What has Nintendo done with their status "on top", for you as a gamer? Do you think the sales to quality games ratio is comparable to that of the PS2, over the same period of time? Personally I see a much heavier casual focus this gen from Nintendo, and there is nothing casual about how I game. I am not a non-gamer or an occasional gamer that needed a kick to get me into gaming. I am a jaded gamer of over 20 years who has seen it all and I think that besides it's stellar first-party offerings like Mario, Smash Bros, Zelda, and Metroid, which are truly world-class, there is a serious lack of consistent, great game releases. As I said, if you are just as happy with ExciteBots as I am with Empire: Total War, Resident Evil 5, or Killzone 2, there is nothing wrong with that, it's just clear that we are two totally different types of gamers. It's great that Nintendo has expanded the market, but I think they are creating entirely new customers, not necessarily stealing Sony or Microsoft's. Guys that are salivating over Alan Wake and God of War 3 aren't going to suddenly shift their focus to Wii Music because the Wii is selling a lot. The Wii is making strides with games like the Conduit coming up, but at least thus far, there have been some seriously dry patches for Wii owners.Nintendo is king, nuff said, practicaly....well no......actualy saved console gaming, and i'm so glad that they're on top its so ironic, sony deserves to be last i'm rooting for nintendo 100% get em nintendo and microsoft get em ! make sony pay for what they did to sega, make them cry, run them out of the console industry, i'm all for it.

[QUOTE="brennan7777"]He's right though. A wii's AAE is hardly comparible to a real next gen consoles AAE.Link to Gamespot employee saying so? Well I've investigated the system wars rules and such a little more carefully, and it seems that using Gamespot scores as the be-all and end-all just applies to "official hype" and whether a title "flops" or not. It certainly does not mean that I cannot have an opinion different from Gamespot reviews and express that opinion. While the Wii may have several 7-8 rated titles under it's belt so far this year, there are even more great titles that the Wii was completely left out on. Sony has released two 9.0 PS3 exclusives as well as a 9.0 Sony multiplat since February, and Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter 4 both scored at least an 8.5. Multiplats may not count as "ownage" material, but they are still games that the Wii doesn't get, and when it comes to the E3 heavy hitters about to be elaborated on such as Alan Wake, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13, etc. etc. etc. I would not want to miss out. To each their own though, if you are content with just the Wii lineup that Gamespot deems "A/AA" then you are in great shape.[QUOTE="screechmario"]This is why we go by Gamespot scores. So opinions like yours don't get in the way of discussion.screechmario
The difference is with consoles you play catch-up once every 5-10 years, while with a PC you are always playing catch-up. I'm not knocking PC gaming, it's my favorite platform... but the reality is that it ends up costing just as much, if not more, keeping a PC up to current standards.I don`t want a new system until these games come out:
Assassin`s Creed 3Condemned 3Metal Gear Solid 6GTA 5Elder Scrolls 5Final Fantasy XVUncharted 3If this gen won`t last for at least for 3-4 years, screw this, I`m joining the "superior" PC gamer`s race.

o ya just like what happened with the ps2  The PS2 is what is called The Exception to the Rule. If a new console was announced for the next year to two years, I would be disappointed. The jump in technology would be greatly appreciated, but virtual obsoletion of several hundred dollars worth of hardware is never a welcome thing. I expect future consoles to have extensive backwards compatibility, which will soften the blow, but I still won't be ready for a new console for at least another 3 years.[QUOTE="tbone29"]If it means that the current consoles are on their way out, I'd be pretty pissed.Mike885
Do you honestly believe that a game like ExciteBots is completely on par with a AA title like Resident Evil 5, Mass Effect, Fable 2 or Uncharted, just because an arbitrary reviewing system gave them comparable scores? I have played ExciteBots, by the way, and it is quite fun, so I am not putting it down. I just want to know if you believe that all 8/10+ games are created equally. OF course they're not. There is no other game like Excitebots on other platforms so what are you going to compare it to? Sounds lke you are trying to say AA on the Wii wouldn't mean AA on other platforms, a rather fanboyish stance. Or course games are judged relative to the platform they are released on. A Nokia N-Gage Splinter Cell would not cut the mustard on XBox 360. I don't believe anyone holds all the platforms to the same standards, but you can feel free to believe whatever you want.[QUOTE="Ego-testicle"][QUOTE="screechmario"]The games argument isnt really working anymore bud.... [QUOTE="Ego-testicle"]Sort of off topic, but I have to wonder if all of these sales numbers were important to Nintendo fans last console generation. I don't know why gamers would even care about sales? Unless a company is in serious enough financial trouble that it impacts their ability to release quality games, it really doesn't affect the end-user whatsoever. I will also say that no sales record is worth enduring a casual lineup like the Wii has put forth in recent years. If a Wii was my only source of gaming nourishment I would be starving for titles that appeal to me. screechmarioSpeak for yourself, the Wii has 6AAe's and 6Ae's already in 2009 and I cant keep up with all the games coming out. Speak for myself? I will indeed, who else would I presume to speak for? Internet forums are for soliciting opinions, and obviously I am soliciting my own. As I said, the games on the Wii this year simply are not appealing to me. I am not the target demographic for ExciteBots or Punch Out. MadWorld was brutal fun but it can't compete for my attention with what the other consoles and PC are putting out. This is just how I feel, I am not basing my opinion on what Gamespot feels. I have played ExciteBots, I have played MadWorld, I am not ignorant of the Wii's lineup. I just think Nintendo is targeting completely different gamers than me. The Wii has some fantastic games in it's library, but in my opinion none of them have been released this year. I have yet to play Punch Out, though.

and im playing real and harcore games and you still awating for them while waving your hand in g@y manner and balancing yourself in a ficnional balance for virtual yoga, who cares nintendo is higher sales, sony is better im gamiing and has laways brought more to the industry than nintendo (expect for some expections)
you have no games to play and you turned on sales.. sad
