[QUOTE="Nuck81"][QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="PinkiePirate"] I think a good indicator of quality is the massive culture, fanbase and celebration of all things Gran Turismo. You aren't a fan of something if the product is mediocre.

Not to mention racing sim sites like insideracing say GT5 is the better sim. Reviewers from game websites are usually not racing fans.

Exactly. Ever wonder why a lot of the GT5 reviews didn't showcase any of the High end cars like X2010, F1, Le Mans, or Super GT? Becuse the reviewers didn't play long enough to get to them. Most reviewers played through the Beginner series and maybe haflway through amateur before calling it. Not to mention playing only with a gamepad. That's why Forza outscored it on sites like this and IGN. Forza is designed for the casual Racing game fan so it's more accessible. However the vast majority of Sim Racers and Sim Racing sites preferred GT5. That's why GT5 outscored Forza in Physics, simulation, Track selection, Car Selection and value at ISR. The only thing Forza handily beats GT5 at is sound.

Everything you pointed out is subjective and your opinion. h and by the way, can you post pinks to thises sim sites that seem to prefer GT5 or Forza? Because from what I've read, it's the other way around..

[QUOTE="White_Dreams"] What's every measure anyway, the only other one is reviews, so critics with opinions thinks its better, but the population seems to think GT is better.White_Dreams

Reviews...simulation, car selection...

And sales are far from a good indicator of quality. It would be great if Forza sold more (because it deserves it in my opinion) but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

It seems like a good indicator to me, millions go out and buy it because they enjoy it so much, means as much as reviews.

Bullsh*t. They bought it with the expectations of it being the best racing game this generation considering that it took them almost 5 years to make.

[QUOTE="Drakshark2424"][QUOTE="Jonwh18"] They made dirt? My bad :P I do enjoy DiRT. Both Burnout and DiRT and Burnout are superior to FH. As for Burnout versus DiRT, Its harder to compare. On has an off road focus the other is big on driving through traffic. I have a preferance for Burnouts style of game play over off road/derbie racing. SInce the two are pretty different games I would turn to scores. DiRT the more consistanly higher rated franchise, but they have only made three Dirt games as of this point in time that I know of. Critierion has put out at least three games that are at or higher then 9. AS a series Dirt has a 8.3 and two 9's. I'm really not going to call this one. Id say they are about equal.

I do too! Makes me even more excited at the fact that developers who created DiRT and Bizzare Creations from the PGR Series are part of the Horizon team now! :)

who are you?

Doesn't matter.

I has a "ohh wait" at the end implying sarcasm but your are praising another devloper (codemasters, and I have no Idea who they are bt they apperently do F1). So am confused as to why you would praise another dev, but not really since I believe it was sarcasm, over criterion, when I was the one supporting criterion and you apperently disagreed?

Also F1 games are usually racing sims, so I fail to see how it fits into the relm of arcade racers.... I'm going to be honest I avoid sim racers like GT, Forza motorsport and anything with F1 in the name (because F1 games are usually sims, which bore me). I find them boring and stick to arcade racers.

Codemasters is a large company, but I referring to DiRT franchise and it's huge critical success.

The consensus is that Forza 3 is much better than GT5.

tubbyc

i beg to differ.. the racing is not better than it is in gt5...and thats the only thing that matters... the music/sounds are better as well.

I prefer the deeper, roaring sounds of the Forza cars compared to the higher pitched, sometimes vacuum-like sounds of the GT5 cars.

Some examples:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wtf1zpXVrLI&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAsFLtTphng&list=UUtlE-v45QuOUYfSDB3WDF1A&index=4&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN33dF2g9nM&list=UUSPJv4cDZYVwq_5X9iW8Fug&index=56&feature=plcp I wholeheartedly agree with this. The sound alone is what immersed myself in the Forza series in the first place.

[QUOTE="Drakshark2424"][QUOTE="CanYouDiglt"]I do not see why they should get rid of something you do not have to use. Before the race turn it off and you will recieve more credits also. I have mine turned off but no reason not to have it in the game so others can not use it.Chemical_Viking

It's interesting once you think about it.... Considering that you can't rewind AND PAUSE in real life. Anyone who dogs rewind is hypocrite since they paused at least once in any type of racing game.

How does that work? Games are not real life. I don't treat it as if it is real life. Ergo, your accusation falls flat.

When you pause, you are not undoing mistakes you've made, an introduction which is contrary to the spirit of racing games.

My additive was actually a direct comment towards those who believe GT5 shouldn't have the rewind feature, since apparently it is deemed unrealistic in a 'racing simulator.' You may necessarily may not treat it as if it is real life, but I can bet everything in my bank account some who do. I'm the opposite actaully, and I for one welcome the rewind feature in any future racing games to come. When testing physics or practicing driving, rewind allows you to negate minor differences in variables and also saves time. Example, find the optimum braking point for the back straight at Sarthe: No rewind - restart track over and over, or lap over and over with slight variations in speed and position each time. Rewind - hit rewind button after you've gone around the corner and you go back to the exact initial speed and position. Rewind in no way lowers realism, it is no way arcade, and to think so just means you've not thought very carefully. Whether it's desirable or not is up to the individual. However, there might be a reason that it appeared in a driving sim, and that said sim isn't stuck in 1997.

It's great, looks amazing, really interesting concept, but get rid of that filthy rewind button. UGH.

lmao this thread turned into a full sales thread about everything lawl..you SW kids are funny :P... all i wanted to know was to understand what makes GT5 a fun game to those who played it but nvm

finalstar2007
Should've done it in the proper section then. What kind of responses were you expecting by making a thread like this, coupled with a title like that in System Wars? But if you want fun in GT5, go to practice mode, pick any type of fast car and drive only in cockpit view. The day/night ycle in this game is absolutely breathtaking. Oh and try to match your times real world Nuburgring times. It's a great challenge, especially if you're a novice at the game :) Taking pictures in photo travel mode is a good time waster as well!

[QUOTE="Obviously_Right"]

[QUOTE="Drakshark2424"] As I mentioned in another thread, racing in the rain happens on select tracks. THIS is how you do rain. Like I said before, Quality > Quantity. More cars does NOT make it better. You have 1000 cars, but more than half of them are from almost a decade ago. Turn 10 has probably the most diverse car list ths gen. despite only having 650 in total. 5 years on development time and more than 80% of the cars that should belong in a PS2 game in THE REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR?? How could that be...? By the way don't get me started on physics when you can't even adjust camber/tire pressure settings in GT5. Tracks: Where's Road America? Road Atlanta? Nurburgring GP? Sebring International Raceway? Oh and show me pit stop animations on Suzuka while you're at it too. :)Z-Fatalis

You can adjust camber.

Both Nurb GP and Sebring are in GT.

Forza doesn't even have pit stop animations.

Forza still doesn't have Spa = FAIL

wow seriously? lol

No night racing, no wet races, no snow races, no pitstop animations, less cars, less tracks, worse handeling, worse physics..

Wtf does Forza actually have lol?

Better physics? Then explain to me why GT5 has an absence of torque steer or the way it doesn't replicates loss of traction when understeering?
