@cynical_howard: Vanilla Fallout 4 is going to be like a blank canvas. All it's lacking is community impact. That will give it personality.

There must be some modders on NMA...

Why don't NMA and/or Obsidian crowd fund so they can write their own additional content? Give the writers and coders at Bethesda some healthy competition?

Crowd funding is transparent. You know what the finance targets are; you get rewards for investing early; you can see exactly how much money's in the budget.

What do you get for your "Season Pass" from Bethesda? A potentially empty promise?

Let people put complete trust in Bethesda with their "Season Pass" if they want, but then again, why not add an element of doubt. With mods, isn't Fallout 4 basically out of Bethesda's hands, and more like an open source program?

@NTenseify: Yeah I know. Not gonna argue with you.

If I just look at the stuff in the bundle for $66.75, and compare it with the Steam price of $59.99 just for the game (which doesn't even include the cost of downloading the game) then I'm at least getting - how should I put it - less ripped off than I could have been?

You're going to be playing the waiting game, right? Getting the GOTY, beta tested, and with all the DLCs for... I don't know, what do you think the ballpark figure is going to be when that's released?

In that case, your logic is indisputable. You're the one getting value for money.

Capisce?

No worries m8. GG.

Maybe you like Fallout 4 cos it's got FPS elements to it. Maybe you post comments like you like to game - BOOM... Headshot. Won the "argument" in as few posts as possible.

That's cool Broseph. I think you are a complete and utter genius ...

It didn't even turn into an argument in the first place - You know what they say about opinions on here, right? How do I respond to something like this on my last potentially boring monologue:

"I read all of that and still don't see what point you're trying to make, if any :-P"

You never said it, but you could have added "Drops the Mic" after of the smiley face.

Not long after you posted that comment, I got a PM from a mod telling me that I'd been flagged for talking too much. I mean, if this was a conversation I'd at least pause and take a breath.

Sorry peeps. Noob mistake. I mean, if I'm going to spoil the flow of conversation, I should at least use a spoiler block.

What's your favourite Mortal Kombat character?

"NTenseify WINS! FLAWLESS VICTORY..."

BABALITY...

Crawls away trailing salty tears... TT

Something doesn't seem quite right here.

I pre ordered this bundle for $66.75 USD

(The price on the page is in New Zealand dollars.)

"Includes Game, Coffee Table book, Vault Boy Pop! Vinyl and Fallout 4 PERK Poster!"

I see that on Steam, the price for just the base game is US$59.99

Now I hear that in other countries, you can only get the poster if you get the Pip Boy Edition?

I'm at least getting decent "value for money" (fixt) over here for my pre order, but I kind of took it for granted that a similar deal would be available overseas too...

I am Disappoint...

@sdecker425: I hope you've got skills. Hopefully you'll be able to make some game assets, for the rest of us gamers to enjoy if the HoloLens has mainstream success. Having a virtual model in front of you that you can actually walk around and see from every angle sounds like a definite improvement.

I think I remember seeing a dude working on a motorbike in AR or something in a previous demo.

Courtesy link to the MS Hololens channel on YouTube...

I mean, if you can make an actual scale model using your CAD program, you should be able to import it directly into a game. I think devs will be looking for people like you in future, if they start making exclusive content for the HoloLens.

No reason why you couldn't use the HoloLens to design content for VR devices as well. Double your potential market.

How about we add a 3D scanner for a technology mashup?

I see you've got a car for a profile pic. If I was a dev that wanted to make a driving game, for example, I could probably take that same car IRL and make a 3D scan of it. I've heard that the models created by 3D scanners still look a bit "janky" nowadays and need retouching in CAD to look decent.

What kinds of projects have you worked on?

I want them to make a Judge Dredd game.

Wearing the headset would feel like this...

If I were the dude demoing the game I would at least have done a 360 no scope for the hardcore gamers watching it LOL...

Sorry, I haven't really got a yes or no opinion on whether this is good or not.

Will I buy it if I believe the best of what all of you optimists out there have to say, and this headset is going to be the gamer religion's equivalent of the second coming?

Hell yeah; but if it turns out to be the Antichrist, I want to be able to yell out...

"Kill it with fire..."

With all of you pessimists.

Would post a picture of a glass of water at 50% capacity if I could.

Got more to say, but if you just wanna get on with the debate...

"Carry on young Padawans... These are not the words you're looking for..."

Who am I to know yet? I've just read about it. Eddie's probably tried it on, knows everything there is to know about both this product and the Project Morpheus.

He's written an article about the Project Morpheus btw:

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-to-vr-skeptics-ps4-headset-project-morpheus-i/1100-6421022/

Eddie, I'd like to know your opinion. You're Gamespot Staff, but you're a gamer like the rest of us, right?

