@kalgert123 @Doomerang Don't worry, I'm a loon too. Loons shall rule the world.

@kalgert123 You seem to not get the fact that I've agreed with the fact that CoD doesn't innovate enough. I didn't defend CoD at all, and I'm not sure why you're acting like I am.

@kalgert123 @Doomerang @registeredpunk I agreed to that. I even said that CoD, imo, shouldn't get such high scores because it doesn't innovate enough.

@DrCyclopsX @Doomerang Again, that's irrelevant to videogame portrayal. You're talking about a completely different subject, which IS supposed to be taken seriously. However, your logic is flawed in videogames, where there isn't many cases where fanservice is implied to be taken seriously and to heart.

@registeredpunk While I personally do not like CoD, you do have to keep in mind that just because a game is innovative, does not mean a game is good. There are plenty of games that have unique gameplay but are horribly implemented. Aside from the stuff I mentioned in other posts, there are some valid flaws I noticed him mentioning, such as the whole gun thing and the fact that you don't really unlock the more fun elements of combat until late in the game.

I personally feel, like you, that CoD isn't worth such high grades (honestly feels like it falls in the opposite camp, where it doesn't innovate enough to warrant its scores), but a game shouldnt get a high score on uniqueness alone either.

@DrCyclopsX @Doomerang Or maybe people just realize that some things, like here, are so stupidly over the top that you just laugh it off. Every single time I've seen something supposedly sexist in a game, it's always in games that are never supposed to be taken seriously.

Given that no one, not even female gamers, seemed to take offense at these types of fanservice in the past, I doubt that Japan is getting a free pass as much as people realizing that Japan only uses it in situations where you're not even supposed to take the fanservice to heart.. When you take such use way too seriously - as you are, along with spouting political agenda that has nothing to do with this topic - you miss the forest for the trees.

@markypants @blast880 If you've played those games and enjoyed them, then how is it that Suda usage of his traditional "anime" style and over-the-top-to-the-point-of-ridiculousness fanservice considered a flaw here based on your tone in your article, but doesn't apparently affect your fun on the games you listed?

As I said in an earlier post, you only seemed to complain about them without actually putting context as to WHY they're flaws here, and not in Suda's other games (especially since you say you loved NMH and enjoyed LC, which share Suda's level of ridiculousness) and just mentioned them and implied them as negative traits of the game. I'm not defending the game - the whole gun thing you mentioned did seem pretty worrisome, for example - but it does seem that there are several parts in your review where you fault the style and not the game itself.

While I understand that reviews are mainly job-based personal opinions, I do have to point out that the reviewer was essentially faulting the game with many points that is actually Suda 51's signature style, and isn't as much flaws of the game itself. Faulting a game for "Anime Nonsense" and the graphical style for example, rather than say screen tearing and such, is a terrible way to judge a game because you're not judging the game on its merits graphically, just on the fact that you don't like the style.

Same with the whole "sexist" attitude about the oggling thing; Suda51 always uses the whole oggling aspect in a completely out-there and parodical way rather than in a serious way, yet somehow he's being sexist here but not in his other games (the PS3 update of No More Heroes is nothing but fanservice). I respect his personal opinion, but having a fit over sexism without explaining its context in the game and letting it affect one's score is pretty unprofessional.

@BamaGoatt Haha, Cinco nearly has it. I just made it up back when I had an obsession with boomerangs and the game Doom. :)

Given how this is occurring so close after the Greatness Awaits auction, this is probably following up with that whole auction thing they did with the Greatness Awaits set pieces. You will probably be able to "purchase" stuff based on the number of silver/gold trophies you get. It'll probably be like club nintendo, only you actually have to play the game thoroughly to earn the "credit".
