Phat Beats

So, I found myself trolling around the internet the other day when I came accross a thoroughly amusing movie:

http://www.atomfilms.com/af/content/six_drummers

I'm a sucker for good film and this is it! So crafty, so inspired, and tonally so profound.

All profundity aside, I've suddenly gotten into this review writing phase. I look around the site and I read about these great (or not-so-great) games I've played and I feel compelled to write reviews. Since so many of the reviews on the site consist of fanboy loyalism, I find it difficult to accept their truncated comments as anything close to a review.

The Gamespot staff does an excellent job reviewing games. In some instances, after crafting my review, I have seen my net analysis coincide with Gamespot's official review. Even if the parts did not match directly, it is a testament to me that the analysis provided by this site has inherent value to me in my decision making process.

So, Gamespot and I. . . making sweet music together. Thank you for the rich sandbox.

Saturday Night Indulgence

So Saturday night has become my game escape.

The last three Saturdays have consisted of: Diablo, Diablo, and Halo.

That is three nights of gaming after my wife has gone to bed that I should not have had. Particularly since I tend to lose track of time and play into Sunday.

After a year, I finally broke down and finished Halo 2 on Legendary. How fun. I didn't enjoy Tartarus as a character throughout the story, and I liked him less as a boss.

Now I can say I have decisively pushed him 6 feet under on every difficulty.

I am one bad banana.

Friend-like

So, after years of solitary devotion to the Gamespot writings, two of my friends from real life have joined the throngs of readers.

Who would have thought within 24 hours. Well, that is why I write, so that I will be read. But opening the writings of one's mind to just anybody is a choice I usually do not make.

Something about my wiritings is private, personal, and probably unsuitable for public consumption given both the attitudes of common denizens and the sensibilities of those who do not share similar ideas. Perhaps I am just self-conscious about writing run-on sentences when I fancy myself such a strict grammarian.

Either way, my musings may best be softened if they were thrown out into the public space. Perhaps then I might think before I proverbially speak.

Flu Vaccine

So today I got my flu vaccine.

Now I'm not feeling well.

I think tomorrow is a sick day.

Which means game day. . . er, resting/studying day.

Perpetual Sleep

What is it about this seasonal allergy time that makes me go to sleep at 8:30 PM and wake up tired at 7:00 am?!?

This don't make no sense.

I was trying to study last night, but was rather ineffective due to the sleepiness which overcame me. I didn't even have time to attempt to be distracted by games.

I win my Cube Parties

So last night I dusted off my Gamecube and played a couple rounds of Mario Party 4.

My wife was not excited. Especially since we don't have a second controller so she could play with me. Eventually I tore myself away and studied. Tonight I am trying to fight the urge to go home and play. . . er, study some more.

Sunday Sanity

So, it turns out late night Saturday nights make for unpleasant Sunday mornings. No, really. I thought I had learned this back in college, but I seem to have been mistaken.

When I stay up late late on Saturday night, waking up with my wife Sunday morning (since she is up and active) is a difficult proposition at best.

Because of my late-night delinquency she and I are both late to our 10 am meeting. Yes, pathetic, but true.

Intermitent Connectivity

The fact that I can't connect to Gamespot regularly is only exacerbated by the fact that I can't connect to the Internet regularly while at school.

Dang wireless.

Cable's Progenitors

Scott Summers and madeline Pryor wed and then delivered Nathan Summers. When lil Nate was infected by Apocalypse's techno-organic virus, Scott and Jean let him go into the future to be cured by a kindly temporal traveller.

Nate then returned as Cable to fight alongside his parents.

I wonder what adventures my children will have, and what wars will rage in our lifetimes. I only hope the love of a parent will be enough to help my children fulfill their destiny.

Love, Dad
