@vi_et_armis @richardfitzinya Cleary it's not GOTY according to Gamespot, and thats the website you're reading.

As quite a few other people have said, this has not been a groundbreaking year for games collectively, and thats pretty much a fact. GOTY on any given website or publication is going to be a toss up this year. That said, The Last of Us is obviously you're GOTY based on how passionate you are about someone else thinking otherwise, and thats cool, but just because The Last of Us blew you away doesn't mean it did the same for everyone else who played it.

For example: I "personally" thought it was a decent game at best that rested too comfortably on it's high production values, which incidentally I; (again personally) found to be pretty generic and stereotypical as far as aesthetics and concepts go

See how that works?

Outstanding. I'll personally consider this the real Final Fantasy 13 in place of the on-rails cut scene buffet that I found the actual product to be. Really looking forward to this game.

For all intents and purposes, I find that Memories of Celceta is a more refined and satisfying Ys 7.

The combat mechanics are very similar, as is the acquisition of items and loot. The emphasis on exploration, and the large maps are a big plus, as most Ys games are generally really linear experiences.

Good review, but I disagree about the graphics though. I think they look rather nice.

Thanks for mentioning The King's Field series. Few are aware that the very similar Souls games are born from the same bleak and dreary dungeons that From first put out as KF.

@Halloll Yeah. I read about the concept before and immediately thought of that game. Given how obscure that game was, chances are the devs for this didn't even know it existed. "WE GOT THIS COOOL IDEA WHERE YOU CONTROL YOUR SHADOW!!!" Done already.

Been have a good amount of fun with this game especially for the price. The review is right in saying that the game doesn't really break any molds, but it has an amusing sense of humor with the whole survival guide concept, and even though it's by the numbers, the primitive crafting and combining is neat.

I actually think the game would have been more interesting conceptually without the zombies. Maybe just crazy dudes on an island, or something like the film "No Escape".

I've paid $15 for a good film on DVD, so $15 for an interactive experience I could enjoy and be done with in a few hours sounds reasonable to me.

I was interested in Watch Dogs, but I'm more interested in Knack and Dead Rising.

While I think a 4 is a bit harsh, I personally agree with a lot of the opinions expressed here. While aesthetically and conceptually interesting, I found Infinite to be little more than a narrated museum tour through Levine's dystopian setting with by the numbers FPS gameplay tacked in to make it constitute as an action game. It's in my honest opinion that Bioshock collectively would have made for a better book, comic, or animated film series. Again, besides the interesting Art Deco design, and creative concepts, what did Bioshock do as a game that Half Life 2 didn't?

I'm not by no means begrudging anyone who enjoys any game for any reason, this is just my personal feelings towards Infinite, and the series in general. It's in those respects that I can wrap my head around a lot of whats been mentioned in this review.

This can easily be great provided Obsidian can get their sh!t together and not botch it up. Been interested in this one awhile myself, and I have high hopes.
