His only justification for the $500 price point literally is that you can use the Kinect to control your television... right after saying that the device was created because "...there are a lot of low end simple casual game boxes." (that would apparently include the Xbox 360) and they wanted to release something to change that. Watching live TV is for hardcore gamers, I guess.
@Azubedo Yeah, I thought it was kinda' strange. Child abduction theme bad. Airport massacre A-OK! Microsoft has OK'd worse. They simply didn't think Heavy Rain would sell well enough for them to put any kind of resources into. They weren't willing to take a chance on something that wasn't a main-stream shooter. I'm sure they are kicking themselves now, but during that time, the 360 was known as a console for shooters.
@JBStone1981 Never mind that the very comment you are referencing also bashes Sony for doing something similar. You do make it difficult not to stereotype you, yourself, as a fanatic. The very kind of person you would seem to despise. A "cloney" as you put it.

I guess if you speak out against Microsoft, even in the slightest, you must be a Sony loyalist because there are no other platforms that people care about, right? Or even less likely yet, someone who doesn't align themselves with a company. That would just be ludicrous!
@JBStone1981 @RainIsMyDrug Only partially true. To play online, you'll need a PS+ subscription (which I'd rather not have). Subscribers get a free watered down version of Driveclub.
And when determining whether or not Microsoft's offer is borderline bribe, you just need to look at the title they're giving away and the region they are giving it away in. Little things that require very little deductive skills to see. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the world is not black and white. If you don't think there is at least some kind of selfishness behind their incentive, then you are fooling yourself.
@RainIsMyDrug @gamist The FIFA 14 pack-in exclusively for Europe... Never have I seen such a blatant bribe since the free games Sony gave away after their hacking fiasco.
Football is huge in Europe so it's good for them, but they try to dress it up by calling it an "incentive". Who are they trying to fool?
@DVONvX @RainIsMyDrug Sony has more first-party studios than Microsoft. No surprise that Sony is stronger in that regard.
Also, I don't doubt that a good chunk of that $1 billion went to timed exclusivity. From a business standpoint, it's a good move. Much cheaper than buying exclusive games. Most purchases come from initial release.
And from what I've read, dedicated servers have only been confirmed for CoD: Ghosts. They made a point of it. No mention of any other games. Ghosts was named. They would have said "Xbox One has dedicated servers" rather than "Call of Duty has dedicated servers".
