@blackraven711 @Emerald_Scott @AkhilAnilkumar Hehe, I just love discussions and I love seeing both sides to as many things as I can. It keeps things fair and in perspective. A lot of folks are brash and combative, but I guess it's normal. I prefer to keep calm and engage in nice, deep conversations. I also like to be careful with my words and think hard about what I say.
Everyone's different, but I'm certain there are couple other people like me on this site.
@AkhilAnilkumar I don't think I can agree with that statement fully. But that's probably because I don't fully get what you mean by combat. I hope the gameplay can be fun enough and I know that running and hiding all the time might not appeal to everyone.
Still, as the developer explains in the video, a key element is taking away the notion that you can take enemies head on. That's why there'll be limited ammo and supplies. The Resident Evil franchise went downhill because of the emphasis on action and combat, among other reasons.
It's a very hard balance to achieve -- do you put emphasis on action and add multiplayer to appeal to more gamers or do you try to create a unique single-player experience and risk alienating some gamers?
I hope this redefines the survival horror game genre. Unfortunately, I'm not enthusiastic about the slasher elements of blood, gore and chainsaw psychos. In my opinion, psychological horror films beat slasher films. However, this is a game, so the experience is different.
Didn't know actors could be game experts. The Sony press conference was great; although, he's right in saying that it's about the experience.
The only things the next-gen have going for them are superb graphics and dynamic levels featuring high amounts of destructibility as in Battlefield 4. Even so, the gameplay is still the same as it now and as it was before.
The only thing that seems truly next-gen is the Oculus Rift. If you don't know about it, look it up on YouTube. While I might never get my hands on one anytime soon, everyone who has has been absolutely blown away by it and has stated that it's the definitive immersive experience. And I bet playing a horror game with it would be insane!
It's high time we embraced virtual reality, because even with life-like graphics, if you still incorporate the same old gameplay into a game, it'll have that "been there, done that" feel. For this reason, I've skipped a lot of CoD games and a few other FPSs.
I like the Xbox controllers but I've always thought it's weird for the two analogue to not be level like the PS controllers. I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
@EddieDominguez Do the analogue sticks wear out? That's always been my gripe with the PS3 controllers. They wear out and get oily pretty fast. Oddly enough, I don't play often nor do I get food or sticky stuff on them.
