@Tychobrahi @Khasym I kind of feel the same way to be honest. Every time I play something associated with Gearbox other than Borderlands, it sucks out loud. And evrey time I get the feeling that I'm suppose to dismiss this because "UHHH WE MADE BORDERLANDS!!!!!"

@ChiefFreeman @Tychobrahi I've been saying the same thing about the Silent Hill series since the first game, and yet I still bought the next 3 games in the series. All with stiff, clunky gameplay, and all enjoyable. Sometimes the atheistic and concept outweighs evreything else. At least in my opinion.

@Zacmaccraken First, art is subjective dude. The artwork is indeed minimalistic and lacking detail, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work with the game. The art in Castle Crashers is very much the same, but perhaps you feel the same way about that, I dunno. Maybe you can get your rocks off with Dragon's Crown then. Pretty much the same kind of game.

It's an obvious comparison since both games are beat em' ups about bands, but am finding myself liking the gameplay more in this game than the Scott Pilgrim game. Getting better equips ala Diablo style adds a lot to it.

I was more impressed with the traditional animation in Scott Pilgrim, but like a few others mentioned, the flash work is really well done, and the sloppy minimalistic art style really works with the punk rock/demons from hell concept.

Soundtrack is pretty rad as well.

@Chaos_Dante_456 It's from the same people that made the Dishwasher games.

Spelunky is the only one of the countless indie platformers I was able to get into. Great review, but I would have liked to see the game get a medal for it's soundtrack. The music is unbelievably awesome.

@alim298 @DinoBuster I can appreciate that you liked LoS, and while I'm not specifically an SoTN fanboy, I can't argue that I am a Castlevania fanboy, and personally I found LoS to be extremely disappointing.

I'm all for innovation and experimentation in established series, this is how we get our Metroid Primes and our Megaman Legends. That said, LoS was completely devoid of ANYTHING that made Castlevania what it's been known for. Playing it is like watching a dude who does nothing but follow sports reinterpret Shakespeare.

Again, I'm not saying you or anyone else is "wrong" for liking LoS, but what I am saying is that LoS is a by the numbers action game with an aesthetically by the numbers presentation.

As a current gen entry in a series that is known for its rich gothic overtones, haunting music, and interesting character design, I, (again, my personal opinion) thought it sucked across the board. And because I've come to this conclusion with LoS and the 3DS game this dev has put out, I would bet good money that I'll think the same about whatever it is that they cannibalize Contra into.

"You have to have the things that made that game great, like Castlevania, you need to have that, but you have to not be afraid to do something new."

Right...except the only element of what made Castlevania "Castlevania" in you're utter bastardization of the series is the name Castlevania in the title. I'm actually happy that Castlevania is going into limbo rather than these toolboxes cranking out more current gen action game drivel under the franchise's banner.

Can't wait to not play the soulless Gears of Duty phone in they put together for Contra.

@SciFiCat Definitely true. As evident by a few of his past games, the perceivable "lewdness" is something Kamitani chooses to do as an artist. I'm not a fan of some of the ways he chooses to execute things either, especially the bizarre proportions, but he's first class at what he does, and deserves a "Keppin it Real" badge. Overall I think I'm more pissed that Princess Crown never made it out of Japan.

@Wattsburg0 @Enundr @DinoBuster Yeah, Definace was a lot of fun except for the server connection issues. I was surprised.
