My Top Ten Games #3

Oh. While I'm blogging, I'm just going to say that I figured out how to make camera angles in Guild Wars now. So now I've got a hankerin' to make some Machinima in it!!! lol I always do this when I get a new game! Curse you, Machinima hobby!! :x

Now back to my favorite games countdown!

We're getting right down to the wire here!! I'm almost done counting down my favorite games of all time! Well, here's my number three pick.

This game was probably a lot of peoples' #1 pick about two years ago. It was a pretty huge release back then. It was like the Modern Warfare 2 of 2007. It's still played A LOT. It still practically dominates Xbox LIVE. You might have already guessed what game I'm talking about.... If you haven't yet,

It's Halo 3/ODST. I'm counting them together since ODST is an add-on.

The stunning conclusion to the trilogy left us wondering how John was going to get out of this situation and wanting more! The multiplayer kept us playing and kept us trash talking that idiot with the rockets. Custom Games was improved highly with all your online friends, and Forge lets you mess with maps to make them exactly how you like it.

It was my first Xbox360 game, the game I got my first Achievement from (Fear of the Pink Mist), and the first game I played online EVER on any system (other than Runescape lol).

That's why it's my number three pick.

My Top Ten Games #4

I'm back with a quick entry about my fourth favorite game of all time. Most of this is your guys' number one choice, or at least number one for 2009. Well here it is.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

IMO, the best CoD game. Explosive campaign, immersive and addictive online multiplayer, and the new spec ops mode brings new fun into the CoD franchise. That's why it's number four on my countdown.

Guild Wars

I just bought Guild Wars last night. It took a while to download off of Steam. I stayed up till it was done downloading, since it was Thursday night and school was already cancelled for snow the next day. So I ended up staying up till about eleven... Like I said, it wasn't a school night. After it was done downloading, I went to bed. I just set up my account and all and I've been playing for about an hour.

I have to say, this game is freaking great.... I mean, really.

I got it for only $20. Since it's from Steam and its straight-to-desktop, there was no waiting or paying for shipping/handling.

Bargain!!

I'm sure it's not as good as WoW or anything, but there's no monthly fee, so I thought it was a good deal. You just buy the disc and get unlimited online play FOREVER with no extra subscription fees. Of course, you can use IRL money to buy things for your character, but I doubt I'll get into that.

I wanted to play an MMO, but I didn't want to commit to a monthly fee.

This is perfect for me.

My Top Ten Games #5

Last entry, you saw my sixth favorite game of all time: Killzone 2. So here's my 5th favorite game.

This is probably a pretty unexpected title... It's not too old, but not new. It's my favorite game in a franchise. The franchise lately had an epic fail game and this game proves that its classics are the best. IMO, the series went downhill after this title. But it remains my favorite in the franchise, and my fifth favorite game of all time.

This game is Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

I think it brought new things to a franchise that was growing old. Most of the other Tony Hawk games were the same old thing, but this one brought innovations to the franchise. Sadly, they couldn't keep it up later. Most of the other Tony Hawk games after American Wasteland were bad, and not to mention Tony Hawk Ride (the epic fail I mentioned earlier).

Like I said, you guys probably weren't expecting this game to be in my list, but I loved it when it came out. Enough to where it made it to my list.

Stay tuned for #4!

My Top Ten Games #6

First of all I'm going to say that this is continuing up from a little "series" I did in my blog where I was listing my top ten favorite games of all time. Not just of 2009 and not just this decade. My overall favorite games.

I'm going to recap with the ones that I've covered so far.

#7 - GTA IV

#8 - Brutal Legend

#9 - Fallout 1

#10 - Paper Mario (Original)

So let's begin. This is my 6th favorite game of all time.

I'd like to welcome you to KillZone 2! Yes! Superb FPS online multiplayer, explosive Campaign, and unique control and cover system, makes KillZone 2 my #6 game!

It greatly improved upon the original and can stand alone perfectly.

There you have it.

My TV Wishes Have Come True!

Some of you that have been tracking my blog for a while now know that I really just plain hate Seth McFarlane. I like Family Guy and such, but I don't like that he owns the Sunday Night Lineup (Animation Domination) with 3/4 of the shows. And then he goes and does big cash-ins like that deal with Microsoft for those Windows 7 commercials. I think he's greedy and selfish. And I was a fan of the old show on FOX, King of the Hilljust because it was different than other shows. It wasn't just constant sex jokes and celebrity mocking. The jokes were well-written and the plots were different in each episode. I really didn't like it when it was cancelled... Plus, it was replaced by The Cleveland Show, a McFarlane production. I was always saying Seth McFarlane had enough money with all his shows and Mike Judge (creator of King of the Hill) hadn't had much big work since Beavis and Butt-Head.

Well, last night a new show premiered called The Goode Family. It's made by Mike Judge. It's about a family that's always trying to be politically correct. The father is eco-friendly and such. The mother is very self-loving. they have an adopted son who is more brawn than brains. And they have a daughter who is a stereotypical teenage girl. I love how it's similar to King of the Hill. I still like King of the Hill better, but it'll do. I'm just glad to see Mike Judge getting work.