Do you have a blog on Gamespot? I've got an idea - maybe sit down with Jess McDonnell? Tell us what the general Gist of things is from your informed perspective?

Jess is underused, anyway. (Sorry if you don't like the accent, but I'm from New Zealand.)

WWED? What would you spend your money on, and how long would you wait to do it?

I mean, don't write it above that magic line that separates your own neutral statement of fact from the comment section. You're not paid to tell people what to think- I know GameSpot itself doesn't think that we're all Sheeple...

All I'm saying is, could you at least tell us what you think?

I don't know if you could embed videos into blog posts when you wrote yours, so I found the video that you're referencing in your initial paragraph.

http://www.gamespot.com/videos/the-point-will-fallout-4-be-at-e3/2300-6418506/

Here's another quote I got from the video, which I will focus on. Danny refers to the Fallout 3 experience as "Making friends and making corpses."

I actually agree with Danny on this one. Then again, I think your opinion is actually equally valid. In food terms, I think the game's like a degustation meal... A series of rich and complex courses in the spirit of your post, with a palate cleanser (journeying through the wasteland) between each one.

I'll start with a vignette of my own to illustrate my point. I can't show you a video of the actual game play moment, but it's not so much what I saw that was important; it's the extra layer of meaning my imagination added to it. Picture this:

In a derelict camp ground in the Capital Wasteland, a small group of people are gathered around the remains of an old camp fire. They're exhausted from a long day's trek, and have stopped for some much needed rest.

It looks like they are having a conversation. Are they arguing? Are they swapping stories? Perhaps they're talking about what they'll do when they find that "big score" that they justknow is out there, waiting for them...

The sad fact about it is, that this group doesn't have a story in the game.

Had they known I was watching them, they would have attacked me. Take away the added element of my own imagination, and this was in truth just a group of Raiders, standing around a camp fire and going through their idle animations.

I was actually watching them through the scope of my Gauss rifle. If anything, my imagination distracted me for a moment from what I knew was the duty at hand - just aim, and shoot. Which I did, until I'd made them all into the corpses I knew they were destined to be.

I knew it was the right thing to do, because my HUD told me it was right. They showed up as red blips, so even from my distant vantage point I knew they deserved to die.

"Justice" served, wasteland style.

So in my opinion, in Fallout 3 there are two main types of people. Fully fleshed characters (green) - friends waiting to be made; and two dimensional enemies (red) - who are in fact just corpses in the making.

Don't worry sir, not about to burst a blood vessel through stress any time soon.

Oh yeah, would totally have just gone for a walk if I'd actually been able to at the time by the way...

OP's being generally negative in the rest of his posts on this topic. Reading the quoted description of events in his post, perhaps he was using that as an example of why he saw the rest of the game in a bad light?

Maybe he's posting his quote, with someone's first impressions from watching the same video I gave a link to in my response?

My imagination was running wild beforehand - I've been trying to avoid as many spoilers as I can, looking forwards to when the game comes out in a month; playing some Fallout 3 and New Vegas so I'll get a better appreciation of what's been improved on from the last games, and what's actually brand new.

In all honesty, I was initially annoyed at the guy because he might have been posting a spoiler. Do I call him out on it? Great if you want to start YET ANOTHER pointless argument in this forum.

Or do I get things out of my head, try to do contribute something constructive, and move on with my life?

I mean, sure I was disappointed to read about the "(unavoidable) scripted death claw attack" and apparent lack of choice IF that was an actual spoiler.

I pointed out why, assuming cynical_howard had used the quote as a negative example, why I could understand his reason for choosing it.

I actually did say in my reply that I was "hoping" the general impression was wrong, and that there would be multiple ways to handle that same situation.

For example, there's really no reason why I still can't imagine myself killing the Deathclaw in the way I described killing it. Who knows?

That's actually a good thing, right?

I'm genuinely sorry if I'm making you feel different about your purchasing decision. It was never my intention to stop you from pre ordering the game if you haven't already.

Having more questions than answers could actually be kind of a good thing, from a certain point of view.

I've pre ordered the game myself. Hell, I wouldn't even rule out paying for the DLC Season Pass, if Bethesda could make sure I'm helping out their project in the way I'd like to believe any additional money is going to be spent.

I went into so much detail in my post because I care about the game. I guess reading/watching someone who's actually been paid to voice his opinions, is a little less confronting than having some random commenter doing it out of some unknown personal agenda.

Was my post critical in tone? Yes, but it was an attempt at constructive criticism.

I'll be able to give you some concrete information in a month hopefully... :)
