tickets), and probably Mario Kart Wii, but not sure what else. Maybe a bunch of CDs and some money. I know one thing I am definitely buyin with birthday money:

Know what that isa Rocktron Banshee talk box. Isn't she a beauty. I've been a long time talk box lover (love when Jerry Cantrell uses it, love me some Frampton talk-boxing), and have decided a need one. Why? Simple, you can make a guitar talk with it. That's it. That, and you can get a perfect wah-wah sound using it, without complicating the use of the pedal. I need it.

I've been inspired by Shadow to do a top friends list, so here we go.

10. jacobp76 (AKA Jacob)- Sorry Jacob, you would've been quite a bit higher but I spaced and forgot about you until the end of the list and had to just add oyu in at the end (i'm too lazy to change all the numbers). There is one extreme standout about Jacob: he blogs a lot, so I'm constantly distracted form homework (that's a good thing). He comments on almost all of my blogs, and I comment all of his. Great semi-new member.

9. Skyancez (AKA Sky)- Very thoughtful and kind. He put me on his top 5 friends list, so I gotta shout back to him. I miss the Sky awards (which I won a few times :)), but his blogs are still fun.

8. NYBrian- He argues about him actually being like this (the first two), but he is kind, not hostile, and intelligent. He is easy to have a discussion with without creating a flame war.

7. nineone14peace (AKA Josh)- He's been knocked form a higher position because he hasn't been on much lately, but still the kindest person on this whole site. Always leaves polite comments, and if he doesn't like something in a blog, reminds himself that everyone has an opinion. Get back on here, and then keep up the good work.

6. alp81 (AKA Al)- He always writes extremely entertaining blogs, fun to read and to comment on. He always leaves thoughtful comments that relate completely to the blog, and tries to avoid arguments. Need I say more?

5. heylin_prince (AKA hp)- One of the most fun people to argue with in the world. We always end up poking fun at each other's obsessions and biases. Also, he is good at avoiding bias to the best extent when making a greatest ever list.

4. RoboAmish (AKA Mark)- Although he (or possibly she as a recent Sky blog recently considered, not sure if it was a joke :P), it (?) always comments on my blog, and replies back and forth every time I respond, which is nice for a conversation.

3. TweekFan (AKA Ryan)- What many of you may not know is that Tweek was actually one of the first good friends I had on this site. Long, long ago (in a galaxy far far away :P), when I first joined the site, he was one of my friends in the first month. He took a break for the Summer, but them came back full throttle. His only flaw is that he hasn't blogged for over a month and rarely blogged before that, although he keeps promising us one. Still, a great editor and a great (cyber) friend.

2. 6dark6shadows6 (AKA/usually called, Shadow)- Also, the most fun person to argue with ever. Definitely a good debater, which is why he usually gets the last word in arguments, and writes blogs that keep you ntertained for a while, and makes me rack my brain with lyric guessers. He said I was his most constant friend, and I have to say that back. I don't think I've missed a blog form him (maybe one or two) in omnths, and I don't think he's missed any of mine either.

AND THE NO.1 IS...

1. ElmisOriginal (AKA Elmis)- Also Shadow's no.1. Elmis, I think we all agree, you're one of the most liked members on the site. You can hardly read a blog from this guy without cracking up and sh!tting your pants (metaphorically of course). In Shadow's words, he sometimes comeoff as an a$$hole fanboy (something I also seem to do in real life), but that's the best part! Also a good arguer (if you haven't figured it out, I love to argue). I have Elmis to thank for countless bands he has introduced me too (Pearl Jam, Radiohead. Mudhoney, Soundgarden, etc., yes, he got me into all of those and more). School has cut off the number of blogs he makes, but he's still the most entertaining person on the site. On top of that, damn good guitarist, makes great covers and original songs on MySpace. Great music critic. And one last thing: how can you not love (in a friendly way for anyone immature) a guy who writes "I need shoes to do this question" on his Math final? Keep it up!

Whoops, I forgot one person:

THE TEMPORARILY FORGOTTEN SECTION:

InideShotYou (AKA Indie)- Sorry Indie, did the same thing I did to Jacob and forgot about you, but there was no more room. You are the greatest indie music geek ever to live. I have Indie to thank for loving The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine (thank Indie/Elmis), and most other indie bands I like. Also a brilliant music critic, who I trust more than any magazine's critic.

And for a lifetime achievement award: Sharky. I'm not gonna whine about him again, as he's probably introducing Kurt Cobain to Family Guy up there, but just thought I'd throw him in there.

If you think I forgot about you, tell me so I can throw you in the "temporarily forgotten section" with Indie.

I hope all of you are happy to be on the list, and if you're not there, but often comment on my blog and I comment on yours, it was probably a mistake.

Here's an awesome video. It's not music, but it's awesome(ly funny).

2/3 grunge, that's a nice bunch of videos :P.

