Ipad reviewers playing in race cars. I guess you take whatever you can get. I'll take real race car drivers opinions, and the Real Race Car Drivers that go through GT Academy. But cling to your Ipad heroes, I'm sure they are as casual as you are.Nuck81

You're so predictable. I knew you'd go for the "they don't usually review cars!" angle, even though these guys have actual seat time in real cars, just because it doesn't conform to your opinion.

Here's a review from Jalopnik. A site dedicated to reviewing, reporting on and testing cars.

And they say:

"Car guys will be happy to know that Forza 4 is the most realistic console racing game ever. Non car-guys will love the Top Gear content and the ease with which you can join races and play your friends. I'm happy in knowing that a good chunk of those non car-guys will likely find themselves becoming car guys because if Forza 4 can't create a new generation of gearheads, I don't know what game will."

Let's see you try to spin this one.

Jalopniks GT5 review: ' if you want to lose yourself for days in the most utterly realistic yet overly-complex driving game ever, pausing only to defecate, urinate, sleep and eat (in no particular order), buy Gran Turismo 5." Again, accessibility and casualization does not make Forza the more accurate console sim.

You also fail to realize that Jalopnik made that comment BEFORE Forza 4's release. Oh and what makes GT5 an accurate sim? Because from what I can see, it's far from it.

[QUOTE="Nuck81"] Yep. Even though just a few posts above I said I preferred Shift 2 over GT5. I'm sure Forza is a good game and fun to drive. But let's not make it out to be something it's not. A serious sim game with the best handling on consoles. It's an casual arcade racer in the skin of a sim. That's why Forza's handling model includes hidden assists, and the tracks are inaccurate from real life so that the kids can go fast, not slow down in turns, pass easier, and play bumper cars. Nuck81

Even more innaccurate arguments!

Do I need to remind you of the Digital Trends article that said Forza was more realistic and authentic than GT5?

Bu...bu...ISR!!!

Try playing Forza 4 before you open your mouth next time.

You actually deny that Forza's tracks are innacurate? Even though Nordschlieffe has over 2 miles of distance added to it because of them lengthening the straights, and lessing the degree's on the curves? Wow, talk about denial.

Heh, so you're going to let 1 inaccurate track ruin the whole experience for you and completely negate all the other ones? Hilarious. It's been widely known that Forza's Nurburgring isn't the best considering that it uses PGR's track models with some touched up bits here and there but it's been countlessly stated that it's been stretched and widened to allow for better online use.

It's because it's the only thing it has over Forza really. Other than more realism I guess

Nuck81

Tracks. Don't forget about those tracks. =)

I'd argue that the real world track selection was better in Shift 2. Bathurst Silverstone Brands Hatch Autopolis Road America Monza Circuit Dijon-Prenois Brno Dubai Willow Springs Suzuka But both Shift 2 and GT5 are tons better than Forza's bland, innacurate arcade tracks.

Shift 2 Track selection is amazingly good. In terms of accuracy? Not even close to its real-world counterparts.

And lol @ arcade tracks. Have you not seen Gt5's standard tracks? Most of them are ports from GT4/PSP with slightly improved shaders and textures.

I'm hoping for zero number of standard cars in GT6 and have a full load of premium models, although making a single premium model takes a lot of man hours.

GT5 is started from scratch which is obviously why it took so long to make. For GT6, I think they started from GT5 and make their way from there, so it shouldn't be long until release and I'm expecting a MUCH better game than GT5.

OB-47

They overreached with GT5, and placed the filler. Forza has been a great series, with no need for "standard cars". I see what Polyphony were trying to accomplish, but maybe they should focus on an all-round great game, rather than a game with only a select number of premium models.

Polyphony has the experience and the know how, so just apply it and don't try and sell the PS3 on it.

Problem is that Poly is more concerned with making a car encyclopedia, not a game. The interface and stuff in Forza is so much better. GT5 feels archaic.

Still enjoy both. And even the biggest Forza fan must admit they loved GT back in the day

This I must admit is very true. Loved GT1 and GT3 back in the day. Everything after I lost interest and moved on over to Forza.

I was talking about the exterior model. And I was only pointing out that you were using a screen from the wrong game, because it's the wrong game. I know the standard models suck, but please don't be misleading. =)

Please re-read and next time look at who you're replying to. I didn't post the first pic of GT PSP.

Cows don't care about sales except when it comes to Gran Turismo.

Subjective, but still I'd rather have Forza's tracks than GT5's. I mean... who doesn't want to replicate a full ALMS race with dedicated ALMS cars on real-world ALMS tracks? :)

[QUOTE="HadOne2Many"]Ahh yes, the GT5 standard cars. They do look great don't they? Here's one of them: and here's a view from one of the standard cars cockpit: What a truly marvelous technical achievement.PinkiePirate

Omg. I've seen this before. It was debunked on GTPlanet. It's a low-detail LOD model with the camera zoomed way in. And that second pic is from GT PSP. -_-

Seriously, I dont even mind. They still look good. And the cars I really, really want are all in Premium.

Premium GT5 cars > Forza cars

Now go cry in a corner

Vatusus

Not even remotely true, and I have facts to back that up as well.

so do I

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97VigfIIHu0

And please, dont even call that comparisson biased cause in the end the guy that made those series of videos say he prefers slightly Forza over GT as a game. He still says the premium cars in GT5 look better then Forza cars

While yes, that is a very fair, non-biased comparison between each game in terms of graphics, he didn't go very in depth when it comes to detail. Like I've mentioned in another thread, when it comes to lighting PD certainly nailed it and could almost make any car premium or standard look as if it's a real photograph. Turn 10 still has that excessive bloom and over-contrasted look since Forza 3 and it really takes away from what the game could essentially look like. You could make any photo in Forza look as good, and I may even say look better than GT5's but all it takes is a little practice.

However when it comes to cars, it certainly is debatable as to whether which game has higher detailed models. Forza imo takes it.

... and cars.

Red Bull X1 2010/2011 Prototype, Ferrari F2008 and F10 and Rally cars make GT the better game for me. It has almost everything a car lover would want. It also has karting and Nascar. Karting is fun but Nascar is just meh. Only americans would love that :P

Vatusus

So you list a few Cars and yet that still doesnt Change the FACT that you're still stuck with 800 PS2 Car Models? 800  It would be ok if it was like 50-100 PS2 Car Models but 800?? Daaayumm!!! 800  800 PS2 Cars In 6 Years Development time? :? WTF is that all about? :?

Seriously, I dont even mind. They still look good. And the cars I really, really want are all in Premium.

All this thread does is prove that name recognition alone will sell copies of a game. Move on people, GT is dead. Kaz should just fall on his sword and get it over with.HadOne2Many

Yep, brand recognition heavily contributes to GT5's sales.

By the way, using sales as an indicative towards how well a game is, is so rediculous, it's laughable.