And also, I just saw a commercial for a great show coming back on the air. Have you ever seen Important Things With Demetri Martin? It's a Comedy Central show about random things in the world hosted by Demetri Martin. Again, I like it because it's different. I like Demetri Martin's brand of comedy, and how it's random, also not 100% sex jokes/celebrity mocking. I thought it was cancelled, since new episodes weren't coming for several months and it hadn't really had enough episodes for a whole season. Well it looks like it's coming back in February! Don't really know what made them decide to cancel it (or if that's even what happened) but it's back! I can't wait to see it when it comes back!!

So TV's getting really great for me.

And also, my next entry should be for my Top Ten Games series.

It'll Be Back Soon!

A long time ago, I had something in my blog about my top ten favorite games. About mid-way through I realized I should wait until 2010 to complete it, since all the huge games were coming and I wanted to play them before I completed it.

Well I'm going to make the next entry sometime soon. So look for it!

GMod and TF2

A long long time ago I rented The Orange Box on my Xbox (which isn't orange lol). That was before I had XbL, and therefore couldn't ever play Team Fortress 2, since it's online only.

Well I am currently downloading GMod (Garry's Mod) and Team Fortress 2 on Steam right now!

GMod is mainly for Machinima and stuff. And Team Fortress 2 is mainly for fun! Plus, you need at least one Source game to use GMod properly, and there was a package for both of them for $20.

I found it as a good deal!

Can't wait to play them!

Also, super dumb question, but what exactly is a Dedicated Server and what does it do?

I found a Dedicated Server download from Steam for TF2 and I'm wondering what it will do.

Step One Complete!

Phew! I was getting worried!

Yesterday my laptop finally came from Dell! And this one isn't screwy like the first one they sent! I know have an actual PC!!

So one of the first things I was wanting to do was test out the Capture Card that I got about a week ago, since I needed my laptop to do it. I installed everything and all that. Plugged it in to my Xbox and computer.

It was recording in Black and White.... I thought WTF!!!??? I kept trying to find out the problem, and I had figured that I needed to get a set of AV cables for my Xbox that was a full set of 5, since the ones I have now are the basic three (white, yellow, and red).

Then my dad noticed something totally obvious that made me feel really dumb... There's a set of plugs for the normal basic three AV cables on the front of my Capture Card... So we plugged it in via those and it worked.... I still can't believe I didn't think of that!!! lol

So then I was finally recording in full color, and I set it upto record a saved Halo 3 film of mine that is about six minutes long. So after it was done recording, I watched it on my computer. It turned out fine. Great quality, full color. I decided to upload it to Youtube for the heck of it. It uploaded fine, but when I went to watch it, it was all screwy and pixelated and stuff. It freaked me out!

So I thought "Well, the file is in MP4 format. I usually upload in WMV. I'll convert it and try again."

So I converted it to a WMV file and then tried to upload it again. It said that it failed to upload my file... I couldn't watch it at all....

But I got a thought... WHAT IF.. Youtube is maybe having trouble taking larger files? I'll make it really short and then try. So I edited it and made it a lot shorter. It's only about thirty seconds now. Then I tried to upload. Worked just fine.

I had to do that once before, cut down a video because Youtube wouldn't take larger files (even though it was only about six minutes long).

So everything's working now. :D

So now I have a functioning Capture Card... It's an HD PVR.. YOU HEARD ME!!! HD!!!!

My next step is to buy Sony Vegas (it's video editing software) so that I may truly start making Machinima and start my planned upcoming series. Can't wait! I might order it on Amazon tonight.

So, step one for getting this full Machinima train going complete! Soon.... WORLD DOMINATION!!!!!!!!!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!

O.o

Also, if you wanna see the test video for my PVR, click here. Then just find it. It should be the featured video. Or at least very obviously labeled.

Uncharted 2, tFoR, Laptop

So I took a break from MWII (btw, I'm level 19 or 20 now... Forget) and decided to play Uncharted 2. Gotta say it's great! I'm really loving this game! It's at least something different... It's like if Assassin's Creed met Indiana Jones.

The story is nice, gameplay is definitely fluent and fun. The multiplayer is alright... Nothing too special. But not too bad. I was expecting this to be one of those games with a bigger campaign than multiplayer.

Also, I reached page 100 last night of The Fall of Reach. It is a great book! If you're a fan of the Halo series, I definitely recommend it! Though if you don't play Halo, some of the stuff might be a bit hard to understand... But now I can't wait for Halo: Reach!! If it's as good as the book, I'll be blown away!

My fixed laptop will hopefully today... Or tomorrow.. Maybe Monday. If it doesn't come, I won't be disappointed. I've got plenty to keep me busy!

But since I already have my Capture Card, when I get my laptop, I'll want to test it out on it soon. I'll throw a test video on Youtube, aaand viola!!
