From what I know, people bash the Wii because of its weak library of games (compared to the other 2 consoles.)

JLF1

You mean the other consoles library that mostly consists of PC ports? Okay. Good games are good games no matter what, but if i want Bioshock, COD, etc etc, i play it where it was meant to be played. Like it or not, exclusives are pretty much what justifies a console´s library if comparsions are to be made.

Then why did you have a ton of multiplats and ports in your Wii list?

Apparently consistency has never occurred to him. It's the same rationale that had some Wii loyalist in another thread tout his AAE games in one post and call Uncharted (a AAE game) a floppy piece of crap in the next.

I much prefer Spiderman, he had his own unique powers. Cole's electric is used the exact way a gun would be used in a TPS. Electric grenades, shooting it like a rifle, those precise sniper shots ...

-Snooze-
Spider-man has been done to death. There have been far more games specifically about Spider-man than generically about electricity-based superpowers. Cole also has a "force push", an electric cannon-ball drop, melee, glide, rockets (which can be used as air strikes). He can also traverse everything in his environment, and the story is original and not pigeonholed by previous comic-book lore. The TPS elements are certainly there, but so are a lot of other options. Nothing beats Spider-man 2 for pure joy of traversing the city, but the game was extremely shallow and generic and the world was completely uninspired. I have played both for well over 15 hours a piece and I think inFamous is far more compelling. Btw, is that Keeley Hazell in your sig?

LordQuorthon, these, as well:

 that sick.

Yup. Say what you will about Microsoft, but their ad campaigns are brilliantly conceived, entertaining, and effective, and an inspiration to the other 2 in terms of marketing. A lot of my favorite Sony and Nintendo franchises would have undoubtedly sold more copies on the 360, and a lot of it is because of their marketing. Kudos to MS and Bungie for expanding the scope and influence of video games, even though I personally think the Halo games are a bit crap.

That is certainly an impressive line-up. And it certainly puts the "Wii has no good games only shovelware" idea to rest, but, I'm just not looking forward to anything on that list. Well, not everything, there are a couple I wouldn't mind playing> I'm just more interested in more games on other consoles.tylergamereview
Same exact way I feel. I appreciate that most of these games are good, objectively, but most of them just were not meant for me from the beginning and don't compel me like the upcoming titles for PS360.

Good thread. The upcoming Wii titles look to finally bolster it's overall lineup into something that more "core" gamers will enjoy. About time. Yes the Wii and it's lineup gets some hate it doesn't deserve, but after the arrogant way that Reggie Fils-Aime acts and Nintendo being seemingly oblivious to the needs of it's true loyalists, they deserve most of the hate they get. The way I see it they are pulling a Sony. They are on top, they are getting cocky and forgetting who they are. Sony got a serious punch in the nuts for being so stupid, and in turn it lit a fire under their ass. The result is stellar games and constant upgrades to the infrastructure. Until Nintendo gets that punch-in-the-nuts wakeup call, they will continue to support the casual market because that's who signs their paychecks. Anyway don't mean to derail the topic, the Wii does have a pretty strong lineup, all other factors aside.

I expect 8-9s universally like the first one. The first game was highly polished, just lacking in replay value and depth, and this one looks to completely correct that. Videos can always be deceiving because it just shows what the devs want you to see... but I have no reason to believe Naughty Dog would make a worse game than the previous one. It's not like they changed developers or tried to drastically change the formula. There is a lack of swashbuckling adventure games on consoles this generation, as well as new IPs, and I feel that Uncharted handily fills both of those roles. The story is cliched, but it's certainly not delivered poorly. Nate is a truly likable character, and the settings and locales were nothing short of gorgeous. The only sticking point with the game is that it had no multiplayer and extremely limited options for replaying. Even a simple mercs/horde mode would have sufficed, but from the sounds of it, with a separate co-op campaign as well as online multiplayer (which includes platforming and melee, which blows my mind backwards) this one will certainly not be one to write off.

What is that thing? It looks intense

MS sidewinder

It's supposed to be a nice mouse, but I would NEVER again buy Microsoft peripherals. My recent experience with Microsoft is based on it's wireless KB/M products, which apparently have a range of 2 feet and make the whole concept of wireless a non-issue. I have had 2 keyboards and a mouse completely stop working, for absolutely no reason. Conversely, the Logitech wireless mouse I paid less money for has the same range as a cordless phone, rechargable batteries, and I have never had a problem with it. MS makes some great features, I really miss the zoom feature on my old MS mouse (made using my "50 display as a PC monitor a lot easier), but I absolutely don't trust their hardware standards. They just don't seem to care about quality at all. Everything feels cheap and poorly manufactured and more often than not the hardware I buy from them ends up broken long before I intended to replace it. Our 360 has never bricked though, which goes to show that my experiences are purely anecdotal. Apologies for going off on a tangent, I am just still bitter about having to replace my KB/M. :P

Oh yeah!

I prefer my trusty KB/M combo as well, but the thread title clearly says Console Controller. I think that the current crop of console controllers are the most comfortable because they have benefited from watching several other gens worth of controllers and altering them accordingly. If you combined the best features of the 360 and PS3 controllers, you would have a perfect controller, in my opinion.

oh, and btw- good games don't lead to profit... consumer appeal does... the two are oftentimes intertwined, but not always... the Dreamcast is a perfect example

Scoob64
This is true in all forms of entertainment. Angels & Demons will almost assuredly make boatloads of money for everyone involved, but it doesn't make it a better movie than Sideways, or The Wrestler. This whole forum seems overly concerned with sales. As long as developers turn enough of a profit to continue their series or create new IPs that are top notch, I don't see what else could really matter. Online-dependant games are the only type in which sales actually affect the quality of a game, since even Halo 3 would be worthless if you were the only one playing it.

inFamous is not without it's issues, but they are all easily overshadowed by the games strengths, in my opinion. With another coat of aesthetic polish it would be something incredible. It's a great start for a new IP. After Lair, Haze, and Too Human epically flopping and Heavenly Sword and Valkyria Chronicles commercially flopping, it's great to see a compelling new IP in an endless sea of sequels... that said, I eagerly await the sequel to inFamous.