Now, I have to read 110 pages of a book for schoool....all tonight.

"I've no idea...

...what I am talking about"

I've been tagged three times this year, so I figured I'd juust do it and have it done with. So it's not a waste of time, I'll post ten things.

1. My five favorite bands are Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, and Red Hot Chili Peppers (they're dropping soon, I can sense it)

2. My two favorite movies of all time are "Star Wars", and "No Country For Old Men."

3, I've played club volleyball for three years and could knock you over with a spike, which I've almost done in the middle of a game. My club team is currently ranked 5th out of 45 teams that have played in Southern California. For our next tournament, we're seeded 3rd (3rd most likely to win).

4. A secret talent I have: I can count cards (so don't try playing blackjack with me) .

5. I've played guitar for about 4 1/2 years.

6. My five favorite video games ever are Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I need to go back and beat it), Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and Sonic Adventure (the original platformer).

7. My favorite song of all time is "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog, followed by "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead, although "Karma Police" is threatening to knock "FPT" out of the favorite Radiohead song spot.

8. My all-time favorite albums are "Vs." by Pearl Jam, "Siamese Dream" by The Smashing Pumpkins, "OK Computer" by Radiohead, "Badmotorfinger" by Soundgarden, and "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

9. I'm typically a 4.0 student, except this year, in which Algebra 1/2 Honors has knocked my average back (I got a B the first trimester and C+ the scond trimester), partially due to having the hardest teacher on Earth.

9. My favorite TV show is South Park. I've seen all 173 episodes of South Park, including every short, and the extended version of the first episode.

10. And one more for people on Gamespot: my main in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is Toon Link.

Now I tag: jabocp76, ElmisOriginal, and NYBrian120

Since as far as I can tell, nobody watched any of the videos I spent so long typing out, here they are again.

I searched for one live video of each song I put on my dream Radiohead setlist, in order. You better watch a couple of them because I had to type out each hyperlink because Firefox doesn't allow copy and paste. So why don't I just not use Firefox? Because if I use IE, I get viruses and popups so stop b!tching and watch.

"And all I ever taught her...

was everything" Classic '90s song. I expect a few people to know this. At LEAST a few.

My Radiohead tickets order was confirmed. I'm gonna contact the seller though because it said he would ship them on August 21st and I would get them on the day of the concert which sounds a little risky. I'll try and see if they can send it sooner. I am NOT risking missing the concert for that.

I have a big volleyball tournament over the weekend. There are 41 teams and my team is seeded #3 so the pressure's on to do well. In my team's pool, we have the 2nd seed, 3rd seed (us), 6th seed (they're very good too, but we can beat them easily), and the 7th seed (who sucks, last time we played them, we beat them 25-11 and 25-8). Well they don't really suck, we're just too good. We lost in the semifinals of the tournament, going out with a bad game, in the last tournament so we're hoping to take it a step further.

M y friend and I just finished watching Juno, which was the fourth time for me, and first time for him. He loved it, and I loved even more than usual. It's such a great movie. After the movie, we played Super Smash Bros. Brawl for an hour or so. I kicked his a$$. He won once from me accidentally killing myself, and once from an unbelievable bullsh!t coincidence which I'll explain later, and I won seven or eight times, all legitimately. Okay, onto the stupid coincidence. We were playing on my favorite stage. It was Sudden Death because the catapult on the stage killed me and I killed him once. We took too long to attack and bombs atrted falling. I ran up and killed him, which at first seemed like I definitely won. Unfortunately for me, the way his character was dying was where they spin off in the distance, which takes a few seconds. The bombs were still falling, and one hit me and killed me before him. Even he admitted that was cheap and he considered it my win. We laughed damn hard though.

Enough video game crap, onto some music stuff. I've been continuing to go heavy on Radiohead, but being careful not to overlisten to them. Instead of 100% Radiohead, I've been tossing in a lot of Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, old Chilis here and there, and a lot of stuff like The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, Dinpsaur Jr., you know, the indie stuff I got recently. Radiohead still remains up front in listening priority though, and I'm wondering if I'll even enjoy the Summer with th anxiety of waiting for the show.

At school, for some reason California standards require that we have a fukcing dance unit in P.E., which always sucks balls. I'm trying to find songs that a group can do a lame routine to, but the song will rock so hard it won't be as lame. I've got a few ideas.

"Crossroads" by Cream

"Man in the Box" by AiC (I'd need to do some audio editing for censorship, but worth it)

"Electioneering" by Radiohead

"Spoonman" by Soundgarden (sounds impossible to pull off, but I can actually think of an entire routine in my head)

"Rearviewmirror" by Pearl Jam (same thing as above)

"Lithium" by Nirvana

"Organic Anti-Beat Box Band" by RHCP

"She Builds Quick Machines" by Velvet Revolver

This isn't like a partner dance thing, but more like creating a dance along to a song. Any suggestions would be helpful. I only can use songs that are only about minutes or less.
