day o' meetings

From 1 until now I have had meetings.

Now I get to go to another one. .  at Starbucks. Icky coffee. . .

:-P

Papers to write, jobs to interview for. . . what's a guy to do. next week is the next interview.

Hola Amigos

So with the demise of all chances of getting the Internet at home, I have lent myself to the clutches of the Library. I shudder to think what fingers have depressed the same keys as I am now using. Yes, yes, one of those obsessive compulsive traits I inherited from my mother.

The good news is I am once more checking out a bunch of stuff from the city's repository of information when i should really be at home cramming more information into my cranium in preparation for my impending tests. Every week we meet is another pair of tests to be endured.

My wife was so excited to commence her reading of the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy she is patiently digesting the first chapter as I post this entry.

Now, for the reason I came. I played Kameo: Elements of Power and Call of Duty on the XBOX 360. Normally I have nothing nice to say to WalMart, but today I will make an exception. I braved the throngs of daily attendees to get my hands on the next generation of at-home simulations.

Impressive, but not as detailed as I had imagined. That is the way it goes. Invariably there were some boys coming to look at the hardware. Upon seeing the line to play the X360, one commented with a measure of disdain, "What?!? No Playstation 3?"

Sorry kid, evidently you don't keep up with the news. Not until next year. And if you also had contacts in nVidia, you'd have known better.

Time to go home and wash my hands.

Report

Let's leave it at. . . it was okay.

Speaking of being upstaged, My buddy who was supposed to have his baby November 28. . . had it last night. Bah!

My wife keeps telling baby to hurry up. It doesn't seem like baby is listening. Probably won't be any different. . .ever.

First Interview

Done.

I received high marks, and have been advanced to the hiring manager. Tomorrow I have my interview with the hiring manager.

Hopefully I can report positively. Until I know for sure. . . I don't think I will post.

Telephone interview

I have a telephone interview with a certain game-related company at 4pm. I don't think I've felt so nervous in a long time.

*shudder*

No Internet but the kind you net

Well, it seems SBC is losing a customer it never had. We are not going to get their special year-long discount, since we have to already have a land line. Too bad for them we don't.

;-P

We are better off for it. However, I will always wonder what it would have been like. . .

And in other news, a certain game-related company has contacted me for interviews. I would be conservative if I said a was a little excited. Truth be told: I am VERY excited! Let's see if I get said job.

Rick Moranis v. Tennessee

Rick Moranis has released a Country Music album.

His conversion is detailed  here:

I can't believe Lord Dark Helmet is twanging. The scariest part is it doesn't sound bad. He wrote all of his own songs, and sings them too. When he was in Little Shop of Horrors he played his type-cast role. However, he did all the singing, even on the official soundtrack album which was commercially released.

Multi-tasking versus life-hacking

So, I just wrote a review for Rush 'n Attack in the middle of my Accounting course on Direct vs. Indirect Cash Flows. Who would have thought.

The study session before class was identical to the discussion during class. Only two more hours to go until dinner. . . Mmmmm, catered dinner.

I really have the food corner covered with my work, school, and wife. . . I mean life.

;-)

Work provides breakfast and lunch. School provides dinner on Fridays, with both breakfast and lunch being served on Saturdays. So, I don't think it is too much to ask for my wife to cook dinner for me.

Best-laid Plans

There has been a delay of game for DSL. Perhaps in November. Good thing that is only a few days away.

Two tests this weekend in school. I'm stressing, and my usual methods of relief aren't available/working. Usually it is spending time with my wife and playing games (those are separate since my wife does not like games). I need to go study.

Ugh. What will I do when we get the Internet in our house?

Online again?!?

Life is about to change. . .again. No, not because the baby is coming. . .well because the baby is coming AND because I have talked my wife into getting DSL. Actually she talked me into it. I was completely content saving money by not getting a land line and DSL, but she did it.

Now comes the test as to whether or not I can withstand the draw of online gaming. . .or *GASP* XBox Live. Even now the fell unembodied spirits are whispering Live into my ears. . . After all, what is $16/month on top of the $30/month for DSL and Telephone?

Perhaps I could WoW. . . hmmmm. . .
